[Bonus chapter] It'll be hard to get him out of trouble

Since the police already had information on where the little master of the Zhu family was, they wasted no time as they rushed out. The chief walked the couple out since his way was in the same direction. However, as soon as they reached the reception area, they caught a couple making a scene.1

"Please, tell us where our son is! Did you find him already?!" the woman begged, reaching for the officer in the reception to hold her hand. "Save my son, please. Tell us he is already safe!"

Heaven pressed her lips into a thin line, casting Dominic a side-eye. The latter also glanced at her before they both set their eyes on the couple. They guessed they were the other boy's parents. 

"Chief!" When the man caught the chief's figure from the corner of his eyes, he jumped and rushed to the chief. "Chief, have you found my son? Is he safe now? Any news about the kidnappers? How much do they want?"

The man spewed a series of questions, and his wife soon joined him. Their eyes sparkled with tears and desperation, hopeful they would hear good news instead. A natural reaction from a parent whose kid got kidnapped. 

"Ma'am, Sir." The chief huffed, casting the Zhu couple a quick look before setting his attention back on the other couple. "We are still in the middle of the investigation. Fret not. We're doing our best to rescue your son."

The woman covered her mouth as tears continuously ran down her eyes while her husband held her shoulders. Just then, the man noticed the couple standing beside the chief. He didn't recognize Heaven, but he would never forget Dominic Zhu's face.

"CEO Zhu..." the man's voice was muffled and shaky, making his wife shift her eyes to the other man. 

"Mr. Zhu," called the woman in slight surprise.

"Please, come with me." Before they could waste even more time, the chief spoke again to gain their attention. "I'll explain the situation to you in my office. For now, the station is busy because of this situation."

The couple pressed their lips into a thin line, nodding at the chief. With that being said, the chief faced the Zhu couple and bid them farewell before he assisted the other couple to his office. Meanwhile, Dominic and Heaven followed them with their gaze.

"We'll talk to them later," said Dominic, squeezing his wife's hand to get her attention. "We have to go."

Heaven cast him a look, holding back whatever comment she had about the couple. "Let's go."

As the two walked out of the station, Axel, Dane, and the rest of the bodyguards, including Tiger, followed. Jogging a few steps down, Dane hurriedly closed in behind the couple. 

"Sir," called Dane, throwing everything that he had witnessed at the back of his mind. "I received word from Mr. Cruel earlier in the observation room. I couldn't tell you because of what's going on."

Dominic and Heaven didn't slow down, not saying a word as they waited for the rest of Dane's report. The latter looked around warily, taking hurried steps until he was walking beside Dominic. Instead of saying anything, he raised his phone in front of Dominic. Dominic simply glanced at the screen and skimmed through the message. 

Bear Cruel sent a message just a minute after the General confirmed Sebastian's location. That was fast,Dominic thought. Although the first person who told him his son's whereabouts was fast, the General only took a minute before he reached out, and then Bear was the last. Even so, they all got the information almost at the same time through different means. 

"The problem is, Mr. Cruel raided the Red Scorpion base," Dane explained in simple terms. "I reached out to the unit he was leading, and they said Mr. Cruel went in alone. However, the thing is... they were worried."

"Seeing he was able to report back to you means he's not dead," was Dominic's only response, still not stopping in his tracks as they headed straight to the parking space. 

"Yes, but..." Dane cleared his throat as he continued, "They said his action might implicate you."

Dane didn't have to spell out for his boss what he meant by that. Hearing that Bear Cruel infiltrated a gang's base all alone and still accomplished his agenda meant violence ensued. They had no idea how terrible it was on Bear's end, but for sure, it was an unsightly sight to behold. 

"Contact the legal team and hire the best lawyers in the country," Dominic ordered decisively, casting Dane a look. "You're not thinking of abandoning Mr. Cruel for outperforming this department, are you?"

"Uh... no. I just thought you should hear about it first." Dane cleared his throat and lowered his head, slowing down in his pace until the couple was a step ahead of him. 

Meanwhile, Heaven simply cast Dane a glance before she felt someone's gaze on her. When she shifted her attention, she caught Dominic looking at her from the corner of his eyes. 

"Don't worry," he said, squeezing her hand as he gazed at the SUV waiting for him. "I won't let anyone hold Mr. Cruel accountable for trying to save our son. No matter what method he used."

"I know," she whispered, watching the driver of the SUV open the backseat door even though they were still three meters away. "I'm just thinking getting him out of trouble would be hard."

Meanwhile, somewhere near the city…

In an old establishment, Bear sat at the desk of the office. His tank top was drenched with blood from his own, but mostly from others. 

"Hah…" Bear huffed deeply, looking around the gut-wrenching office he was in. "... what a shame I can't send him and get his bounty. I still have to worry about how I have grown dull over time. Time is surely catching up with me."

Bear tossed the severed head in his back, watching it roll away from him and joining the gruesome sight of unconscious bodies and severed human body parts scattered all around the office. Blood covered almost every corner, but nothing fazed him. 

"Cakewalk County, huh?" he muttered, jumping off the desk as he stretched his neck from head to toe. He pressed the earpiece into his ear, smudging blood on it. "Give me a ride to Cakewalk County…"

Bear trailed off as he glanced at the severed head on the floor. "... you can have the bounty of the leader of the Red Scorpion."

"Man…" Moose, who was on the other end of the line, chuckled. "Your boss will have a hard time getting you out of trouble this time. This is a pure massacre. Poor guys. But anyway, thanks for the bounty. I'm already outside because I've foreseen you'd reach out again, heh."
