Wandering Around
But after making her request, the three seniors had nothing but a huge grin on their faces. There was practically excitement coursing through their veins. 1
"Ahahaha, not one but two Sword Spirits, we need to make the most of our time", said Mei Zhen.
The burly woman clasped her hands and rubbed them together as she eyed both swords.
"Right, right, as for what you want to request, well, it will take us a few days to fulfill it but don't worry! We aren't experts for no reason!"
Zhang Guang smiled, carrying the armor and her other accessories with care. The two quickly bid their farewell before going off, returning to their workshops to gather their tools. Thus, they left Cheng Wei with Ming Yue and the others.
The elderly man chuckled as he watched them go, looking at his guests.
"Well then, I suppose you are going to have to stay for a few days. All three of us are going to need to get your feedback on any ideas and changes", he said to her, stroking his white beard.
Ming Yue just smiled and nodded.
"That's not a problem, I will just have more time to prepare for the journey, Senior", she replied.
"Alright then, we will send for you when we need you but for now, there is quite a bit of work for me to do."
The young woman cupped her fists and lowered her head, bowing to him.
"Thank you, to all three seniors."
"Hah, no need to be like that! You've grown strong, having reached the Sky Realm now. In fact, I doubt that there are many in this continent that could match your strength. You might be on par with some of the old and hidden experts", Cheng Wei pointed out.
"Senior, please, I am still far from being an expert."
She answered with a smile and a wholehearted look.
"Mm, it is a good thing to keep moving forward and to always climb higher. However, understand the things that you will sacrifice to get there. No one reaches a place of power without losing something of their own."
Ming Yue nodded.
"I understand, thank you for your wisdom, Senior. We will get going now."
As the group ascended the stairs, the young woman looked off in a direction of Cheng Wei's workshop. Her eyes narrowed for a bit before looking away, continuing up the stairs and leaving the WIldwood Pavilion.
"He wouldn't be... would he?" she wondered.
But the thought was only in passing as there were much more pressing matters at hand.
The next few days were full of buzz and excitement when news of the Beast Continent reconnecting had been made official. Now everyone knew and they were all talking, some were excited.
"What did the Beast Continent have to offer? What sort of exciting experiences could it entail?"
At the same time, others were afraid.
"Could this be a repeat of the Demon Continent? Will there be another war?"
These were the thoughts running through everyone's minds. Fear and excitement but most of all, it was curiosity that had them all on their toes. No one truly knew what to expect.
They could only wait as delegates from the Six Kingdoms as well as Heaven's Gate arrived, bearing numerous gifts for the beast-kin. Piles had already begun to form in front of them as each delegate introduced themselves.
It was an entire ceremony that Ming Yue took the pleasure of watching from afar.
She just watched as they greeted one another. There were over a dozen delegates and by the last one, it seemed as if Ao Qin could barely keep himself together. He looked bored, extremely bored but he had to smile each time he was face to face with one of them. Most of the Zodiacs were like that, bored and certainly uncomfortable with such formalities. After all, this was the first time that they had to act with such care.
The only ones who were able to last till the end were Bai Sheng, Ruishi Lei, and the three Scholars.
All five of them were able to keep their polite faces throughout the ceremony. And at the end, everyone entered the ship before flying up and back to the Teleportation Array.
It didn't take long for them to vanish from sight and Ming Yue soon left once they were gone.
"I'll probably see them again another time", she thought, "In any case, things are going to be different, a lot of things are going to change."
It wasn't hard to understand that but no one would know just how much would change once all three continents have reconnected. After all, this hadn't happened since the Calamity and the possibilities were practically endless.
"I just have to be ready for the worst."
That was what Ming Yue believed.
"Even if another war happens, I'll be ready for it. But first, time to go to the Craftmen's District."
This time, she only brought Hongyu, having Hei Yue and the others stay and relax inside.
They walked through the bustling streets holding hands like a pair of sisters. Hongyu didn't have her old clothes but a fresh set of robes, simple like Ming Yue but with a light shade of purple instead of blue. The young woman had purchased more than just food, she bought clothes and a few tools for camping,
Unlike the makeshift ones that they had been using, Ming Yue purchased a proper set of cooking tools and spices. Wandering around some of the shops, she walked into one that had quite a pungent smell but one she could never forget.
Her eyes went towards the counter in an instant as she saw the owner there, happily organizing his wares.
"Hmm, Lao Gan?"
The moment he heard his name, the store owner looked at her with a confused face before shock settled in.
"Yo- you're Ming Yue, right? From the Four Season Forest?!" he said aloud.
She nodded.
"Yes, the Primal Frost Deer, yes."
Lao Gan smiled, stepping out from his counter to greet her.
A few years had passed and he certainly had changed. He was no longer as slender, gaining a bit of weight from all of the food he must've eaten while traveling. Still, his face was full of energy and excitement.
"What are you doing here? I thought that you had wanted to travel the world and try out all of the cuisines it had to offer?" she asked.
Lao Gan chuckled, scratching the back of his head with slight embarrassment.
"Well, I had reached the Ying Long Sea and tried the seafood, which was incredible but of course, I couldn't stay for long. I left and continued on my way, traveling around and tasting everything but..."
He looked around his store as he paused
"The seafood at Ying Long Sea is just too good, I couldn't forget about it so I settled here and started a business, selling my findings. I still do spend time going and procuring new things. After all, there is the Demon Continent and now the Beast Continent so there's still plenty to see. But what about you?" he asked.
"What happened? I heard the news that you had died in the war but you're clearly alive now!"
"A lot has happened but... I never died. I needed time to recuperate from that battle."
Ming Yue only gave a vague answer.
The merchant looked at her but quickly changed his tune.
"In any case, since you're here you must want to purchase a few things right? Well, everything here is free for you! After all, if it wasn't for the meat you gave me, I wouldn't have had the money to start this store from the beginning."
After telling her this, he quickly moved, talking about all the spices he had and which ones would suit her taste.
