DIFFICULT CONVERSATION

The parchment in the lizard's mouth indeed did not burn, it moved along with the lizard. 

Cane lifted the creature between his finger and stared at it for a while, as his mind was thinking about a lot of possibilities. Suddenly, the value of the lizard increased in his eyes. 

"You have done a good job," Cane said, he kissed the tip of her nose gently, which made Iris's heart warm, so did her face. 

After what happened this morning, she was afraid it would make a setback for whatever progress they had in this relationship, but seeing Cane gave her small kisses like this without being awkward made her felt relief. 

"We need to train the lizard." Cane returned the lizard to Iris's hand and reminded her she needed to keep it with her, out of people's sight, though because of her recklessness, half of the pack had known about the lizard's existence. 

After that, Cane was generous enough to order another plate for the lizard to enjoy, so the creature wouldn't sulk and hide itself again. 

"Sleep, we will go back to the Howling Wolf pack tomorrow," Cane said, as he held Iris in his arms on their bed. It was already passed midnight. 

At this point, Cane used to sleep in a bright room, though he preferred to sleep without any light, but because Iris was afraid in the dark, he adjusted himself. 

There was one time when the fire on the fireplace was died out and Iris was woken up in the middle of the night, shaking and hyperventilating because the darkness that surrounded her. 

After that, Cane made it a habit to check the firewood on the fireplace, if it was enough for the night. 

"How was it with the tunnel?" 

"Everything went well," Cane replied. Though, Lou was trying to act cool and being difficult in some of negotiation, but his greediness leaked out from every pore of his skin. All he wanted was benefit and he got a lot profit from the deal, while Cane made sure to feed his greed constantly, creating a leash around his neck without him realizing it. 

"Will he start to build the magic device?" The original plan was to build the magic device around the Blue Moon pack first, but seeing the change of the situation, of course, the plan should be changed as well. 

"Yes, it will take a month or two to complete it. Once it's done, they can continue with the tunnel."

Iris's eyes lit up. Cane had said it was impossible for him to take the responsibility for other people's lives, but it didn't mean he became careless with their lives too. 

"Sleep, Iris. We need to wake up early." Cane caressed her earlobe, which made her squirmed and held his hand away from her ear. 

"Do I make you uncomfortable?" Iris suddenly asked. 

Probably because the night was so quiet and this made both of them became more comfortable and vulnerable, but Iris liked the conversation they had before they fell asleep, as Cane became a little bit open with what he was thinking and his own feeling. 

"No. It's the opposite."

"Don't you think it is the lycan?" Both of them knew how calm the lycan was in her presence. Therefore, there was this slightly doubt in Iris's mind that the comfort Cane felt from her was coming from the lycan within him. 

"I know my own feeling." Cane was sure about that when he felt the anger that was not his. Such strong emotion was easy to distinguish. That was also the first time the lycan's feeling resurfaced aside during the new moon and when he was in the lycan form. 

"Is it okay for you to hug me like this?" 

Cane immediately knew what she wanted to talk about. After what happened this morning, she must be worried about being physical with him. 

"It's fine. I am sorry for this morning, your head is still hurt?"

Iris shook her head. "It's not hurt anymore." Cane kissed her head as a reply. She was conflicted to bring this topic up or not, she didn't think this was the right time to talk about it. 

"Sleep, Iris. Today was so tiring."

The honest confession from him made Iris swallowed her question and closed her eyes, as she snuggled closer toward him. 

She wanted to ask, because they had made a progress this far and if the day came when they would have a sex, would Cane be violence with her? Iris still dreaded the previous sex with him. 

This morning they took a step further, yet it didn't end up really well. 

But then, Iris realized she didn't know how to bring this matter into a conversation with him…

With that thought in her mind, Iris fell asleep in her mate's arms, she was having another dream about the five swords and the woman inside the empty hall.  2

Meanwhile, the people from the Holy Kingdom, was less than a month away from the continent. 

After a quiet night, the morning came and the first thing Iris realized was Cane had been up, his side was cold. 

Not long after that, Hanna came to her bedroom to help her with today journey back to the Howling Wolf pack. She was talking about Sofia and her worried the alpha would take his pregnant mistress's side because from what she heard the people in the Howling Wolf pack had welcomed her warmly. 

But, Iris was half paying attention to that. 

While Hanna was worried because Sofia would have the alpha first child and tried to console Iris with that fact, her missy was worrying about something else, since she knew Sofia was carrying Redmond's seed, not Cane's. 

Meanwhile, at the other side of the pack house, there was a certain merchant, who was being crabby. 

"Damn you, Cane! Damn it!" Lou rushed to the Riverside pack in hope to see Iris, but when he was here, Cane returned to the Howling Wolf pack with her.
