Ever since that woman married his third uncle and became his aunt, she moved to another city and they had not seen each other ever since.

It was shocking news that those two would come back to this city and come to Tang Chuan's birthday party.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Su Yu volunteered as he was worried that Tang Chuan couldn't keep his composure.

Tang Chuan waved his hand. "It's okay Yu. I'm fine."

Tang Chuan stood up and walked over to greet his third aunt and uncle. The twins had finished their performance and were offstage now.

Qin Ning looked at Su Yu curiously and asked, "Is that young-looking woman Tang Chuan's third aunt? She looks very elegant, just like a model."

"Yeah, that's her." Tang Chuan had told Su Yu about the time he saw Jin Ying when he had dinner with Qin Ning at Chang'an Street so Su Yu was not surprised to see Jin Ying here.

"Did something happen between them?" Qin Ning felt that Tang Chuan was not himself when he saw that woman. He seemed to be even a bit emotionally unstable.

Su Yu gave a long pause then finally decided to tell her the truth.

"Yeah. Tang Chuan used to love her."

"Huh? So how did she become his third aunt?" Qin Ning was dumbfounded by this development.

Su Yu gave a brief explanation of the story and Qin Ning listened to it in captivation.

"From then on, Tang Chuan changed. He became flirty and acted like a playboy. However, that's not how he was. He used to be very faithful. It was a tragedy for him to meet that woman…" Su Yu sighed. 

Qin Ning sympathized with Tang Chuan's past. It was the first time she saw in real life a woman that was willing to forgo love for money. The appearance of Jin Ying was pure torture to Tang Chuan.

That woman was so shameless that she would come walking all over his life and act like nothing serious happened. 

"He had such a tragic past… It's no wonder why he always looks so giddy. He's just trying to hide his pain. Thank you Su Yu, I understand now…" Qin Ning thanked Su Yu sincerely.

"You're welcome. Tang Chuan isn't just playing with you, he's serious about you. Even though it was love at first sight for him, he would never do anything to hurt you. After all, there's your brother and Huo Mian standing behind you too."

"I never worried. You guys are the ones that worried too much."

After finding out about Tang Chuan's back story, Qin Ning suddenly grew a sense of compassion for this man who hid his pain behind a smile.

Maybe she was even pitying him… At the end of the day, Tang Chuan's story was about him loving unconditionally but being betrayed. 

The wounds he got from that relationship were unfathomable.
