NEW MOON
"Father! I can't see anything!" Lady Cyan was frightened by the darkness that engulfed her, as black wisp came from her mouth and ears.
She dropped to her knees and then sobbed, while still trying to defend the barrier that they had created earlier to prevent them from being shredded by the monsters like the king.
"Father! I can't see anything! What happened to me?!" Panic washed over her whole being, as her whole body was trembling.
"Shut up! Shut up!" Zeke barked at his daughter. He felt like she was a huge burden now, he hated it when his people showed weakness. "Shut up or I will be the one, who will kill you!"
This was not the first time for Cyan to hear the way her father talked to her harshly and cursed without any scrupulous.
Therefore, she knew better not to make him even more upset than he already was.
Biting her tongue, Cyan continued to strengthen their protection blindly, while her father tried to kill the monsters that threatened to break their barrier.
On the other hand, probably, for the first time in his life, Cane couldn't care less about the monsters that surrounded them, as his mind was preoccupied by another matter.
It was the lycan. All this time, it was this creature that had summoned those monsters every now and then.
When Cane shifted into his lycan for the first time, he would be in the Goffa mountain and stayed away from people, as the lycan let loose and killed a few monsters that he could find.
But when Cane had taken over the Blue Moon pack, Iris was there, where he realized the pain decreased significantly because of her presence, but because of what he did to her, in the second new moon, Cane was alone again, while the third time, the monsters broke through their defenses and harmed a lot of people.
'It's you all this time.'
'Nah. Don't put the blame on me completely, it's not always me.'
Cane ignored that part. 'You let those monsters rampaged.'
'You are not a magic user, your body is not ideal with my power. It's a little bit hard for me to control it.'
Cane was silence after hearing that and it cleared something in his head. 'You are the one, who had summoned the monsters in the palace.'
Lu scoffed. 'You can't put the blame on me completely, shifter. Someone else opened the portal to invite the monsters to come through, I just helped them to make things more excited.'
Cane seemed understood, who that person that Lu talked about. Knowing that merchant's personality and what Iris said about him being a magic user, it was not hard to guess after what Lu revealed.
Meanwhile, Haco was having a hard time to put the barrier around them, he also watched in horror to see how the king met his demise in such brutal way.
"Cane… the king is dead…" His eyes widened, as fear crept in because he could sense the ominous danger in the future. The king was dead in the Howling Wolf pack's territory. What Cane would do to fix such huge trouble? "Cane… what are you going to do?" Haco was frightened with their future, if they had any after this…
"You can't revive him, let him stay dead."
Haco frowned and glanced at Cane, as he saw his golden eyes. He only wanted to make sure that he was talking with Cane and not to Lu.
It seemed, the lycan's sardonic personality rubbed on the alpha a little bit.
"I hope you have a great, great, great plan to explain the death of the king in your territory and how his mistress turned into a dark sorcerer." Haco didn't realize it in the beginning, but it seemed, lady Cyan was Zeke's daughter to see the similarity between them. He cursed himself for not realized it soon, but then, how he would know about that?
Cane didn't plan to kill Aeon in this way, but after the king learned about the lycan and how he was actually controlled by lady Cyan, Aeon was no longer held value in Cane's eyes, because the real threat here was those father and daughter before him.
With how everything had turned out, Aeon was not a problem, he was only a puppet. After all, Cane didn't intend to let anyone, who learned about the lycan out of this mountain with their lives.
Cane also was not really worried about Iris, since she was not too far and he still could sense her scent. She was still with the other four warriors, which whom, he would deal with them later.
"Father, we need to leave," lady Cyan said through her gritted teeth, as she was having a hard time to keep up the barrier. She only had encountered monsters a handful time and all those times, she would have the royal guards to deal with these nasty creatures.
Zeke growled dangerously. He didn't want to leave. He wanted to take that lycan with him. He would be the perfect offering for his master.
However, his daughter was right, these monsters were too much, still, he didn't want to budge. His eyes fixed on Cane greedily. He had been wanting to get his hand on this lycan for so long.
He didn't even recognize Haco as one of his juniors from decades ago. Someone that he had tricked to get to the shrine of the lycan. 2
A little bit far from them, the four warriors were on alert when a horde of monsters swarmed a large area of the mountain, while the ominous dark wisp still hung above their head.
"What is actually going on?" Oliver couldn't comprehend the situation, he couldn't wrap his head around the fact their alpha was actually the lycan. He still hanged up with that revelation and now these monsters.
Thankfully, none of the monsters came toward their direction, as they hid inside a small cave, a little bit higher, where from this vantage point, they could see everything was a little bit clearer, though the black wisp still obstructed his vision, but he still could see Haco put on barrier around him and the alpha, who had shifted back into his human form.
Dyne and Oliver were in their beast form, so they could act fast if there was any danger came toward them, while Eron took care of Iris. She was still unconscious after whatever thing that lady Cyan did to her. Her face was pale and she was sweating, despite her body was so cold.
Meanwhile, alpha Dristan's mistress, was sitting on the corner of the cave, curling herself, trembling in fear. She was too shock to speak and despite all the torture she had gone through, she had never been so scared for her life like right now.
"We need to go back to the pack," Eron said, he tried to wipe Iris's sweat with his cloak, but his cloak was so dirty. He didn't want to use it on her.
"I don't think the pack is safe," Oliver said. He frowned.
"What do you mean?" Eron growled, he didn't want to hear another trouble again when they had already enough. All of them were still shaken from what had happened, especially with the fact their alpha was a lycan.
Did he get curse when he tried to save Iris? Was that the reason why he could shift into a lycan? They were not even sure how this lycan things worked and how one could become a lycan.
"If the king has planned this whole thing out, do you think our pack will be spared?" Oliver hated the idea and he wished he was wrong, even if he was right, he prayed Jace could do whatever it needed to protect their pack and their people.
Silence descended in that small cave, while the monsters were still running rampant below them.
To their surprised and utter disbelieve, the monsters kept coming, as if they were being led to come to this place and the three magic users showed their greatest power to be able to stand for so long against this vicious force.
Everything lasted until the sun down and the night came. Tonight, was a new moon and for those people, who knew about Cane and the lycan, they completely forgot about this fact, so did the alpha himself.
Cane looked up to the sky and felt a surge of energy spiraled in his blood, as the lycan became stronger and pushed him down once again, as Lu resurfaced and at the same time, Iris finally opened her eyes.
"Luna Iris!" Eron exclaimed in joy and worried in his voice. He looked relief to see Iris finally regained her consciousness.
Meanwhile, Dean and Dyne shifted back into their human form and approached Iris along with Oliver.
"How are you feeling, Luna? Do you feel any pain?" Eron asked worriedly. If it was not the luna, he would check her himself, but thankfully, he knew better not to touch her.
Iris blinked her eyes and looked around. It was not so dark here, but one thing that Iris realized was; she was no longer as afraid as usual and somehow, this darkness was so comforting. It was weird feeling from someone, who had been traumatized to be in a dark place.
"Where is Cane?" Iris asked, while Eron helped her to sit down and give her a waterskin, so she could drink some water.
It was Oliver, who came to her with stern look on his face.
