Everything will be okay

Karma was like a boomerang. It returns to the person who threw it.  0

That was what Heaven immediately felt the second her eyes fell on Sebastian.

Hera's life was full of nothing but filth. Although she never hurt children intentionally, even if she had the means to do so, her other actions were covered with the sinful lives of people surrounding her. Though couldn't be seen through one's naked eyes, Hera stood atop a mountain of corpses; the life she had taken throughout her life as Hera Cruel.

Therefore, having to pay a heavy price was something she had always thought about in the past. She would take it without questions asked. After all, she had always been aware of how sinful her life was. But this... just what did Sebastian do to deserve this? Just what did Dominic do so wrong to be a subject of such cruelty and greed?

Why did people like Primo, like Hera, have to live? If all they had done was hurt others?

Tears formed in the corner of her eyes, watching her husband and son embrace each other. Watching Sebastian cry while Dominic was trying his best to maintain a strong front so his son would have courage felt like a striking stab in her heart.

"It's okay, Basti. It's okay." Dominic caught up in his breath, pulling himself away from his son to look at him. He nodded at Sebastian reassuringly, touching the latter's shoulder only for Sebastian to wince.

"Aw..."

"Sorry." Dominic lifted his hand from his son's shoulder as if it was a hot surface.

Sebastian pressed his lips as he gazed up at his father. His eyes softened, having this sense of security upon realizing his father was truly going to save him. This wasn't a dream. He would be saved.

"Riley." Sebastian instinctively turned his head to his friend. "I told you."

Riley, who was still teary-eyed, forced a smile onto his face. "Mhm! We're saved by Basti's dad!"

"Not just me." Dominic raised a hand and placed it on top of his son's head. "It's thanks to your mom."

The second Sebastian heard his father's remarks, he shifted his eyes back to the door. That instant, his eyes locked with Heaven's, a tear dripped from her eyes.

"Basti..." she called under her breath while Sebastian bit his bottom lips.

"Mommy..." tears covered his eyes once again, staring back at his mother, who came to rescue him with his father. Young as he may, Sebastian knew his mother was pregnant. However, she still came to his rescue.

How could he ever consider his mother would love him less because of another child in the picture?

"I'm sorry..." Sebastian blurted out through his tears, specifically talking to his little sibling. "... I'm sorry."

"Basti." Dominic embraced Sebastian again as his son felt more emotional upon seeing his mother. "Don't be sorry. This isn't your fault."

"But the baby..." Sebastian hiccuped, and his remarks made both parents freeze.

The baby.

Dominic clenched his teeth as his body shivered at the thought. His family... he put his entire family in danger. That would always be an unchanging fact. And he regretted this more than he could ever explain.

"Basti," Heaven mustered every bit of courage and advanced in her son's direction, squatting beside Dominic. She waited for Sebastian to look back at her, forcing a smile as soon as she locked eyes with his. "The baby is fine, sweetheart."

Heaven raised a hand, cupping his face while brushing his cheek with her thumb. "The baby is holding on and is cheering for us. So... so don't cry. Everything will be okay, hmm?"

"Mommy..."

"It's okay." She nodded reassuringly before casting Dominic a look. "Right?"

Dominic pressed his lips into a thin line before he nodded. "Of course."

"Uhh... sis?" Axel looked back at the door, hearing loud footsteps approaching. "I think we have to go."

"Hmm." Heaven nodded once again, casting Dominic and then Sebastian a look. "Are you hurt anywhere, Basti?"

"Hmm. My shoulder hurts so much and my feet... I think I broke my foot. It's swollen." Sebastian gazed down, and his parents as well.

"Let me carry you." Dominic adjusted forward. "Axel, take Riley with you. They're injured and hurt."

"Uh, yes!" Axel hurriedly marched toward them, squatting down beside Riley. "Tell me if you're hurt anywhere. I'll do my best to be careful."

Riley pursed his lips and nodded, raising his arms weakly as Axel sprawled his arms with them. Both children winced in pain when Axel and Dominic carried each of them.

"Ah!" Sebastian squealed at the striking pain in his side, making Dominic freeze. "Daddy, it hurts..."

Sebastian's voice faded as he turned limp, falling on his father's chest. Surprised, Dominic slowly raised his eyes to his wife, who appeared behind Sebastian.

"What did you do?" he blurted out under his breath.

"It's better if he stays unconscious on our way back," was the only thing she said, marching to Axel and without further ado, pressing the spot between Riley's nape and shoulder. Just like Sebastian, Riley instantly fell unconscious.

"Don't worry." Heaven faced Axel and Dominic. "I just made them rest. It's safe and so... they can't see how we got in here."

Both Axel and Dominic stared at Heaven, speechless. But alas, at the back of their heads, they knew what she meant. The path where they came from was full of dead bodies and blood. There were even pieces of flesh just right outside the door. These children had been through a lot. A lot.

"Okay." Dominic nodded in agreement, holding his son securely in his arms. Meanwhile, Axel also adjusted Riley with carefulness not to stress the kid's injuries. They might be unconscious, but their injuries were still there.

"Let's go," she remarked under her breath upon seeing them ready. "I'll lead the way and stay close."

With that being said, the three of them walked away from the cramped room whose walls witnessed the children's fears and how they clung to hope that none of them could imagine — that neither of them wanted to imagine.
