646: You're Too Naive!

Author: ARGAS Word Count: 7536 Updated: 2025-03-06 15:45:47

You're Too Naive!

Lunging forward, she stabbed both swords into his forearm, using it as a foothold as she hopped over Yingba and landed behind him.1

As her power surged into both swords, they howled, resonating and glowing as she swung out. Two iridescent crescent moons formed at point-blank range, cutting right into Yingba's midsections.

"Waning Moon."

Even with Yingba's empowered state, Ming Yue was far too nimble for her. But a body cultivator was still a body cultivator, two Waning Moons weren't enough to finish him.

'Urgh, grrr."

As the two crescent slashes cut into him, they pierced his skin and bit into his flesh. Growling and clenching his jaw, Yingba grabbed them with his bare hands. His gauntlets had long been destroyed, shredded by the tornado. His fingers were eviscerated as blood sprayed out but he kept a tight grip and ripped them out of his body before crushing them.

Seeing that feat made Ming Yue even warier of him and he suddenly roared out into the skies as his violet aura grew more explosive.

Still, she wasn't going to back down.

With both swords out, she charged forward and attacked. A single strike wasn't going to cut it and so the other method was to overwhelm him.

Channeling her energy into both swords, she could feel them greedily drinking away.

"No matter how much energy you have, empowering two sword spirits is too much! Even if you have that ring of yours, this is dangerous!"

Elder Zhen immediately took notice but she ignored his warning. This was a gamble she was willing to take.

And Yingba didn't even seem conscious anymore. He was standing there, towering over her while growling at the young woman. His eyes were now a solid white as he had lost all sense of reason. He resembled more like a wild beast than anything.

Snarling at her assault, he lashed out, swinging a fist only to miss. Even then, the force of it was enough to stir the surrounding area.

Despite the strength he had and the power he exuded, Ming Yue was untouchable, dancing around with her two swords.

"Even if it's incomplete, there's no reason for me not to use my sword art", she thought to herself.

One to control, one to kill.

That was how she fought with two swords.

She left dozens of wounds on Yingba, using Blood Moon to cut at his tendons and slow him down while the Black Blade would come out, cutting down to his bone. One by one, his limbs turned useless, unable to move and unable to heal either.

With both the Wind and Lightning Dao at work, the injuries she inflicted were much more difficult to deal with. The amount of blood flowing from the cuts and gashes pooled under his feet.

Finally, the tattoos that defined him were ruined.

Soon enough, he was on his knees, still madly screaming and growling.

Looking at him, Ming Yue swung out cutting his head off and shutting him up. It was only then that she released her breath and stepped back. Cutting off her power to the two swords, she looked slightly pale, using Blood Moon to support herself.

"Hah, hah, hah, damn, that was more than a little dangerous", she said.

"You think?!" Xue Yue retorted, "You just challenged someone two levels above yours, how was that not dangerous?!"

"But I killed him", she replied.

Her counterpart was quiet for a moment before relenting.

"Yes, yes, you did kill him. That makes six, you still have eight left."

"Eight... eight more to kill."

Ming Yue spoke out loud, revealing a satisfied expression on her face. She was nearly halfway there to completing her goal. But she heard something, a weak cough followed by wheezing and laughter.

She turned to look at Yingba's body and then stared at his head.

To her shock, his eyes were still open and bright, returning to their original state. His face was gaunt and pale but a grin was on his face.

"Ahahahaha, you think that... just killing us, the Fourteen Evils, is enough? Was your goal just to put an end to Redmist Sanctuary?! What a naive idea you have! Do you think that killing us will truly matter? Sure they will scatter but there will always be someone like us, a desire to kill, to rob, to torture. Evil isn't something you can just end, it will exist for as long as good exists. It is an eternal battle and what you do is only temporary. Someone will take our places! People will gather once more. Do you think you can do it even after you die?! Ahahahah!"

His laughter was weak but she could clearly hear it. Ming Yue said nothing to him, her sword just swung out, splitting his head in half.

His laughter continued for a few more seconds before fading just as his life ended.

The young woman was quiet, perhaps bothered by his words. She stood there for a few seconds before moving toward his body and ruffling through his clothes.

There wasn't much on him and what she found was mostly wrecked by the fight. Even the red identity token was destroyed and she could only gather a few pieces from him. She took his body before checking her surroundings and leaving.

"He sure was loud, probably attracted some unwanted attention or something like that. If word foes out that this was a trap, we'll have to change our tactics", she said.

"Right, I don't think I sensed anyone though. What about you?" Xue Yue asked.

"I don't believe so, no." Senior Zhen replied.

Ming Yue then looked up at the skies and whistled out for Xiao Yin. The Star Owl descended, circling the air before landing on her shoulder, cooing to the young cultivator.

"Did you find anyone?" she asked.

Xiao Yin ruffled her feathers before chirping as if to say no.

"Mm, alright then, at the very least, no one knows the truth."

Confirming with them, Ming Yue vanished from the ruined valley, returning to the city just as the sun peeked out of the horizon. Walking through, she stopped by the brothel where Hei Yue rested inside. The fox suddenly raised his head before she even entered, noticing her scent.

In an instant, he suddenly rushed out, running up to Ming Yue happily.

"Ah, there you are."

She greeted the fox with a smile and a hug, chuckling as Hei Yue yipped happily.

"Mm, alright, alright, I'm sorry I had to leave you here. Someone has to stay back in case something happens. Come on, let's go!"

Standing up, the trio made their way back to the tea shop, going up to the second floor and entering the room. Putting both swords against the wall, she sat down on a chair, finding a fresh pot of tea on her table.

Seeing it, a small smile formed on her face as she poured herself and the two beasts a cup. It was still hot with steam wafting into the air.

There was a faint scent of chrysanthemum filling the room.

Taking a breath brought her to a calm state as she took a sip and looked out of the window in her room, watching the sun gradually rise.

The smile slowly vanished, replaced by a blank stare. Yingba's words were still fresh in her memory. She could still hear it repeating in her ears.

"Evil will always exist as long as good exists, it will never end. Perhaps it was naive of me to think that killing the Fourteen Evils would do anything but... I don't have to do everything by myself, I just have to do what I can."

Ming Yue thought about it for a while, blankly staring out at the sun. She was still young and there was much that she needed to understand.
