Chen Jie was a low key person like Huo Mian so she normally didn't put much effort into what she wore.2

Ever since Ni Yang publicly announced their relationship, Chen Jie started to make herself look more presentable, as she was afraid that the media might catch them together and she would make Ni Yang look bad. 

So, she began putting more effort into her appearance, and she now dressed like an elegant lady.

"Pudding, Little Bean… These are the gifts we bought for you two from Bali and Tahiti… There are toys and beach dresses… Hope you like them!" 

Chen Jie handed over bags of gifts.

"Thank you Auntie Jie…"

The twins were great at pretending to be good. When they got their gifts, they immediately thanked Chen Jie.

"Mian, Chu…" Chen Jie greeted with a smile.

"Come in. Dinner's not ready yet. Let's talk first and eat later."

Huo Mian pulled Chen Jie over to the sofa in the living room and chatted with her.

She asked about Bali and Tahiti, and then they talked about South Side.

Time went by quickly. Half an hour had passed by and Chen Jie finally couldn't stop herself from looking at her watch.

"Sister Mian, why isn't Ni Yang here yet?"

"Didn't he come with you? I thought you two came together!" Huo Mian sounded surprised.

"When we got off the plane, we went back to our respective homes. We said we'd meet at your place at six but it's past six now… He's not usually a man that's late…" Chen Jie was worried now.

"Uh… He might be caught in traffic. It's rush hour now…" Huo Mian explained.

Chen Jie nodded and said, "Yeah… maybe…"

Just like that, another 20 minutes passed by and Ni Yang still was nowhere to be seen.

Chen Jie was now so worried that she couldn't sit tight. She sent Ni Yang a WeChat message but he didn't respond.

She called but no one picked up.

Suddenly, Huo Mian's phone rang…

"Hello?"

"What? Say that again…?"

"What? Where is he now?"

When Huo Mian hung up the phone, she looked pale and anxious.

"What is it, Sister Mian?" Chen Jie had a bad feeling about this.

"Jie, I can tell you but you have to promise me to stay strong and calm…"

"What is it Mian?" Chen Jie felt her heart beating rapidly and her voice trembling.

"I just got a call from South Side and they said that Ni Yang got into a car accident on his way here… He's in the ER right now…"

"What?" Chen Jie felt like she was going to faint.

Huo Mian caught her just in time.

"Are you okay, Jie?"

Chen Jie tried to be strong and waved her hand. "Don't worry about me. Let's go to the hospital now!"

"Honey, I'm scared to drive. Can you take us there?" Huo Mian looked at Qin Chu innocently.

"Okay, let's go."

"Daddy, we have to go see Uncle Yang now…" The twins let go of their toys and ran over.

Just like that, Qin Chu drove Huo Mian, the twins, and Chen Jie to South Side in his black Bentley.

Chen Jie was crying all the way, with her hands over her face…

Huo Mian and Qin Chu looked extremely solemn.

The twins tried to calm Chen Jie. "Auntie Jie, don't cry. Uncle is going to be alright."

"Mian, I can't believe it! How could this happen to him?"

"Jie, you have to stay strong. We don't know what the situation is yet. We'll find out more when we get to the hospital," Huo Mian pacified Chen Jie and patted her shoulder.

Qin Chu drove quickly. In less than 20 minutes, they arrived at South Side.

They rushed to the ER.

"Doctor Cai, how's Ni Yang? Is he badly hurt?" Huo Mian asked.

"He was declared dead four minutes ago…"

"What?" Chen Jie felt like her heart was put into an ice cave.

The twins started to cry in pain.

"Jie, you're his fiancée; you should go say your farewell to him," Doctor Cai said to Chen Jie.
