Putting Thing Up For Auction
Though she didn't have as much gold as one would think, she definitely did not lack in treasures. 0
"Fortunately, I had organized everything beforehand, I just need to find a place to sell", she muttered, "Since the steward handed me this badge, the Chamber of Gold would be the best."
Looking through the window, she stared at the auction house that stood at the center of the kingdom. It stood above everything, like a pillar that held the sky over them. She sighed moments later, turning away while calling for Xiao Yin and Hei Yue.
"Hopefully, those berries won't cost me that much."
Thinking this, Ming Yue left the suite and made her way out of the Sunlight Palace. With both the map and the booklet in her hands, she flew off, making her way through the vast kingdom, taking note of places she passed by.
"How interesting, there's a guild for poultry, seafood, pork, and beef. That must be the guild area for leather over there and this is the guild area for bodyguard services."
Even though there seemed to be a guild for practically everything. Many of them seemed to be grouped into certain regions.
For example, the guild for bodyguards was surrounded by guilds related to equipment. Guilds for ores and other materials were close to those as well. Fabrics, jewelry, and everything related to fashion was near each other.
Everything seemed to be planned in a strategic manner, allowing communication to be done with ease. The fact that the roads were also elevated made it easier to navigate as well.
"How long did it take for them to develop such a place?"
Realizing this, Ming Yue had a sense of awe and respect. She was curious about who was able to create such a system for they had to be a genius to achieve this.
With a little sightseeing out of the way, she soon reached the Chamber of Gold, landing at its doors as the two beasts came to her side. Now that she was in front of it, the young cultivator looked up, admiring the sheer size of this auction house.
It resembled that of a pagoda but was much grander than anything she had ever seen.
Each floor had some unique decoration to it, every possible symbol of luck and fortune embellished those walls. Statues of dragons and phoenixes, pixiu and black tigers, and even flowers like peonies and plum blossoms. She could've spent the whole day admiring all of it.
"I should see what it's like inside."
Thinking this, she walked forward, approaching two magnificent red doors as Xiao Yin and Hei Yue followed along.
The doors were already open and streams of people went in and out. Some with victorious looks while others had dejected faces.
As she entered, she took out the golden badge and looked around for reception, seeing multiple counters and dozens of people sitting behind them.
There were lines set up for each one and all of them were quite full of people. Picking one arbitrarily, she lined up and waited, watching what was happening in front of her.
"What? My item didn't sell?! That's impossible! It should've been worth at least a few gold coins! Please, put them into the next auction! I'll set the price at a copper coin!"
"Have them deliver it to my residence as quickly as possible, I'll pay the cost."
"I'm looking to register these for an auction and I'd like to set it at a hundred gold."
"Can you direct me to where Auction 247 is being held? Also, I'd like to exchange some of my money for tokens."
The lines moved quite quickly as each worker moved efficiently. Soon enough, she was next and then Ming Yue stood face-to-face with an older woman who glanced at her before looking back down at some paperwork.
Both beasts peeked over the counter, looking at her curiously.
"Please show me your badge."
Her voice was concise and monotone as Ming Yue held the golden badge and placed it in front of her.
"Hm? Eh? Go-gold member?!"
The receptionist suddenly perked up, giving off a more friendly aura as she looked at Ming Yue.
"What would you like to do today, dear guest?"
Ming Yue found the sudden shift a bit amusing but she had other things to focus on.
"I'd like to put a few things up for auction, the earliest one possible. I do have a lot of to offer", she said.
"Yes, of course!"
The woman looked down at her table, sifting through several documents and schedules.
"The earliest one possible would be Auction 112 but depending on how many items you plan to register, you may have to go for a later time. It may also be better to pick one at a later date if you would like to earn more money", she advised.
"Is that so?"
The receptionist answered quickly.
"Yes! The information for auctions for the next seven days is available to all. Going for a later date allows more people to see your item and could garner more attention. Furthermore, those who have an eye on what you are offering will have more time to gather funds. But of course, there is nothing wrong with choosing the earliest auctions. Merchants and other influential figures will often have multiple people stationed here. As they say, the early bird gets the worm and if the item is good, you will no doubt gain from selling it."
"I see. Then, I'd like to go for the earliest ones possible. As for the set price, I'd like for the Chamber of Gold to appraise it."
Ming Yue's decision didn't change opting to gather money as quickly as possible. When the receptionist heard this, she nodded before handing a slip of paper to her.
"With this, please head to that hall over there to have your items appraised and logged."
Taking the slip, Ming Yue nodded and followed the receptionist's direction, making her way to the hall. There were multiple rooms with numbers on them. She glanced at the slip of paper, seeing the number 6 on it.
"Room 6... Over there."
Finding it, the trio headed over and Ming Yue knocked on the door.
"Come in."
She then entered, greeted by an elderly man.
"Welcome, please, may I have that paper?"
Once passed on, he read it before looking at her with a friendly smile.
"Alright, I'd like to see all of the things that you plan to register into the Chamber of Gold. After that, we can discuss what auctions will be available", he told her.
Nodding her head, the young cultivator approached the large empty table between them and took out all of the things she wanted to sell. Much of it was the spoils of battle, the belongings of those she killed as well as herbs and treasures that had little benefit to her.
From weapons and armor to pills and plants, there were at least a hundred items.
The appraiser quickly went to work the moment she put down the first item, studying them whilst writing down details in a small book. Every now and then, his expression would go through a few changes, sometimes shock, other times disappointment.
Once everything was out, Ming Yue sat down and waited for him to finish. As a veteran appraiser, he completed his work swiftly, placing his brush down and looking up once finished.
"Alright, with the initial appraisal done, I have the initial estimations done. Most of these items can be put up for auction with the exception of a few. Unfortunately, their condition is not very good and I would suggest trying one of the smaller auctions or trading it in. The rest can be registered and there are a few which I'd like to have a closer look at."
