2It was around an hour before dinner when they arrived and all the member of the Howling Wolf pack welcomed their alpha back enthusiastically, as they were at the point, where they crowded him and talked about all of his achievement in the capital city and how he managed to reveal the evil deed the five alphas had done. 

Kaz, the steward, had tears in his eyes, while Amee and Grilla stood close to him, both women were crying, as they thought of Cane more than just an alpha for them. 

On the other hand, Cane was as collected and reserved as usual, he would answer some of their question briefly, but he immediately dismissed the commotion, as they had guests. 

It was pretty hectic to say the least, since there were a lot of people came to the Howling Wolf pack, as there were the Red Claw pack's warriors and the border warriors that was led by Sir Elijah. It would be quite packed in the warrior's quarter.

As the alpha of the pack, Cane was busy to make the arrangement, not to mention there was another alpha too. 

On the other hand, Iris stood at the side, as the member of the pack would only nod politely at her, acknowledged her presence, but not enough to make her look like an important person. 

Iris could see how desperate Kaz and Grilla wanted to tell Cane about Sofia, but because Cane was with alpha Dristan, they couldn't approach him carelessly. 

Currently they were still standing at the gatehouse, as they slowly walked toward the building. Iris and Hanna followed behind Cane and alpha Dristan, while the other people followed behind them. 

Iris glanced over her shoulder to see Kaz was beaming, seemingly impatient to have some time with the alpha and give him a report about Sofia, that was how Iris saw it. Probably, her irritation had clouded her judgment. 

Iris walked slowly, staring at her feet, counting the leaves on the ground. It was already spring and the weather was warmer, so she didn't wear a very thick cloak, which made her looked like a weird creature, but she looked so gloomy, as if there was this dark cloud hovered above her head. 

She had this feeling again, the feeling when she felt everyone stared at her judgmentally, she felt like no one liked her and she was a nuisance. She fought back the urge to walk in the end of this entourage and made her presence as low as possible, so they wouldn't notice her. 

Or, she could walk faster and reach her bedroom and hid there. All the intrusive thoughts came into her mind and this was suffocating. All of sudden the air was thicker and her anxiety increased. 

"Miss, watch out!" Hanna was not quick enough to hold Iris back, which made her bumped against Cane's chest. 

They had reached the entrance door and the alpha turned around to talk to his mate, but because Iris was more interested at the ground beneath her, she was not aware of what in front of her. 

"Oh, I am sorry…" Iris said, holding her nose. She was not hurt and it was not painful, but she felt embarrassed for how clumsy she was, especially in front of this many people. 

Cane held her by her waist and steadied her. "Tired?"

Iris nodded. That was a perfect excuse for her at this moment. 

"Go back to your room and rest." Cane pulled her hand down, which covered her nose and kissed it. 

If only Iris could hear, she would know how people gasped so loudly to see that. Their eyes bulged out of their socket to witness such gesture from their alpha. 

This couldn't be… something like this would never happen between the two of them, even in their wildest dream. In their mind, their alpha only saw the value of Blue Moon pack on Iris. She was the luna because of the Blue Moon pack and the deal with the king. 

But, what kind of affection their alpha was trying to display right now?!

They were in denial and too shock to process what happened next. 

"Y- yes, I will…" Iris stuttered a bit, she couldn't hear their gasps, but she could feel their stares, as if they would make a hole on her back. 

"I will see you later," Cane said, but because Iris didn't look his way, he lifted her chin and pecked her lips. "I said, I will see you later." He repeated his words. 

"Oh, y- yes… okay." Iris blushed profusely, she could feel this warm feeling slithered on her skin. Crimson color covered her neck and the tip of her ears. 

After petting Iris's head, Cane turned around and walked with alpha Dristan, who nodded at Iris politely, but the woman was too dumbstruck to realize it. 

Kaz, Amee, Grilla and a few other people of the Howling Wolf pack, who followed here, were floored. They couldn't utter a single word, as their mind was trying to process everything. 

However, seeing their reaction, Hanna smiled smugly, she looked so bright and cheerful that alpha Cane didn't hold back from showing his affection toward her missy in front of these people. 

Hanna was not the only one, who looked so delightful to see these people had 'what is going on?!' kind of expression, but Redmond smirked arrogantly to see them, until he remembered he was in weirdly dire situation and his smile fell, as he groaned in frustration. 

"You know what?" Ethan elbowed Jace, who was standing beside him. 

"What?" The beta frowned. 

"Your expression is the same like them, every time you saw Cane was being affectionate with Iris," Ethan chuckled and then tried to mimic Jace's dumbstruck expression, as he opened his mouth wildly and widened his eyes, which made his face looked hilarious. 

"I don't look like that!" Jace was furious, he wanted to grab Ethan's collar, but the gamma dodged him while laughing.
