THE TITLE OF THE MISTRESS
It didn't take long for Maria and all the omegas, who worked in the kitchen to gather there. They wondered, why they were called, but immediately quieted down when they saw their alpha's dark expression.
But, despite that, it was the alpha himself, who served a cup of tea for his mate, who had been very quiet all this time.
Cane glanced at her briefly, but he couldn't figure out what was inside that pretty head of hers. He couldn't read her expression, which devoid from any emotions. This fact alone bothered him.
There were around forty omegas before the alpha, waiting anxiously about the reason why they were called here. They could sense something was completely wrong with this whole thing. The tension in the air was very suffocating.
And when finally the alpha swept his dark gaze to all of them, they felt their heart stopped beating. The alpha was angry. He was enraged. They lowered their head even more, until their chin touched their chest, more so the three omegas, who confronted the luna.
Aira and the other two felt self conscious. They realized, they had crossed their boundaries as an omega to criticize their luna rudely.
"Is there something you want to say about the arrangement the luna made regarding the dinner with the royal family?" Cane asked, he was firm, as his voice echoed in this quiet kitchen.
Jace himself could feel how thick the air right now. The tension was so real, the alpha was mad because the disrespect the pack member had constantly shown to Iris.
Never in his wild dream Cane would be so livid like this because of Iris.
No, Ethan indeed didn't exaggerate Cane's affection toward Iris, because the beta had never seen the alpha would be so mad to his pack member like this. He tended to not make a fuss over a small mistake and made it clear what he liked and disliked, but he never gave off a threatening aura like he did right now.
Jace carefully recalled his action toward Iris, just in case, he got into the alpha's bad side without him knowing it…
On the other hand, half of the omegas were confused about it, but some of them knew what the problem was, especially Maria. Her heart skipped a beat, realizing what was this about. She squeezed his hands anxiously and her heart dropped to her stomach when Jill raised her hand to voice out her opinion about it.
Cane's dark eyes fell on the omega.
Maria tried to tug on her sleeve, reminding her like usual how inappropriate it was. Among the other omegas, Jill was the person, who was very vocal about her dislike of Iris. If she spoke all of the things, she said to her, Maria was afraid, she would be punished severely.
Unfortunately, the young omega didn't believe the alpha would do that to his pack member for a woman like Iris. She was a runt and deaf, someone, who was not a match for the alpha.
"Alpha, the luna intentionally excluding lady Sofia from the party," Jill started, she raised her head. For an omega, she was very brave, it was a pity, she was not really sharp to read the room. "We only ask her to reconsider the arrangement because lady Sofia will be so sad if she can't attend."
"Lady Sofia?" Cane narrowed his eyes with the choice of her word, which made the omega cowered. "Since when she becomes a lady of this pack?"
The title was for the mistress of the alpha and they assumed she was one of Cane's mistresses, since it went without saying, she was carrying the alpha's firstborn.
"She is pregnant with your child, alpha… so…" Jill bit her lip, she felt dreadful and under the pressure when the alpha stared at her so intensely like this. Her voice trailed off.
"Who told you to address her as such?" Cane stood next to Iris, who was still sitting on the chair, she seemed to tune off her surroundings. Without her seeing what they were talking about, there was no way for her to know what was going on.
The only thing she knew, Cane was mad. He reprimanded them on her behalf, but then what? No matter how brilliant Cane was, he couldn't make them liked her, especially not by punishing them. It would only direct their dislike toward her even more…
Iris felt like she was walking on eggshell in this pack. People would hate her no matter what she did. Whether she stood up for herself or Cane was the one, who did it, it didn't matter, they wouldn't see her as part of them.
One of the reason why she wanted Cane to stay away from this.
"Sir Kaz… Sir Kaz told us to be respectful to la- to Sofia," Airi replied, because Jill suddenly couldn't find her voice, as she was so afraid to utter a single word under the alpha's sharp eyes.
Hearing that, Cane turned his attention toward Jace. "Call Kaz here and a few warriors."
"Yes, alpha." Jace was not sure why he wanted a few warriors to be there, but he knew, Kaz would need an excellent explanation to douse the alpha's rage.
Meanwhile, the silence inside the kitchen was very suffocating, they thought, they would lose their voice if this continued.
The only sound they could hear was the crackling firewood on the firepit, which made the room became so warm, they started sweating, yet they didn't even dare to wipe their sweat, as they stared at the floor solemnly.
It didn't take long before Kaz entered the kitchen, followed by two warriors, one of them was Stone and the other was Avid. Grilla and Amee came as well when they heard the alpha called all the omega in the kitchen.
"Alpha." Kaz approached Cane, he looked around him and fear crept on his skin, as he didn't know what was waiting for him, since beta Jace didn't say anything.
"You put that woman in the luna's bedroom and now you told everyone to call her a 'lady'?0
