"Mingxi… why are you suddenly… asking about that?" Huo Yanyan forced a smile at Shen Mingxi.0

"Oh, nothing, I just suddenly thought of it."

"My mother hasn't been back to the country for a very long time. Now that she's finally back, it makes sense that she's visiting all of her relatives. Also, I don't know what would happen if Huo Siqian found out about her return… so, I told her to stay longer at the village." Huo Yanyan came up with the perfect excuse. 

"Oh, I see…" Shen Mingxi nodded, saying nothing more.

After dinner, Huo Yanyan sat down with Tiantian to read her a fairytale. Shen Mingxi put on his jacket and headed out.

"You're going out?"

"Yeah, I'm meeting a couple of friends to discuss some business."

"Okay. Don't drink too much and come home early." Huo Yanyan was gentle as always.

It was a quality not possessed by Wei Ying, so Shen Mingxi had always felt happy with Huo Yanyan.

He even thought that what he had with Huo Yanyan was true love.

When he arrived downstairs, Shen Mingxi didn't look too well and unlocked his car.

He got into his new silver BMW and zoomed off.

When Su Yu received Shen Mingxi's call, he had already gotten back to his private mansion. 

He hadn't yet told his grandpa about the twins yet; his family would worry themselves to death.

Su Yu was also beside himself, his mouth filled with blisters too painful for him to eat. 

He walked to the fridge, opened it, took out an ice-cold can of coke, and downed two large gulps.

Just then, his phone rang.

It was an unfamiliar phone number. After some thought, Su Yu picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Su Yu, it's me, Mingxi."

Su Yu remained silent…

Last time, when he and Shen Mingxi fought, he blocked the latter both on social media and on his phone, resolute as could be.

Later on, Shen Mingxi regretted his words and tried to make up with Su Yu through a couple of their rich friends, all to no avail.

He had even gone as far as begging Tang Chuan, but the latter didn't even give him the time of day.

First, it was because of the rivalry between the Wei and Shen families that had Wei Liao and Shen Mingxi hating each other. 

Next, it was Su Yu and Shen Mingxi's fight. That made Tang Chuan even less willing to see him.

Now, Shen Mingxi was calling Su Yu from a new number. He was really trying his best to make amends; he was at Su Yu's feet.

Su Yu thought that he was still calling to apologize for what happened last time.

"What?" Su Yu was very frustrated. He hadn't slept ever since the disappearance of the twins.

Their angelic faces would pop into this head every time he closed his eyes, circling him and screaming his name; the thought of the girls gutted him.

"Su Yu, I want to meet with you." 

"I have nothing to say to you. I'm very busy. I'm hanging up." Su Yu was just about to hang up the phone.

"Wait, Su Yu, I have something really important to tell you. It's about the twins." Shen Mingxi blurted out.

"What did you say?" The mention of the twins immediately caught Su Yu's attention. 

"The twins are missing, right? I think… I might know where they are." Shen Mingxi spoke slowly.

"Where are you? I'll come to meet you," Su Yu asked immediately.

"No, I'll come to you. I'm already on the way."

"Then come to my house. Hurry!"

"Alright, I'll be there in a little over 10 minutes."

Shen Mingxi let out a breath of relief hearing that Su Yu was willing to see him.

After 18 minutes, Shen Mingxi's car arrived before Su Yu's private mansion.

"Su Yu." He nodded as a greeting.

"Where are the kids?" Su Yu asked directly, was losing his mind.
