The king taunted Cane intentionally and the latter knew about that, but it didn't mean his blood boiled with enraged when his mother was being disrespected like that.  1

He could feel this anger slithered through his veins, but it was not only him, there was another strong feeling ran through his mind at this moment when he caught a glance of lady Cyan briefly. 

The lycan inside him was awaken and the sight of lady Cyan stirred his wrath. 

It didn't happen before when he met with lady Cyan, the lycan stayed dormant. What was different now? Was it he could sense Iris was in danger and all of this because of this mistress?

Cane glanced at Iris, her small face scrunched up, she glared at king Aeon with such strong disgust upon reading what he said about his mother. Weirdly, he felt a little bit better to see how his mate was very angry for him. 

"Aeon," Cane called the king by his name only, since the pretense had been dropped, there was no need for a fake politeness and respect. He didn't deserve that after all. "You are so disgusting, it's so shameful, we relate by blood."

Alpha Dristan was so shocked when he heard that, so did sir Elijah. He shouldn't have provoked the king when they were in disadvantage! Did he really want to die?!

What Cane said alone could grant him a death sentence, but at this point, what made it so different? 

On the other hand, hearing what Cane said, king Aeon was seething. He was about to order all the warrior to attack at once, shredded him into pieces, but lady Cyan stopped him. 

"If you are so shameful of your blood, I can suck your blood out of your body! I will make your mate watch every single drop of your blood!"

Lady Cyan put her hand over the king's and this stopped his outrage, as the king held himself back to let his mistress took over the situation. 

Sir Elijah watched this subtle gesture and he was bewildered how could this mistress tamed the enraged king and actually, the king looked docile with her. He only met with lady Cyan twice and because she was not so stand out among the other mistress, it came as a surprise for her to be able to do this to the king. 

"Alpha Cane, I am very curious of your mate, can't you lend her over to me for a while?" Lady Cyan tilted her head at Iris. She still couldn't figure out what this woman was. She was not a shifter, but she was not a magic user, yet she had an ability that not normal human had. 

"Cyan, if you are not going to hunt for white fox, should we return to the pack? I am so sick of this game." When Cane dropped all the formalities, he did that thoroughly. He looked at her menacingly. 

However, instead of being offended, lady Cyan was smiling instead. She looked so beautiful and cheerful, but the king didn't have any reaction. He looked angry, but that was it, his emotion that he displayed felt so empty if you looked at him closely. 

"Why are you already fed up with this game when it's just started?"

Cane looked around him. There was, at least four hundred royal warriors that surrounded them. It was not a significant number. The lycan had killed twice of this number, but Cane didn't want to resolve to that plan. 

"My king, you can't do this. The people are in favor of alpha Cane, if something happened to him and the public learn about it, it will tarnish your name even further. People will revolt!" Sir Elijah tried to talk sense to the king. 

King Aeon was not a favor king, everyone knew this, especially when he insisted for Alan to be the crown prince, even his own court against it, but it didn't make it any better when he skipped a generation and made a baby as a newly appointed crown prince. 

"Shut up, you interrupt the conversation here," lady Cyan said coldly, as she raised her hand and made a choking movement. For people, who was close to her, they would immediately know what kind of affect it would make. 

At the same time, sir Elijah gasped loudly, while he scratched his neck, as if trying to get rid of the thing that suffocated him. 

His body fell from his horse to the ground, trying to scream for help, but there was no word came out of his opened mouth, while he let out an eerie sound, as if he was being slaughtered. His eyes bulged on their sockets. Fear was palpable to see in those eyes. He was fighting for his life, but then, it was something that he couldn't fight against. 

"Dark magic… it's dark magic…" Alpha Dristan stuttered. His jaw dropped when he watched sir Elijah stopped struggling and his body stayed still on the ground. He was dead. The mistress killed him with dark magic. "How… it's…" His mind went blank. 

Meanwhile, Iris averted her gaze from sir Elijah's dead body, she couldn't stand to watch how he was killed in such painful way. 

The young woman, who was riding a horse with Dyne was crying inconsolably, as the warrior closed her eyes with his palm, so she didn't need to watch the excruciating pain that sir Elijah went through. 

On the other hand, the alpha said nothing, his eyes fixed on lady Cyan. She didn't hold back to show her power, to show them her true color as the dark witch and Cane noticed one thing; none of the warriors were surprised to see this. Did they already know?

"Alpha Cane… we- we are going to die…" alpha Dristan mumbled under his breath. This was the first time for him to really encounter with a dark magic and watch someone died because of it. "She is a dark witch…"

And now, killing sir Elijah was the sacrifice that Cyan needed.
