THE NIGHT FINALLY ENDED
Rei hated the lycan ever since he appeared in Na's life and even more when Na became infatuated with him. She looked happier, but it broadened her emotions and this cursed creature introduced her to hatred, vengeance, sadness and all negative emotions that she shouldn't have as the Serafim. 1
The lycan had opened the gate for those feeling, which allowed Decratic to grow stronger, as he was the opposite of the Serafim, he was fed by her emotions. The more tainted the Serafim's heart was, the stronger he became.
Therefore, the lycan was not a good news for the Serafim.
But somehow, after five hundred years, after everything that Rei had done and all of his effort to make sure they would never cross path in this lifetime, they found a way to be together again. They shouldn't be fated together if the lycan brought nothing, but misery.
However, fate was a mysterious thing.
"Lu," Iris called the lycan and caressed his head. She felt better now to finally be able to touch him again. The sun would rise soon and Cane would be with her. She wanted nothing, but her mate.
Most of the time, Iris was so clear with what she wanted and how she felt. And now, she wanted nothing, but be with her mate. She could care less about Decratic or whatever past they had… she only wanted Cane and there was no doubt the feeling was mutual.
"Lu, step back. Do you want to ruin her life again?" Rei asked, he took a step closer and the lycan was ready to attack him.
This cursed creature didn't play a game when it came to his mate, he wouldn't let anyone, or anything to touch her. He wouldn't give a shit about the world or Decratic or anything, as long as he was with his mate.
"Lu, you have brought misery to her life and now, you want to repeat the same thing again?" Rei pressed his lips. They had this conversation in the past when he saw how Na became more and more attached to this lycan, but Lu didn't care much about it.
On the other hand, after hearing what Rei said, the lycan charged forward, he was ready to end his life, so he wouldn't need to hear such nonsense anymore. He was sick of him and he was sick of his bullcrap.
If in the past, he didn't want to listen to him, so why he started it now?
The lycan moved so fast, but not as fast as Rei, as his speed was unparallel. His speed was akin to a lightening, in a blink of an eye, he was already next to Iris and wrapped his arm around her hips to take her away again.
However, Iris had seen that coming, thus she had prepared herself, knowing the speed of the lycan couldn't match with this mysterious man.
Before Rei could take her away again, she had drawn her dagger and stabbed his shoulder. She even twisted the dagger to inflict more pain on him.
"I told you, I don't want to go with you," Iris said coldly and pulled the dagger, which exacerbated his wound.
Rei gasped loudly, he didn't expect that and when Iris struggled to free herself from him, he couldn't hold her back, since his arm lost it strength and blood oozed out from his wound. He gritted his teeth and watched Iris rushed toward the lycan.
Here he was, staring at her back again, watching her going back to that cursed creature. It felt like déjà vu, as if he was thrown to the past. To the moment, he realized, he protected her not because she was a Serafim, but because he truly cared for her.
Iris went to the lycan with her bloody dagger still in her hand. Her former self would have trembled in fear if she was as much as hurting someone, but for her to actually take the initiative to stab Rei to defense herself, showed how much she had changed.
After all, she had seen enough for her to harden her heart and endured so much to be able to come out of her shell. This was something that Cane wanted her to become, someone much stronger, though the alpha disliked it…
Cane loved her naivety and how pure she was in this chaotic and full of schemes world, but then, this side of Iris, suited whatever hardship that would be thrown at them.
"Iris, you don't understand, you shouldn't be with the lycan!" Rei growled, he clutched his shoulder, as blood oozed out from between his fingers. "This is what Decratic wanted! You will only repeat the same thing! You are full of vengeance and hatred now!"
However, before Rei could talk more, the lycan had charged forward to silence him. This time, with the wound in his shoulder, he would have a hard time to perform his daunting speed.
Yet, it seemed, Iris should have stabbed his thigh instead of his shoulder, because before the lycan could approach him, his figure had flickered and disappeared from their sight.
Seeing this, the lycan immediately went back to Iris, thinking Rei would appear next to her, but after a while, they couldn't see his figure. He had no scent as well, so it was hard to tell whether he had gone for good, or only waited for a chance to snatch Iris away.
"I think he has gone…" Iris said. She couldn't feel the trace of black magic on Rei, but then, it was very faint to begin with.
Not so long after, the sun started to rise on the horizon, illuminated the dark corner of the forest, as the ray of the sun fell on the surface of the waterfall and the sight was so breathtaking to see when the light scattered.
Beside her, the lycan started to shift into human form.
The long night finally ended, with a lot of casualties and new revelation, but it left with more question.
