The Power of Reincarnation
"LADY TILLY, please stay with us!"
Tilly wondered why Saint Forrester said that.
But she couldn't talk out loud because she was yet to stop coughing up chunks of her Black Flame. However, she realized what the saint meant when she moved her hands to wipe the drool on her face.
The arms and hands that she saw had turned semi-transparent.
[Oh, I'm vanishing…?]
"Dammit!" Saint Forrester cursed in frustration when he tried to grab Tilly, but his hands only passed through her. "Lady Tilly, please create a big flame as soon as you arrive at your destination so I can find you!"
That was the last thing that Tilly saw and heard.
The next thing she knew, she was already in a different place.
<"Are you really going to get rid of me?"
Hmm?
Tilly raised her head and realized that she had really gone to another dimension.
And that the person who greeted her was a familiar face.
"You're the child I met in the Abyss before," Tilly said, looking at the child who looked a lot like her. "The Black Flame."
Ah, right.
Tilly remembered an important fact.
[The Black Flame controls the Abyss.]
"What do you mean by getting rid of you?" Tilly asked while getting up. Thankfully, she finally stopped coughing up chunks of Black Flame. The pain that she felt in her throat and stomach earlier had also disappeared. "We're trying to remove the Abyss that was connected to the Plane. Don't tell me, the Abyss is your home or something?"
<"Yes, that's correct– the Abyss is the home of the Black Flame."
"…"
Tilly didn't expect her hunch to be correct.
[But I guess it wasn't a 'hunch.' The memories of my life as Soleil Rosenberg aren't that clear yet. Even so, I still lived that life. So those pieces of vital information are probably engraved at the back of my head.]
<"Moreover, if you removed the Abyss on the Plane, then you'd lose the power to help your loved ones get reincarnated the way you want them to be reborn. Of course, that also applies to you. Once the Abyss on the Plane is gone, you might never get reincarnated again. To simply say, this might be the last life that you get to live.:
Oh.
Tilly gulped and clenched her hands.
For some reason, hearing the consequences of removing the Abyss on the Plane was making her resolve waver.
[I mean, the power to decide for your loved ones' reincarnation is pretty tempting.]
She knew that it was wrong to think that way, but she couldn't help it.
<"And, even if this wasn't your last life yet, then you wouldn't have the power to decide when or where you'd get reincarnated. Once it happens, the possibility of meeting your husband and your children again in the next life is extremely low."
Ah.
Hearing that made Tilly's heart thump against her chest hard and fast.
[I might not meet Kiho, Winter, and Julian again in the next lifetime?]
She didn't want a life without her husband and their children.
<"To be fair, meeting new people is normal for ordinary humans who get reborn. But you do not like that kind of change, Supreme. That's exactly why you put the Abyss on the Plane. You're too scared to lose your people, so you ended up swallowing the ability to decide how your loved ones would get reincarnated."
Tilly's eyes slightly widened in surprise. "I was the one who put the Abyss on the Plane? Am I that powerful?"
<"Of course, Supreme. You're the person who swallowed the sun, after all."
She now knew the meaning of that infamous phrase.
"I swallowed the sun, aka the power of the gods that they put away to keep the balance in the world," Tilly murmured to herself, then she gasped when the realization hit her. "Serafina is the guardian of the Plane. Did I swallow her ability to send the souls on the Plane to their next lives?"
<"That's correct, Supreme. But you put the Abyss on the Plane so only the people you cherish would get the chance to be reincarnated the way you want them to be. And the perfect example of that selfishness of yours would be Solenn."
Right.
Solenn, the only daughter of Tilly's nephew, had lived again and again as Solaris' daughter.
It couldn't be called a reincarnation, to be fair.
After all, being reincarnated meant being given a new life to live.
But Solenn was always born as Solaris' daughter, so it was as if the young princess had only been revived again and again.
[Worse, I did that without asking for Solenn's permission.]
It was as if someone had poured cold water on Tilly.
She thought the power to decide how a person would live in their next lifetime was tempting, but not anymore.
[To have that power… it's disgusting.]
"It's making my skin crawl," Tilly said, looking at her hands and clenching them hard. "I don't want this power. After all, a mere human shouldn't get to decide how another person should live."
<"Then is it safe to assume that you want to get rid of me?"
"I want you to remove the Abyss on the Plane," Tilly said, looking at the Black Flame in her human form. "But I never said I want to get rid of you."
<"Then what do you want me to do, Supreme?"
The smile on the Black Flame's face was kind of eerie.
But Tilly knew that the two of them had the same thing on their minds.
"You know what we need to do, Black Flame," Tilly said, unclenching her hands. "It's time for me to spit out the "sun.""

[IT'S DISAPPEARING…?]
Asher Forrester was busy locating Lady Tilly after he stabbed the Holy Scepter on the floor.
Of course, he knew that getting rid of the Abyss on the Plane was important. But he couldn't concentrate on it after the Supreme disappeared.
[I mean, Kiho would kill me if I lost his wife…]
But, fortunately, it seemed like he succeeded in getting rid of the Abyss on the Plane?0
However…
"What is that?" Asher asked, knitting his eyebrows. "Is that a small Black Hole?"
