THE NIGHT FOR THEM
"Hi, Iris! It has been a while since I saw you!" Lou said excitedly and became overly chummy, waving his hands without even bothered by the sharp glares the warriors threw at him for being so disrespectful by greeting their luna inappropriately. "Finally we meet again!" Lou tilted his head. "You look chubbier!"
Lou strode inside the dining hall and stared at the food. It was not to his taste, but it was better than anything he had eaten in the last three days.
When he went to the Goffa mountain in search for Cane and Iris, apparently, the alpha managed to return, but then when he was about to go back to the pack, Cane had, maliciously, ordered him to start building the magical device around the pack.
It would take him weeks, before he could go back to the pack house and meet with Iris.
Lou was so mad until he got the second order to find the lizard and give the creature to the guards, so he didn't need to go to the pack house. Of course, Lou wouldn't want to do that and deliver the lizard on his own.
"Chu- Chubbier…?" Iris pursed her lips. Probably the merchant meant it as a compliment, but you shouldn't talk about weight with woman, especially in front of so many people.
Meanwhile, Cane caught the lizard mid air and stared at the little creature, which looked so dirty and in poor state. He then put it down on his plate, which made Iris shrieked, she forgot about Lou's comment of how she became a little bit fat.
"Oh! I am so hungry! I am starving in the mountain! Iris, can you believe…" Lou didn't manage to finish his words when Iris's attention was clearly not on him.
She had other priority.
"Cane, don't put it in your plate!" But, it was too late and she was about to get the poor lizard and asked for another meat for Cane, but her mate simply took her hand and stood up. "Where are you going? You have not finished eating yet." Iris stood up from her seat, because Cane pulled her hand to go with him.
Cane leaned over, almost like he was going to kiss her neck, though he only whispered to her ear. His hand wrapped around her hips and the other on the back of her neck. "I told you that I am going to take you somewhere, let's go now."
All the warrior's jaw dropped to see their assertive alpha stood so close, very close to his mate, as if they were going to do something… or maybe it was only their mind, which didn't work so well and led them into different direction.
The corner of Jace and Ethan's lips twitched. If he only wanted to talk with Iris, he didn't need to make such vague gesture, right?
But then, their attention shifted back to the merchant, who was fuming mad.
"Where are you two going? I just arrived and you already want to go?!" Lou was frustrated, but Ethan grabbed his hand and forced him to sit down next to him.
"Come here, my friend. Let's talk. It has been a while since we meet with each other!" He said cheerfully, but he didn't let go of Lou's hand, so the merchant wouldn't be able to follow the alpha.
Lou narrowed his eyes at Ethan. "Do I know you?"
Ethan was speechless, this merchant was really shameless. There was no way he didn't know him, unless he lost all of his memories, which was very unlikely.
"It's so rare for someone to forget about me, unless there is something not working here." Ethan pointed his head. "Or, you only want to hear the stories about how awesome I am?"
Lou grimaced. "No, thanks. The only awesome person that I know is myself."
Jace almost choked on his drink when he heard that. He thought Ethan and Redmond were already very shameless, but this merchant brought the bar into another level.
Unfortunately, the moment Lou managed to get away from Ethan, Cane and Iris had long gone and he was not a shifter, who could sniff where they had gone and none of them would tell him.
"Damn it!" Lou grumbled. He kicked the pebble in the yard and startled when someone approached him, a figure emerged from the dark. "Ms. Dmitri, what are you doing there?!" Lou patted his chest, surprised by her presence.
"Sir, long time no see," Nala said in small and gentle voice. She approached the merchant in such a way that made him narrowed his eyes. This woman gave off a strange vibe. "I am glad to be able to see you here."
"Well… yeah, me too." Lou was not sure what to say, thus he kept it polite when he talked with Nala. "Is there anything that I can help you with?"
"Actually, yes… I want to ask a favor from you." Nala fiddled with her fingers. She tried to articulate what she wanted and appeared like a vulnerable woman that needed a protection.
If it was someone else, they would have this urge to comfort her, since she looked like a little, weak wolf and you wanted to act as her shield.
However, Lou had seen this trick countless time and had been fed up.
"Sir…" Nala started. They didn't meet often when they were in the capital city, thus to start this conversation was a little bit awkward.
"You can just call me Lou. Tell me what you want. I don't really like to beat around the bush. I am pretty busy now." Lou was a little bit annoyed because he lost his chance to see Iris, thus he didn't want to mingle in this meaningless conversation.
"Lou." Nala's face was lit up when Lou asked to drop the formalities between them.
"Yes?"
"You can call me Nala."
"Okay. Nala." And then Lou turned around, was about to leave, which made Nala surprised and caught his hand to stop him from leaving. "What?"
"Why are you leaving? I have not yet told you what I want to talk about."
Lou narrowed his eyes. "I thought you want me to call your name."
Hearing that, Nala was speechless. She was not sure whether this merchant pretended to be a fool or he was literally dumb.
"No. No. That's not what I want." Nala immediately shook her head, trying to compose herself so she wouldn't insult her potential benefactor.
"So, what do you want?" Lou looked annoyed now, especially when Nala didn't let go of his hand.
"I- I want to ask for a favor."
"Hm. You said that before."
"Could you… would you mind to take me under your wings? Can you take me to be your people?" Nala cut to the main point, since Lou didn't seem to have any patient for a long conversation. "I have no one and I am so far away from home, I don't know this place and because of the dispute between the alpha and the king, I don't think the people in this pack like it for me to be here. Can you help me, Lou?"
Lou raised his brows once Nala said her piece. "You want to be my people?" he repeated the words and Nala nodded. "What you can do for me?"
Nala licked her lips. "I can do anything for you. I will help you with anything…" she said in seductive voice. There was no one there and it was only the two of them and Lou was not a fool, who didn't know what she meant.
"Anything?" Lou raised his brows, the corner of his lips moved upward, as he smirked. "Are you sure, you will do anything for me?"
"Yes." Nala's voice was akin to a whisper now when she moved closer to Lou and press herself against him.
The merchant rolled his eyes with this attempt, but he didn't move away, as he watched what Nala was going to over to him.
"Like what?"
Nala pulled his hand that was still in her grip and placed it over her chest. "Why don't we start with this?"
"Interesting," Lou mumbled.
====================================
Hanna had been taking care of Will this past few days and the alpha was kind enough to let him out of duty for as long as he needed, Iris also didn't call for her when she learned Hanna was with Will, which she was grateful for.
Right now, Will was sleeping, it was very concerning when he slept throughout the night, morning and afternoon. He would only wake up when Hanna reminded him to eat something, but even so, he looked like he was going to sleep again when he was eating.
This condition really concerned her.
However, Will could only fall asleep when Hanna was inside the room, because the moment she stepped out for long, he would wake up and look for her.
He said her scent calmed him down, which made him able to sleep longer, but Hanna didn't want that. it was not normal to sleep for hours every day.
"Will… you need to eat something," Hanna said, she shook his body to wake him up. "Will, wake up for a while and eat, okay?"
Will opened his eyes slowly and looked around until he found her face. "Will you leave me?"
"What?" Hanna was confused with this sudden question. "Did you have a nightmare?"
"I dreamed that you left me," he said in hoarse voice.
"I am not going anywhere, Will."2
"You left me because I slept with someone else…" Will said in small voice, he looked so scared.
