The Last Fuxi

While the eye was staring at Zhong Yue, the young man was still searching around for the gods' graves. However, even though he was able to find a few, there weren't anything that happened anymore. The light rays never came out again nor did the skeletons were revived.

It was as if the bizarre light rays have learnt of their mistakes and stopped going near to him anymore.

Strange, the power of the Six Paths in here are different in the Returning Ruins. In the Returning Ruins, the power of Six Paths is nearly everywhere, but the power of Six Paths here is like it is alive, Zhong Yue thought puzzlingly.

Creak…

Noises of rusted gears creaking could be heard coming from far away, as well as the noises of blunt objects banging together. They weren't loud usually. But in this dead quiet city, they appeared to be incredibly perceptible.

Zhong Yue traced the noises; the closer he was, the louder the noises rang in his ears. Zhong Yue walked past a line of trees and the found himself standing in front of the greenland—a land paved with green vines on the floor like a huge net, there wasn't a single spot on the floor wasn't covered.

While the noises came directly below the green vines.

Zhong Yue cast the Golden Feathery Peng Sword out and slashed down some of the vines in front of him.

It was dark beneath, he couldn't see anything at all. But the noises grew louder and harder.

He slashed down again one time after another, breaking the vine webs away. After some time, the green vines were finally all destroyed.

Then, the young Fuxi stood still like a statue, not moving a single inch at all, except for his widening eyes.

It was a pit, its top was sealed with a crystal clear barrier and it was large. So huge that it was more than enough to bury an army of soldiers in it. While in fact, it did.

He couldn't tell how deep was the pit, for it was filled and crawled with uncountable skeletons. These skeletons stacked on top of one another and were trying to escape from the inescapable pit.

The creaking noises came from the skeletal hands that scratched on the barrier and the banging noises were when the skeletons rammed their skulls on the barrier.

The spiritual energy in these skeletons were yet to fully disperse, some of their bones were still engraved with the totem patterns, some were the races' innate totem patterns while the others were carved during their cultivations.

These totem patterns were incredibly profound, the spiritual energies were still strong but also fading. A mysterious force was drawing them away from the skeletons.

Zhong Yue stared at the skeletons, his eyes were brimmed with pain and sorrow.

The Fuxi Clan.

The uncountable skeletons in the bottomless pit, they were all the gods of the Fuxi Clan.

The gods of Fuxi were all buried in the pit, he couldn't even count how many of them were there in the pit. These skeletons were still struggling, trying to climb out, roaring and shouting voiceless; as if they were oblivious of their death.

Tears rolled down the young man's cheeks.

Even the always noisy and unrestrained Xin Huo kept quiet, he was looking at it through Zhong Yue's vision.

As soon as Zhong Yue's tears dropped on the barrier, it rippled like a poll of clear water. All of a sudden, the skeletons inside of the barrier settled down, they were quiet and stood still on the spot.

The skeletons raised their heads up, there were the eye sockets where the divine third eye would be on their foreheads.

Then, from the divine third eye's sockets, the Fuxi skeletons released bright divine rays that formed a light beam piercing up into the sky.

Zhong Yue was swallowed by the lights without even trying to evade at all, he stood steadfast on the ground.

Moments later, when the lights faded away, Zhong Yue found himself sent out from the City of Nature again. This time, he appeared inside of a battlefield.

There were banners and flags fluttering in the gales, they were shabby and torn. Divine weapons scattered across the floor and the broken warships that have crashed down from the sky.

Headless bodies and shattered corpses paved the ground and painted the land.

While high up in the sky, there were many six-colored light wheels spinning, looking like the Six Paths Reincarnations.

But there wasn't only one of it, there were hundreds!

These Six Paths Reincarnations have filled the sky, there should be some magnificent figures sitting or standing in front of the light wheels but none of them could be seen.

Then, further away from him, Zhong Yue noticed Mother Da Zhen and startled for a second.

She was taking the form of a huge mother insect, it was a secondary body she prepared for herself when there was a need for her to give up on her old mortal body. But this was also the time where she was weakest in prowess, there was no way she could protect herself anymore if Zhong Yue wanted to kill her now.

But Zhong Yue has moved his eyes away her and looked further away. Mother Da Zhen was shocked and heaved a breath of relief after, "This brat, has he gone mad? Why would he ever let such a good chance slip away…"

There were battles going on the other side. Zhong Yue looked over and found the Fuxi gods warring with their enemies.

