"Wha… what happened?" Huo Mian was flabbergasted. All she did was nap for a bit, how the hell did her face become like this?1

"Head Nurse, I'm… I'm sorry, I can't say, I'm scared."

Upon seeing the nurse's hesitation, Huo Mian could guess with her eyes closed who the culprit was.

"Su Yu… you're dead."

Then, Huo Mian ran into the bathroom and quickly washed her face.

It was almost dusk when she came out…

Just as she was thinking where she and Qin Chu should go for breakfast, an unwelcome guest appeared.

A black Porsche 918 stopped outside the hospital.

Huo Siyi, who she hadn't seen in a long time, came looking for her, at 4 AM in the morning.

He was wearing a black leather jacket and had cut his hair short. She could tell that he had gotten a lot more tanned.

It seemed like he suffered a lot from Huo Siqian's orders for him to go to the Philippines.

"Huo Mian," he said coldly.

"Can I help you?" Huo Mian asked in a formal manner.

"My dad told me to take you home."

"This early?"

"My dad got sick last night, so the entire family was up half the night. We tried calling you, but you didn't pick up, so I had no choice but to come here."

Huo Mian did receive a couple of their phone calls last night, but she didn't want to pick up.

She had a feeling that it was nothing good; it turns out that Huo Zhenghai's disease relapsed.

"Is it serious? Which hospital is he at?"

"He's not hospitalized, he's resting at home. He really misses you, you get off work soon, right? Can you come home with me?"

Huo Mian looked into Huo Siyi's eyes; he didn't seem to be lying. She didn't think it was a trap.

Plus, Shen Jiani was in dire need of her help these days, so she wouldn't be able to do anything to her.

After making sure that it wouldn't be dangerous for her to go, Huo Mian gathered her things and followed Huo Siyi back to their mansion.

It was already 6 AM when they arrived, and breakfast was being served.

The family gathered around the dining table; everyone was there except for Huo Yanyan.

"Where's Yanyan?" Huo Zhenghai asked.

"Oh… I don't think she's up yet, she rarely wakes up at this hour. Let her sleep for a while longer." Shen Jiani smiled.

"Is she not up yet, or did she not come home last night?" Huo Siqian asked as he played with a hard-boiled egg in his hands.

Shen Jiani's expression changed slightly…

Huo Yanyan had been leaving early and coming home late for a while now. Sometimes, she didn't even come home at night and hung out with a bad crowd of people.

Shen Jiani told her not to multiple times, but she wouldn't listen, and Shen Jiani couldn't do anything about it…

"Mian… how's work recently?" Huo Zhenghai pretended to care, thus steering the topic away from Huo Yanyan…

"It's good, still the same," Huo Mian answered without much emotion.

"Have you been taking care of your brother's foundation?" Huo Zhenghai asked.

"Yes, I've been in charge of it." Huo Mian nodded.

"I took a look at the accounts, and there's nothing wrong with it at all. You've done well. With your help, your brother can now relax a bit." Huo Zhenghai rarely complimented Huo Mian.

However, she wasn't at all happy about it…

"I'm just doing my job." Huo Mian's tone was bland.

Jiang Hong smiled as she put down the glass of milk in her hand. "Siqian's foundation is really successful, and the media outlets have all reported on it. City officials have been closely following the foundation's movements, and the province issued a tax-exemption clause for the Huo Corporation. So technically, we've really benefitted. I've always known that Siqian was the best at saving money for his dad."
