0There was no hesitation in the alpha's word when he talked about how he would kill Sofia right of the bat when they learned the baby had no golden eyes. Probably, she would be dragged out of the bed, still bleeding and would be hanged in such state. 

Sofia was visibly trembling when she heard such cruel word from Cane. 

Some people tended to forget what kind of hell this alpha had survived, just because he was being so affectionate with his mate, it didn't mean, he would treat all the people the same, absolutely not, and Sofia was one of them, who forgot about that fact, especially when she used to hear how all the mistress and women around her gushed over their dream to be alpha Cane's mistress. 

Even Ethan was being reminded again of how calculative and callous Cane was when it came to his plan. He didn't hesitate to kill and make an extreme decision, in order to get what he wanted. 

Prince Vemion and the five alphas were the example and they absolutely wouldn't be the last. 

Only because he had been affectionate with Iris and looked more approachable whenever he was with her, it didn't mean, such tender action would erode his cruel side. 

"No. I don't believe you, the baby is yours," Sofia mumbled to herself, as she shook her head. She kept caressing her stomach, her bad mood agitated the baby and you could see the movement from inside through her transparent night gown. Her hair cascaded down her shoulder, while she hugged herself. She looked so pitiful. 

The sight of Sofia gave a mixed feeling for Redmond, he frowned deeply and his jaw tightened. This was not his place to talk about the matter, but he felt like his heart was being stabbed to see how distraught Sofia was. He could see the movement of the baby too and this didn't make him felt right. 

Meanwhile, Ethan was sympathized with Sofia's current situation and how the statement from the alpha shattered her dream. She was only a tool that alpha Gallot used to get to Cane, Sofia didn't have a say in this matter and if you put all the plot and scheme aside, her wish to be with the father of her child was innocent. She didn't have any ill intention, aside from the fact alpha Gallot used her. 

However, it was not enough to make him talked on her behalf. In this cruel world, where the powerful one wouldn't even blink an eye to beat you down, you need to play the same game as them. It was so stupid if you thought you could win this game with kindness. You must live in different world if you thought it could work that way. 

This was a critical moment. Sofia needed to choose for her own life, for the baby in her stomach. 

"No… no way… the baby is yours…" Sofia lowered her head, she sobbed pitifully, her whole body was trembling when the reality hit her so hard. "The baby is yours alpha… I have never slept with anyone else after that night…" She felt so alone. 

Sofia raised her head, she looked at Cane, hoping to see some kind of mercy, she hoped to be able to see that he was lying to her, but aside from cold gaze, she got nothing else.

"Can you stop begging him to say the baby is his?" Redmond said in angry tone. "I was the one, who was with you that night. Why do you think you were being blindfolded and was drugged?" He clicked his tongue, he didn't even pretense to hide his annoyance with this situation. His mate was there, do you think he would let her watched how he fucked you, while she was standing on the side? You are fooling yourself if you think the alpha would have done that after you watch how affectionate, loving, caring, tentative, protective and devoted he has been with his mate."

Ethan frowned at Redmond when he heard that. He didn't think the last detail was necessary. Cane also gave him a dirty look. 

However, the warrior was so riled up to scold Sofia harshly. "The baby is mine and you are going to kill yourself if you insist to say otherwise."

After all, the alpha had told her that she would be hanged once the baby was pushed out of her body and didn't have the golden eyes. So, what was the point for him to sugarcoat his words, since he knew Cane would go through with what he said. 

"I will give you three days to think about it." After saying that, Cane didn't waste his time and breathe anymore, as he walked out of the room to go to the room next to it, where his mate was still sleeping peacefully. 

Once Cane was out of the room, Sofia cried so hard, she curled her body, while hugging her stomach. She was in so much pain, the revelation shattered a beautiful dream in her mind, the dream of a family that she could have and the life she always wished for. 

In the end, there was no god to answer her pray. She felt so devastated after a high dream she had and now she came crushing down with the reality. 

"Do you want to stay?" Ethan asked when he saw Redmond didn't move to leave the room. He thought, it would be good to leave this woman alone, because it was impossible to talk with her right now. She was still in so much shock, it would take her hours if it was not days for her to recover. There was no point to be here. 

However, Redmond didn't seem like he was going to leave, he didn't budge. 

"I will be here for a while," Redmond said, but it sounded like he was grumbling. He thought Ethan would taunt him for his decision, but to his surprised, the gamma only shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly and walked away, leaving him only with Sofia, who was crying, curling her body and had her back against him. 

The gamma was considerate enough not to say anything about his situation with Sofia right now and it was rich when it came from him, who some time, didn't think twice when he spoke. 

In the end, Redmond stayed there for a whole day and night, he even brought food for her to eat, though he was talking to her harshly and telling her to stop crying, because the sound of it was annoying, but he stayed there and didn't go anywhere. 

"I care for the baby, not you." 

That was what Redmond said to Sofia and to himself, though a day before, he didn't even want to recognize the baby was his. He refused to be a father, but right now he practically took care of the baby and the mother. 

Meanwhile, inside the room next to this. Iris was sleeping well, her slightly parted lips invited Cane to have a quick taste of her before he had to face the king. He would have breakfast with them and after that, he needed to find that damned sorcerer, who refused to say anything about what happened last night. 

He would be busy and probably wouldn't be able to return for having lunch with her. 

Cane snuggled on the bed close to his mate, as he held her quietly. And as if she knew, who was with her subconsciously, Iris nuzzled her head against Cane's chest, as she continued sleeping, she snored softly, contented. 

However, when Iris finally woke up, she found herself was alone, as Cane had long gone. This room looked so big without him here. 

Iris rubbed her sleepy eyes and yawned. Her body felt uncomfortable. She was staring at the ceiling for a while, as she gathered her thought and sighed deeply. 

"I think I missed the breakfast with the king," Iris talked to herself. Cane would have woken her up if it was very important for her to be there, but the fact he let her sleep throughout the morning, until afternoon, which meant, he got everything within his control. 

In that case, Iris wanted to see Hanna. It was lunch and she wanted to have lunch together with her, because the last time, she was sleeping and they didn't have a chance to have a conversation. 

However, before that, a thought fleeted in Iris's mind, as she immediately sat down and looked around the room. 

"Where is that thing?" Iris frowned, trying to remember and then got off the bed, she wobbled and held the bed pole for support because her legs almost gave away. "Ugh! Why I am so weak?" she grumbled to herself. 

She tried to remember those two bottles that Lu showed to her, which he got from Grace. He said Cane had ordered something for her… she blushed with that thought. Didn't she look so eager at this point to do the deed with Cane? She pulled her hair anxiously, feeling so embarrassed by how dirty her mind was. 

But then, it didn't stop her to search for those bottles. 

"I am sure, those bottles are here… I keep them here…" Iris talked to herself. She rummaged the drawer next to the bed, where she remembered she put those two bottles. 

However, when she was in the middle of her hunt, she felt someone behind her and when she turned her head, he could see Cane's face so close to her. 

"What are you doing?" Cane asked, kissing her shoulder.
