IRIS WAS EXCITED

Iris was holding the lizard in her hand, while waiting for Cane to return, she perched on the windowsill, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. 

Meanwhile, Hanna had lost for word, as she had reminded her the alpha probably would return late because they were having a serious discussion about the tunnel with the merchant and the alpha from the Red Claw pack. 

Yet, Iris didn't listen to her, because she wanted to let Cane know something as soon as possible. This was something important too. 

And when she saw Cane walked in the hallway, she immediately went out of her bedroom. She approached him, which made him surprised. He frowned. 

"What happened?" Cane's mind went to the worst possible thing that could happen while he was away, because that was how he was thinking of the situation. It almost like an instinct for him. 

"Come, come with me, I want to show you something." Iris tugged his sleeve, so he could follow her, though without her pulling him around like this, Cane would eventually arrive at their bedroom. 

Meanwhile, Jace, who walked with Ethan slightly further back, stared blankly at the sight. 

"I don't know when I will get use to see this sight…" Jace shook his head. "I still can't wrap my mind around the idea of Cane is being affectionate with her."

"Get used to it," Ethan said nonchalantly, he didn't find the sight weird. 

On the other hand, Iris took Cane into their bedroom and Hanna immediately excused themselves, leaving the two of them alone. 

"What do you want to show me?" Cane watched Iris looked for her lizard around the room, it seemed when she stood up abruptly, the lizard took the chance to free itself from her grip and hide. 

"Wait, I need to find the lizard," Iris mumbled to herself, as she looked every corner of the room. 

But, after ten minutes she couldn't find the little creature, she grew frustrated. She had been waiting for this moment, but the lizard disappeared. 

Without saying anything, Cane walked toward the door and talked something to the guard out there before he returned to the room and beckoned Iris to sit down. 

"Cane, you will not believe it! I found something amazing about the lizard! I don't know how to explain it, that's why I need to show you!" Iris was very excited and frustrated at the same time, her face flushed red. 

"Just sit down," Cane said patiently, while his mate was still roaming around the room to look for the little creature. In the end, Cane carried her by her waist and sat her down, which made Iris flustered. 

Right at that time, someone knocked on the door and the guard gave Cane a plate of meat, which was still so hot, as the white smoke wafted in the air, the smell of it was so delicious. 

Cane brought the delicious meat inside and soon after, the room filled with this appetizing smell. 

"You have not eaten yet?" Iris asked. This was already close to midnight. 

Cane cut the juicy meat and made Iris licked her lips. She had had her dinner, but the meat before her eyes was still a welcome sight. 

Cane then stuffed the piece of meat into her mouth before she could drool. Her appetite improved recently. "I have."

Iris munched and felt happy of how delicious the meat was. 

On the other hand, Cane stood up and walked behind her, while Iris continued to eat the meat, but when he returned to sit down on the opposite seat, he had the lizard in his hand. "What are you going to do with this thing?"

There was still mystery about how the lizard could end up in Iris's hand. The initial fire stone was with Arthur and the other spies for years, but only when it was kept with Iris, it hatched into this salamander. 

This creature supposed to be extinct during the great monster attack fifty years ago, as the Serafim used them for protection. 

Fifty years ago…

Cane frowned with that time line. Fifty years ago was the first time the lycan attached itself to Haco. Was that a coincident? 

"Oh, I will show you something!" Iris put down the fork and knife, as she extended her hand to grab the lizard, which struggled in Cane's grip, it's small eyes glared at the alpha, but it didn't dare to spit fire on him. 

The lizard was a little bit bigger than Iris's palm now and the color had turned into dark red. She grabbed it with her left hand and then went to the table and took a parchment before her sat down again. 

Meanwhile, the lizard struggled to get the meat on the table. The smell was so delicious and tempting for it to miss it. 

Cane pulled away the plate, like a mean person, to make sure the lizard wouldn't get it. "What are you going to do with that?" Cane didn't hold any regard to the creature. The lizard was only an animal in his eyes, convenient enough to take with them when they were outside.  1

"I was thinking about it this morning, if the lizard was one of the Seraphim's mythical creatures, then it must hold some awesome power, don't you think?" Iris was so excited with her explanation, as she tugged Cane to come with her to the fireplace, while her other hand held the lizard and the parchment. She looked so busy somehow. "And because of what that mysterious man showed me about the lizard's ability, I did some experiment with it."

Iris then stuffed the parchment into the lizard mouth and tossed it to the fire in the fireplace. The lizard would have cried by now if it could. 

After that, Iris tugged Cane along with her to go out and found the first brazier, as she lit it up and the lizard appeared with the same parchment in its mouth. 

"See!? The parchment is not burned!"
