Something's off
"Hello there!" the man driving the motorbike lifted his visor, waving at everyone since he knew most of them except some bodyguards, Dominic Zhu, and Dane Zhang. 2
"Mr. M?" Axel gasped, staring at the man in slight dismay. "What are you doing here?"
"You know him?" Dominic arched a brow, making Axel cough.
"Hehe. We met a few times!" Moose took off his helmet, shaking his head to free his unruly long hair. "Anyway, there's a nasty accident on the highway, so help might not come immediately."
They already know that.
Dominic let out a huff, throwing his curiosity at the back of his head. This person with Bear was not important at the moment.
Bear…
Dominic narrowed his eyes at Bear, assessing the man from head to toe. Despite the dimness, he could see the blood all over Bear's body. However, Bear didn't seem to share the same concern as he marched toward them.
"I'll go in," Bear announced as he stopped a few steps, eyes straight on Dominic. "I'll take him out there."
A moment of silence befell them upon his remarks, looking at him with different looks in their eyes.
"You can't go in alone, Mr. Cruel," Dominic replied after a few seconds. "It's too dangerous… not for you, but for Basti. This is not just a simple raid. My son is inside and I can't let him get caught up in a crossfire."
And that was what made this situation complicated. Every single soul in this place knew that.
"But we can't just wait here," Bear argued, casting Heaven a quick look. "Can we?"
"We need more plan!" Dane mustered his courage, walking back to Dominic's vicinity. "I agree with Mr. Cruel. We can't just wait here, but at the same time, we need to make sure the little master is safe."
"What do you have in mind?" Bear cocked his head back, eyes on Dane.
"That…" Dane cleared his throat once again, his fist raised before his lips. "I already sent a request for a blueprint of the —"
BOING
Dane trailed off as he heard the strange ringtone from Dominic. He turned his head to his boss, only to see Dominic looking at his phone.
"I sent the copy to everyone," said Dominic, lifting his eyes to them. "Check your phone, Mr. Zhang."
"Eh?" Dane immediately checked his message log with Dominic, only to see an attached file in it. When he checked, it was the blueprint of the abandoned building.
"Sir, how did you get this…"
"I requested it on our way here," Dominic explained, not going into the details of how and who he asked this information from. "I have a plan. Come here."
Dominic walked toward their vehicle, opening his hand to his assistant. The latter perked up, running back to the other vehicle, and then came back with a tablet.
"This is the blueprint of the building…" explained Dominic as he placed the tablet on top of the trunk so everyone could see it. "Currently, there were at least thirty people inside, since this building is also their trade center for their goods."
Dominic explained everything to them, telling them all the information he received from this shady person who had been pestering him. In the end, Dominic still needed his help, and he hasn't regretted that decision since. After all, Joker had everything or could get any information more quickly than any other contact Dominic had.
"How did you know all of this?" after his explanation, Dane blurted out.
Everyone lifted their eyes to Dominic, having the same question in mind. It wouldn't be surprising if Dominic got this blueprint before Dane did. However, Dominic had more detailed information about the situation, which raised countless question marks in their heads.
"That's not the point." After a moment of silence, Fig, who was having a snack a few steps from the vehicle they gathered, spoke. His sudden interference in the conversation warranted everyone's attention. "It doesn't matter where the boss got this information. What matters is that we don't have weapons."
"We do, though." Gray lifted the hem of his suit, showing a pistol stuck in his waistband. "Though I agree that this isn't enough. We might run out of ammo."
"This is not a massacre," Bear reminded them in a stern voice. "We will sneak in to save the little master and his friend. We'll avoid crossfire as much as possible."
Tiger, who was leaning against the side of the vehicle, peaked at Bear. "And what if we got found out?"
"Ehh… that's impossible." Moose chuckled, biting his tongue when everyone looked at him.
"Who are you again?" Dane scrunched his nose up, still baffled as to why this guy was with them right now.
"I'm… well, no one." Moose shrugged. "But if you're going to ask me, it's possible to sneak in. However, the chances of getting found out and putting the kids at risk are high. Considering they were in an accident initially, they're surely injured. Who knows how many broken bones they got? Or whether they are still breathing, or barely."
Another wave of stifling silence befell them, as Moose's remarks reminded them of another crucial point. Before the abduction, there was an accident occurred.
"How did you know about the accident?" Dane's expression turned solemn. "Bear, did you leak the information to an outsider?"
"That outsider is someone I trust." Bear tipped the tablet so it would face him. "Don't worry. He's safe and he won't run his mouth."
"Yes, your secret is safe with me." Moose grinned at Dane, only to raise his brows when he caught Dominic staring. The latter, however, didn't say anything as he set his attention back to Bear.
"What are your suggestions, Mr. Cruel?" Dominic asked, wanting to hear their thoughts first before his.
"My suggestion?" Bear repeated under his breath, sliding his eyes to Heaven, who had been quiet throughout. Seeing how Bear looked at Heaven, Dominic couldn't help but follow his gaze.
Heaven had her head hung low, as she had been staring at the blueprint for a long time.
"Something is off," she whispered, lifting her head and then walking away to look at the building. She shook her head mildly, eyes narrowed.
Everyone kept their eyes on her. Some were confused, while others with intrigued.
"They know we're here… they'd been waiting."
BANG!
