"Yeah, I had been. My people looked through all the abandoned factories around the city…" Gao Ran sighed.1

"Ian's a devious man, and he's fearless. Chances are he doesn't care about cops so… maybe look inside C City, he's probably hiding around here," Qin Chu suggested.

"Chu, have you made plans? You mentioned that… Ian's interested in where Mian is?" Qin Chu only briefly mentioned this to Gao Ran, but he was worried.

"He is."

"Will you and your family be in danger?"

"I'm not sure, that depends on how much Ian knows… or how much Huo Siqian's told him…" Qin Chu wasn't sure if Ian knew who Huo Mian was, so he felt more restless than ever.

"Uncertainty is frightening… anyways, I know you'll do everything you can to protect Mian and the twins. Oh, maybe tell her not to go to work anymore, South Side doesn't seem safe… After all, Mr. Xiang died and Mo Xue'er went missing without anyone noticing," Gao Ran reminded Qin Chu.

Just then, Qin Chu's phone rang.

"I'm with Gao Ran near the bureau."

"I saw Ian just now…" Rick said, his voice as serious as could be.

"What? Where did you see him?" Qin Chu's body froze.

"At a Japanese restaurant near Huaxi Road… I'll tell you everything when I see you, this is trouble…"

"Okay, I'll be right there." Then, Qin Chu hung up the phone and stood up. "Rick saw Ian, I'm going to go see him now."

"Where did he see Ian? Does he know him?" Gao Ran stood up as well.

"Rick's family used to work with Ian's family, they're not enemies, but they're definitely not friends either. Anyways… it's complicated, I'll explain it to you another time."

"Okay, keep me updated. It'll be easier to find Mo Xue'er if we know Ian and his people's whereabouts."

Qin Chu was just about to leave with Gao Ran's phone rang. The latter called out. "Chu, wait!"

Qin Chu turned around, and Gao Ran showed him the video he just received.

Qin Chu's expression changed drastically – it was a video of Mo Xue'er, completely naked, nailed to a cross. Blood was streaming out of her wrists and ankles. 

Mo Xue'er didn't really look like herself anymore, but it was unmistakably her. 

"They're so cruel… I can't believe they would do this to a woman… I'm sure Mo Xue'er would rather be dead right now, I can't take it, f*ck. I really want to catch Ian and shoot him in the head a hundred times…" Although Gao Ran didn't like Mo Xue'er, he still felt awful that she was being played with and tortured like a puppet.

"Who sent the video to you?" Qin Chu asked, his voice was cold but calm.
