"It's nothing." Perhaps she was being overly cautious. At the very least, she did not sense any ill-intentions.

Fang Xinxin smiled. "Where are you headed to?"

"I'm going back to school. What about you?"

Fang Shaohua waited for Fang Xinxin to climb into the expensive Bugatti before he headed back to his own newly purchased car.

"Shaohua…" A middle-aged woman appeared behind him.

Fang Shaohua was wearing a mask. He turned back to see that the woman was actually Fang Lilan.

The moment his gaze landed on her, he was enraged. He clenched his fists tightly and dug his nails into his palm.

He was almost fully certain that the person who caused him to be imprisoned was Fang Lilan.

This was because his father had indicated that he was supposed to become the Fang Group's director. Only by removing him could Fang Lilan take over his position.

Fang Lilan noticed the hint of hatred in his gaze. She expressed with certainty. "You're Shaohua, right?"

Fang Shaohua paid no attention to her. He reached for the car's door.

Fang Lilan's gaze landed on his brand new car. This car was worth more than a hundred thousand dollars. He was a criminal. Where did he find the money to buy such a good car?

Could it be that he had money hidden away?

She touched his hand before he could open the car door. "Shaohua, Mom wishes to speak to you."

Fang Shaohua pulled his hand back in disdain. He glared at her coldly.

"Mom has waited here for you so many times. It wasn't easy for me to finally meet you. Is your health better now?" Fang Lilan scanned her with an expression of concern.

He was wearing a baseball cap and a mask. She had no way of determining if he was actually ill.

If it was true, then that was fine.

Otherwise … the temporary leave he had applied for, citing medical reasons…

She could use this to threaten Fang Xinxin. This way, that damn whore would have no way but to obediently beg Bai Qinghao for some benefits for the Fang Group!

Fang Shaohua brought a packet of tissue out of his pocket and wiped the blood away from his lips. "Thank you for your concern. I'm just one step away from death."

Fang Lilan had come looking for him in hopes of obtaining information that could be used against Fang Xinxin. Right now however, it seemed like she had to change her strategy.

"Shaohua, ah. You've been released for so long yet you haven't visited Mom at home even once."

"You're not my mom." His tone was indifferent.

"Although I'm not your birth mother, no matter what, I'm still the adopted mother that raised you." Fang Lilan's expression was slightly unhappy.

She then tried to look stern. "You committed such a serious and ruthless crime. I won't talk about how it was a waste for me to bring you up. But at the very least, you should have some respect for me."

"Do you dare say that my plight today has nothing to do with you?" Fang Shaohua smiled coldly.
