Back at the police station, Nian Xi found that everyone was looking at her oddly. 

She was confused and decided to go to Team B's office. It was their afternoon break and several of her colleagues stayed back to talk to each other. When she approached them, Chen Jing who was the closest to her teased, "Our flower has finally returned. I thought you were going to stay at the great scientist, Mr. Jiang's, place a while longer."

Nian Xi was astonished. "I came back after greeting him."

"Hmm." Everyone was nodding.

Fan Yi was smiling. "I was still wondering why he swapped me out and came up with a ridiculous excuse that my name sounded tacky. I guess he already had someone in mind and he wanted to get closer to that person. Mr. Jiang has great taste; he picked the prettiest one at our station."

Nian Xi frowned. "Jiang Yuning didn't even know about me; his assistant was the one who made the call. He thinks it would be better for me to protect him since I know him."

"All right. No need to get so defensive." Fan Yi was still smiling. "I'm not a petty person. You could have just told me that you already knew Mr. Jiang."

Zhao Fan nodded as well. "We're all from the same team; we would have supported you. In fact, I think you're awesome. How do you know someone so incredible? You're so low key about it as well, but don't be preoccupied with dating when you're in Paris. We can't afford to shoulder the responsibility if something happens to Mr. Jiang there."

"Hmm. Director Wang values this mission a lot."

Nian Xi was uncomfortable hearing them; they made it sound like she made special arrangements with Jiang Yuning to replace Fan Yi.

It would tarnish his reputation as a serious scientist; it wasn't good to be gossiped about like this.

Although he said several suggestive things today, she knew better than anyone that he was a clean slate when it came to relationships. 

"Where did you hear all this from?" Nian Xi looked at them coldly.

After exchanging looks with one another, Fan Yi said, "Huo Lizhi told us this. There's no need to be upset. Like we've told you, we're not blaming you for anything."

She quickly turned and walked to Team A's office. 

When she got there, Huo Lizhi was still telling his fellow colleagues the same thing. "I finally understand why our captain posted her to stay in the office. Can she crack a case based on her looks?"

His colleagues spotted Nian Xi first and their expressions changed. They quickly reminded him, "Alright, that's enough. Nian Xi was promoted here from a neighborhood police post."

"Everyone knows how she was transferred here," Huo Lizhi said coldly. "Look at how many years I spent toiling. How could she have made it here at such a young age? She must use her family connections to get to where she wants…"

"I was promoted at such a young age because I had already spent three years at the police station; I've worked hard for this place. I do everything from the investigation to the filing and paperwork by myself," Nian Xi said suddenly.

Huo Lizhi turned to look at her, and his expression froze. 

Nian Xi laughed coldly saying, "Brother Huo. I used to respect you because you've managed to crack several cases along with Captain Luo. I thought you did your job well, but I guess I might have been wrong. Since you think I'm only here because of my looks, let's duel. I'll show you my capabilities."
