SOMEONE WAS THERE

Cane was seeing red when he saw Iris was in pain and let out an ear splitting scream, the sight of her turned his eyes into red color. 

"LU!" Cane called the lycan and at the same time, he shifted into his beast form. 

There was no way out. There was no other solution aside from this. Lu was right. No matter how meticulous Cane was to scheme his way to get to his goal, his lack of power was a crucial point. 

'Do you really think, you can only rely on your crafty brain?' the lycan scoffed at him when he tried to force himself out and Cane stubbornly held him back. 'For ten years you have that brain of yours, but without my power, do you think you can breakfree from the slavery? If something happened to my mate, I will not only slaughter your pack member, but all the creature I can get my hand on.'

Cane knew that was true, but his statement about Iris, irked him. 

Yet, seeing Iris was in so much pain, there was nothing more important in his eyes than to stop her pain and the only power Cane could rely on was the lycan. 

He gave up his body and let the lycan got a full control over him. This was a crucial thing for someone like Cane to be vulnerable and couldn't control himself. 

As an alpha, it was in their nature to have a fully control about everything around them, to be in a vulnerable state was against their nature. 

But, at this moment, a realization hit Cane so hard. He was not only willing to give up his dominance and became so vulnerable before the lycan, but he was more than ready to give up his soul, if it meant, he could stop her pain. 

It was not sure, since when he felt this strong and deep feeling for her. 

The mate bond indeed helped them to be closer, but after everything that they had gone through, he knew it was way more than that.

On the other hand, lady Cyan gasped loudly to see Cane shifted into his lycan form. It was the lycan! He didn't shift into his wolf, but a lycan!

"No way…" Oliver gasped, he was kneeling down beside Iris, who had lost her consciousness, he was about to check on the luna, but this happened before his eyes. 

The alpha shifted into the lycan! The cursed creature that had been hunted down by the whole continent!

What about the rumor of the alpha hunted down the lycan? What about the king's order to the alpha to catch the lycan? What about those sayings about the lycan and how alpha Cane managed to track the creature down and save his mate? 

They couldn't believe what they were seeing right now. 

On the other hand, lady Cyan used ten royal warriors as a shield, right in time before the lycan could claw her, but what ten warriors against a cursed creature? It would only take a second before the creature could get to her. 

"My lady, we need to leave!" Leon said urgently, as he went to lady Cyan's side. "It's the lycan! The lycan is the alpha! The whole world should know about this! The people from the Holy Kingdom should know about this!"

"DAMN IT, HACO! Why you only opened your mouth now?!" Ethan was furious when he heard what the sorcerer told him. 

Lady Cyan was a mind controller! And this old sorcerer didn't even talk about that until it was too late?! What the hell was he thinking?! Such important news should be delivered to Cane as soon as possible, so he could take all the precaution! 

And now, he went to the mountain with no enough people to protect him and Iris, while the royal warriors swarmed them up!

"Don't you know how important the news is!?" Ethan really wanted to kick this old man, a claw or two on his throat would be good, but then, since he didn't have healing ability, he probably would have died, if he really did that. 

"I can't! I can't tell you! Only now I breakfree from her spell! Do you think I don't know the important of that news! Damn it!" Haco barked back at the gamma. If he could, he would have let Cane knew about that!

The problem was; he didn't expect lady Cyan to be a mind controller, thus he was not prepared when she put him under her spell. Thankfully, Haco was also a dark magic user, he was not a weakling, or else, he would be a puppet that was played by her hand right now. 

"She read some information that I know! I stopped her, but I am not sure how many information that she had gathered when we made a contact last night!" Haco looked so frustrated with this whole situation. He was drained because of his attempt to be free from that witch. 

Ethan felt his head throbbed painfully. He thought, they were already in the worst situation possible, but now he knew, the situation only got worst and worst. 

"Aliana, you come with me too, we need to look for the alpha." 

Jace was here to defend the pack and Will had gone to the Riverside pack to get their warrior in order to help them here, so Ethan would lead this small group to find Cane and the other. 

"Jace will kill you if he learned you take me to the mountain in this mission," Aliana said casually, but actually, she had prepared herself to join this group. 

"It is a waste of your talent to keep you in the orphanage," Ethan grumbled. "You should have joined our training instead of playing with children."2

Despite her sweet and kind appearance, Aliana was a fighter. If she was a man, probably, Cane would have chosen her as his gamma. Needless to say, this woman could fight Ethan head on if she wanted. 

"Don't worry, let's fight Jace together if he were going to kill you," Aliana said, as she patted Ethan on the shoulder. 

Ethan grimaced when he heard that. "Thank you, that's comforting enough," he said sarcastically and then faced the fifteen young warrior, who were ready to go into a battle. Jace would really kill him if he knew Ethan led these newly appointed warriors to Goffa mountain. "Listen up! Nobody will engage in a battle, we are going to scout the area and look for the alpha and luna! Stay low and don't reveal yourself if you could help it! Escape, runaway if you think you are in danger and most importantly, don't die."

Ethan felt like he was the one, who was going to die right now… the tension was crazy.

"Lady Cyan…" Leon called her, he looked dumbfounded to see how the lycan killed all the royal warriors, who were trying to get close to him, to stop him from breaking through the barrier that lady Cyan had put around her, Leon and the king. "We need to go… we need to get the king to a safe place. The lycan is insane… this creature will kill us." 

Lady Cyan gritted her teeth. Her barrier wouldn't last for long, as she had drained her energy to control the king and all the royal warriors, while Leon was loyal to her, as he begged her to spare his daughter, this old warrior wouldn't be able to help with anything if the lycan broke the barrier she had created. 

Before their eyes, the lycan had brutally killed the four hundred royal warriors that attacked him, within less than two hours. 

Blood seeped through the ground, the metallic scent was so strong, it was actually very suffocating, especially for the shifters, but the king stayed in his angry expression without saying anything. 

Lady Cyan tried to harm Iris, but the lycan didn't let anyone to touch her, not even came close to her, while the four beasts added more layer to her protection. 

And now, when all the royal warrior had died, the only one that stood before her eyes was the lycan, while Iris and the other four beasts were no one in sight. 

The red eyes of the lycan looked as bloody as the blood on the ground. He looked so feral and was ready for another showdown. He barred his fangs and his claws were sharp enough to cut through steel. 

This barrier wouldn't stand his attack for long. 

But then, lady Cyan's eyes lit up when she saw someone from behind the lycan, at the same time, the beast also sensed this person, as the lycan snarled viciously. The beast's black fur looked shiny with blood that coated him. 

"Father…" Lady Cyan called this person under her breath. She knew, she would be out of trouble with her father was here.

Iris felt her chest split into two when the pain was very unbearable. Her ears kept ringing and this made his head throbbed painfully, as if there was someone, who hammered her head. 

She closed her eyes and hoped the pain would subside soon, since she realized this was Lady Cyan's curse, but once it did and she opened her eyes, she was no longer inside the forest of the Goffa mountain. 

Iris was laying down on the floor, inside this empty hall, where she knew the five swords were there.

"Iris."

Someone called her and she turned her head to the source of the voice when she heard that.
