Honestly, there was really nothing special about these hair clips, so why did Huo Mian become so emotional upon seeing them?

Back when they dated in high school and on their first Valentine's Day as a couple, Qin Chu saw these hair clips and immediately bought them for Huo Mian. When he wrapped it up and gifted them to Huo Mian, the latter didn't know the hidden meaning behind it until one day, Zhu Lingling pointed out a popular song called 'You're the most beautiful'.

The lyrics went like this: I gave you 12 roses, each as beautiful as you are…

Basically, Qin Chu was trying to tell Huo Mian that to him, no one was as beautiful as she was.

Huo Mian really liked this present, because Qin Chu picked it out while thinking of her. Therefore, she wore the hairclips every day… and although he bought her more gifts down the road, the pair of hairclips would always be her favorite present from him.

All the way until high school graduation, they were supposed to go abroad together, but Huo Mian and Qin Chu's relationship abruptly ended because of the death of her stepfather.

At their graduation ceremony, she broke up with him, once and for all. To make Qin Chu forget about her, she pulled off the hairclips and threw them onto the ground… smashing the roses and Qin Chu's heart into pieces.
