YOU STILL THINK AS ONE
Due her pregnancy, she used to sleep early, thus she would be asleep after dinner, which meant, she wouldn't be able to attend to the real party, because it only happened after dinner time.
That was why she was very upset, knowing the southerner used to hold a party from the morning to morning, that was their custom, right? Along with an endless sex party. Sofia wanted to use this as her way to relive her passionate night with Cane. She really missed the way he manhandled her.
But, the party would happen after dinner and there was no sex and neverending alcohol? What kind of party was that?
"Luna, please calm yourself down, you don't need to talk so mean toward Sofia. The alpha is very busy with alpha Dristan and needs to sort out a few matters, it doesn't mean he forgot about her." Maria frowned when she heard what Iris said. She looked uncomfortable with Iris, because she was so different from the last time she saw her. "You will hurt her heart."
Iris stared at Maria coldly. It was fine if Sofia hurt her, but it was not okay when it was the other way around?
"Do you want to say that I am heartless?" Iris asked, her expression was devoid from any emotion. At this point, probably she was right that she had turned heartless.
Maria gasped, she put her hand over her chest. "Luna, you put words in my mouth." She shook her head. "I never say something like that."
"The alpha has approved with everything, if you want to complain, you can go and find him, see if he wants to change it." Using Cane was the best way to get out of this situation, to end this meaningless argumentation, because this strayed too far.
"Luna, the alpha is busy right now… is this you, who is responsible for this, why don't you the one, who suggested it?" Jemma, Sofia's maid servant, finally spoke, seeing how Maria could argue with her.
Iris shifted her attention toward the brown hair girl, who was standing next to Sofia, she was around her age and was slightly taller than her, but her eyes reminded Iris of Nala. The way she looked at her was the same like that woman. Someone, who forgot their status.
"Is this the decorum in the East? A maid can talk and even argue with the luna?" Iris's voice trickled with viciousness. For a moment there, she felt this anger that rose up within her. The anger she felt when she stabbed alpha Gill ruthlessly.
It seemed, Iris was not as unbothered as she tried to show it, about what happened with alpha Gill, but because she used to suppress her own feeling and memory, she looked fine on the surface, but the trauma was still there, messed up with her mind.
"Luna Iris, we used to be a slave," Jill said grimly, she was another omega, who was with Maria, following Sofia everywhere.
Maria nudged the girl beside her, because she knew what she was trying to imply and this conversation had gone too far from their initial intention to meet with Iris.
"And you still think as one," Iris replied darkly and turned around, leaving them behind her, because she could feel she was going to lose control over her anger.
This feeling was a mix between the disrespect they showed toward her and her unaddressed trauma. Her whole body was shaking when she walked away from them.
"I can't believe it she said something like that!" Jill was irritated when she was called as a slave. "She knows very well what her father had done to us, right?"
Maria nudged her again to shut her mouth.
Meanwhile, Sofia glanced at Jemma, who then tried to placate Jill. "It's okay, probably she is very tired from a long journey."
"What tired? She has been running around here and there," Jill scoffed, she crossed her arms in front of her chest. "She even tried to emphasize her status as the luna of the pack, as if the people in the pack will look twice at her if alpha Cane didn't mark her."
"Jill!" Maria warned her sternly and then she tried to change the topic and console Sofia, because she couldn't attend the actual party. "I will make your favorite food, okay? Don't be sad."
Sofia nodded meekly, while caressing her stomach.
============================
"Are you not going to do anything with this situation?" Jace asked Cane, as they walked back to the pack house from the training ground. Arthur talked about something important related to the spies that he put in the Celestial Moon pack. "I thought you care about her."
"She can handle it."
Jace was talking about the blatant favoritism that the pack did. They were very clear how they favored Sofia more because she carried Cane's child.
"Are you sure?" Jace frowned. He couldn't understand the alpha at this point.
Cane obviously showed Iris's importance for him, as he didn't hold himself back to display such affection in public, but he didn't do anything to stop them and let Iris to handle it. What he was trying to say with his action?
"She doesn't need help."
Jace frowned even more. "Why don't you tell them all that Sofia is pregnant with Redmond's baby? You can make things clear sooner and the woman can stop flaunting her bulging stomach."
Hearing that question, Cane simply glanced at his beta and walked away, rendered Jace speechless because he couldn't get anything out of his mouth. 1
"A little bit explanation will be nice, you know," Jace grumbled.
In the beta's mind, the reason why Cane kept mum, of course, because with this the king would stop pestering him about the deal of an heir for the pack, it would also deluge the small whisper about his infertility, since they knew what Gerald had done to him, though it was not a big issue and only a small whisper here and there.
But, Jace was not sure about more detail of his reasoning.