While up high in the sky, there were huge hands that came out from the Six Paths Reincarnations and slammed down. Along with the hands, there were many other divine weapons that slashed at the Fuxi gods as well.

"Fuxi Clan!", an imposing voice came reverberated the sky, "Your time has end, your race has end. There is nothing you can do about it!"

"Give up, surrender yourselves!", another voice said.

"The Fuxi has conquered the universe for too long, but even your Earth Order Era will eventually come to an end. Stop fighting and bow before us.", a voice said, it was so saintful as if the voice alone could order the weaklings to follow the commands unconditionally.

"The Fuxi Celestial Race is defeated, there is not even a glimpse of hope left for you!", a lady's sweet voice said, "From today onwards, there will be no more Fuxi. Heed to our commands and swear your fealty, you can still live as the human race. We will not kill all of you…"

"The losers should bow before the winners, those who are defeated are in no place to negotiate. Bow down to us now!"

"Kneel!"

There were many voices that burst out from the high sky, "Heaven is kind and graceful, you will be spared from death! Lower your dignity and pride, kneel and you survive. Are you all really going to fight to the last of Fuxi?"

But no matter whatever way, be it persuasions or threatenings, none of the Fuxi replied a single word. They all gritted their teeths and fought even harder in the battles.

"Then, I guess that leaves us with no choice. The Fuxi Clan will be wiped out of existence, here and now.", one of the voices sighed and said.

One after another, the Fuxi gods have fallen. They were still fighting but their peers were lesser with every second. Eventually, only a lady Fuxi was left standing. She was beleaguered by the enemies and soaked in the mixed bloods of her own, her people and her enemies.

"Kneel."

The voices pressured again, "The 3,000 Six Paths Worlds are cleansed from any Fuxi, you are the only one left. Kneel down, we can let you go. This place will be yours to claim and you will spend the rest of your life in here. You are the last Fuxi alive, you deserve to be treated nicely."

The Fuxi lady raised her head and a satirical expression climbed on her blood-stained face, she said, "In this world, there are no Fuxi that will bend their knees! The only time we do so, is when we die fighting!"

Silence repleted the battlefield. Then, an indifferent voice said, "How stubborn, I don't understand at all. There are quite some peers of yours that have sworn their loyalties, their knees were bent and their heads lowered. But you, why are you still persisting? Is it not good to be alive, to be our food and playdolls?"

The words have clearly struck on her, she glared a pair of eyes in anger and bolted into the sky. She was heading for the Six Paths Reincarnations and refuted loudly, "The Fuxi are never ones to bend the knee, the ones that do so ... are not Fuxi!"

Puck!

"There goes the last Fuxi, what a pity.", a finger was seen casually pointing at her head and along with a soft sound of explosion, her decapitated body fell from the sky.

The light wheels in sets of six were shuddering, it was as if the many magnificent existences were shaking their heads.

A deep sigh resounded the sky and it said, "If she has knelt and concede, we can imprison her in this planet and have some fun toying her."

"Now, with the death of the last Fuxi, we can all ease our hearts. Nature, bury the corpses and seal them away. That way, they wouldn't be able to do anything anymore, even after death."

The Six Paths Reincarnations faded away. While suddenly, Mother Da Zhen leaped out and shouted loudly, "There is another Fuxi here! Don't go, there is another young Fuxi here!"

The clouds darkened and a huge face was lowered down from the sky. It was the same face Zhong Yue had seen more than once.

It was none other than Patriarch Nature.

"Huh? It's this brat again!", Patriarch Nature's face was filled with surprise and he stared interestingly on Zhong Yue. He ignored Mother Da Zhen and said while smiling, It's you again, little one. I am surprised, how are you still alive after everything that happened? But well, that doesn't matter much anymore, you will die here now!"0

A huge hand fell from the sky and reached for him, but Zhong Yue was placid. He stood still and waited for the huge hand to come at him.

"Finally, I have seen through everything now…", Zhong Yue mumbled.

As soon as he finished mumbling, a burst of light rays have swallowed everything away.

"I have finally seen through the mysteries of this city,", Zhong Yue raised his head and stood unmoving, he was staring at the sky of the City of Nature.

Rays flashed across his eyes and a cold expression radiated across his face. A distance away from him, Mother Da Zhen was sent back as well. As soon as she noticed Zhong Yue just a distance away from her, she gave a shriek cry and bolted away in fear.

"Da Zhen, thanks to you.", Zhong Yue murmured, "If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be able to see through everything about this city. As a gratitude, I will let you live for a little longer, you will be able to witness as the mysteries are revealed…"
