Huo Mian glanced at Qin Chu; neither of them uttered a word, but their expressions said it all…

"You should know that… I'm just a nurse. Even if I give you all my salary over the past few years, it would still not be enough. I would be biting off more than I can chew…" Huo Mian politely rejected his request.

"Mian… I know you don't have that much money, what I mean is… can my son-in-law… lend me some money from GK?" Huo Zhenghai glanced over at Qin Chu awkwardly.

Son-in-law? Those words sounded disgusting coming from Huo Zhenghai…

Back then, he didn't even recognize his daughter, but now he had the audacity to call Qin Chu 'son-in-law'?

What if Huo Mian hadn't married Qin Chu? What if she married an ordinary man? Would Huo Zhenghai come running over to their home like so?

After a few moments of silence, Qin Chu said slowly, "Indeed, GK has money, but the company's not my own. If a large amount of money is needed, the board members need to give approval first before I can lend it to you. My father also needs to sign off on it… It's a complicated process, and I can't guarantee you anything. If you're okay with it, you can come to the board meeting with me this morning and explain your situation. Then, the board members can decide whether to lend you the money."

"Honey, good job!" Huo Mian laughed as she stood up.

"Huo Siqian sent you a WeChat message last night, but you were asleep. I didn't wake you up and deleted our conversation afterward."

"Oh? What did he say?" Huo Mian was curious.

"He just said that Huo Zhenghai might come asking you for help and that you shouldn't help him."

"That was an unnecessary reminder! I would never help Huo Zhenghai, unless water got into my brain…" Huo Mian smiled. 

Qin Chu decided not to tell Huo Mian about the other thing Huo Siqian mentioned.

Qin Chu believed that the latter might threaten Huo Mian with her family background in the future since it seemed like he knew more about it than anyone else.

Plus, Huo Mian had been trying hard to find out where she came from…

Even Rick couldn't find out who was following Huo Mian, but Huo Siqian did; it could only mean that Huo Siqian was not simple at all.

In the end, Qin Chu chose not to tell Huo Mian about his conversation with Huo Siqian last night, since he wanted to protect her and didn't want her to overthink things.

It was for her own good…

After rejecting Huo Zhenghai's attempt to borrow money from them, Qin Chu and Huo Mian headed to work.

Qin Chu followed Huo Mian's car all the way to South Side before leaving with a peace of mind.

On his way to GK, Qin Chu put on his headphones and dialed a number.

"Hello?"

"Rick… keep a close eye on Huo Siqian for me."

"Huo Siqian? Why?" Rick was surprised to hear this.

"He seems to know a lot of things… I think he knows even more than we do, but he's not willing to reveal anything and keeps being deliberately mysterious. I'm certain something is up with him."

"Okay, I got it."

Rick understood what Qin Chu was worried about, so he immediately agreed.

Upon arriving at South Side, Huo Mian had just finished organizing her stuff and came out of the morning meeting when Chen Jie ran up to her in a hurry.

"Chief, someone just booked an emergency consultation with you."
