[Bonus chapter] Is that a kink?
"Who said you're allowed to fall in love with somebody else? Did Axel's habit rub off on you? Heaven Liu… isn't the woman I love. She is my wife in papers, but the woman I want to marry is you, Hera."0
Heaven cried continuously and barely heard his remarks. However, she clutched his back when he embraced her to comfort her.
"You jerk..." she continued through her cries, pounding her fist on his back weakly. "How can you be so reckless with your words? You know how this affects my baby. If you hate me so much, then just shut up. Wait until the baby gets born, so she doesn't have to feel the pain I am going through."
Dominic sighed, taking her weak punches while keeping her in his embrace. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I'm just trying to express my feelings to Heaven Liu."
"Even so, you didn't have to be so cruel..." Heaven hiccuped as she trailed off, drawing her head back as she looked at him with brows raised. "What?"
"I said I wanted to part ways with Heaven," he repeated under his breath, holding her gaze squarely. "I will forever regret that I failed to protect her. However, I can't undo the past and I had to learn the hard way. I wanted to correct everything, from start to present. And to do that, I wanted to end things with her and free the both of us from the shackles we locked ourselves with."
Heaven hiccuped once again, wiping her tears that were clouding her vision. When her sight cleared up, all she saw was the affection and regret in his eyes. He didn't look angry, just as she expected.
[Let's part ways, Heaven Liu.]
Suddenly, his first remarks crossed her mind. This time, however, it didn't give her the same message as she initially received.
Heaven Liu.
Dominic already knew her name, but he stressed Heaven's name upon that request. Heaven blinked at him as her mind went blank for a moment.
"Does that mean... You are not ending things with me?" she stuttered, only to see him nod. "Then why didn't you say so?"
"You didn't want to hear me out."
"..." Her lips curved down deeply as tears formed in the corner of her eyes once again.
A subtle smile turned up on his face, cupping her cheek to wipe the tears on her cheek with his thumb. "I'm sorry. It took me a few days to get myself together."
"I will be honest and say I still haven't wrapped my head around this phenomenon," he continued, lifting his gaze to her. "It's still something I'm trying to make peace with. However, what I do know is that the woman who lied to Grandma about the divorce that day, the woman who pours her heart into every meal she feeds us, and the woman who did her best to make any place our home is the woman I fell deeply, madly, and ardently in love with."
"This face might not be the one you had and this body might not be yours, but my heart is something you definitely owned." His smile stretched as his eyes softened, nodding at her reassuringly. "I'm still grateful that I've seen your wanted poster, and I have an idea of what you look like. You're hauntingly gorgeous, Hera, and I'm certain if I saw you before, I would go crazy just to have you."
"Hu..." Heaven let out a short whimper, looking straight into his eyes which was a path to his heart. Tears clouded her vision once again, relieved and grateful to hear everything he said.
"I still don't know what to do about it," he added under his breath, pulling her back into his embrace. "I wanted to end things with Heaven, knowing I cannot let Hera be my mistress. However, I know it was much more complicated than that. So I can only verbally end things with her."
Heaven closed her eyes as she rested her cheek on his chest. "Doesn't matter."
"You think so?"
"As long as you haven't changed your mind about me, then it doesn't matter anymore if I am Heaven or Hera." She hiccuped, clasping his suit as another wave of tears sully her face. "Just be with me. I'll be honest from now on, so don't ignore me again without telling me the reason."
"Alright." He nodded, resting his cheek on top of her head. "Let's do that, my love. Let's start over again. On a clean slate."
"Mhm." She hiccuped. "I'm sorry."
His lips curled up as he casually stroked her back. "I'm sorry for the two of you as well."
Heaven and Dominic stayed in each other's embrace, as she couldn't stop herself from crying. Meanwhile, Dominic patiently rubbed her back until she calmed down. Even so, he stayed lying on the bed with her.
"Are you okay now?" he asked after a moment, gazing down as she rested her head on his chest.
"Mhm."
"You're not hurt anywhere?"
"My baby is strong," she remarked, gazing up at him. Her eyes were still swollen and her voice was still shaky from all the crying. However, this time, she could offer him a genuine smile.
"Are you okay now?" she inquired, resting her leg over his leg. "Have you been eating well?"
"Butler Fu is strict on that. So, I have to eat whether or not I like it. I won't be able to work if I don't finish every crumbs on my plate." He smiled back, making her chuckle at his confession.
Dominic poked the tip of her nose gently. "I missed you."
"You have no right to say that when you're the one who wouldn't even visit me for days."
"Who said there's a day I didn't drop by?"
"What?"
"I was angry, but that didn't mean I stopped caring." Dominic combed her hair with his fingers. "Though I timed it when you're sleeping."
Heaven frowned. "That's unfair."
"I know and I'm sorry." He leaned down, planting a quick peck on the top of her head. "It will never happen again."
"You promised!" She squeezed herself into him as she hugged him tighter. "I'm really going to get angry if you become mean again."
Dominic chuckled, drawing his head back. "Is everything you said true?"
"Uh…" she blinked. "Which one? I think I said many things."
"That deceiving me wouldn't even come close to your conscience —" His brows rose as she suddenly covered his mouth.
"Hehe. Dom, my love." Heaven chuckled nervously. "Let bygones be bygones, okay? Of course, that's just a spur of the moment. I am not that bad."
Dominic peeled her hand from his lips and arched a brow. "Not that bad? But your profile is a hundred-long page and says otherwise."
"Profile?" she furrowed her brows.
"In the Central Intelligence. The one you put in their system."
"..." For a second, Heaven couldn't deny anything as she remembered every page in that profile.
"Mr. Cruel sent that file to me so I know who I'm dealing with. Didn't you say you will be honest?"
"Hehe. Of course!" Heaven laughed awkwardly and smiled until her eyes were squinting. But deep in her heart, she was already cursing Bear. He could've asked her first, at least!
"Darling, don't focus on that file," she remarked through her nervous laugh. "Everything that says there was just part of growing up."
"But I think you are amazing."
"Of course, I am amazing! I am Hera Cruel, after all. You had no idea the look on their faces when I appeared in their main office. It's as if they saw a ghost!" Her nose instantly turned long with pride, smirking proudly. Seeing how she immediately switched gears based on his thoughts about it made him laugh.
"You're silly." Dominic pulled her closer and embraced her securely. "Be it then or now, you mesmerize me. I can finally thank the girl who saved me back then. Before, it was me, and now it was Basti. Thank you."
Her cheek turned pinkish as she hugged him back. "Yet, you still hadn't called me big sis."
"Haha. I don't make love with my sister."
"Dom!" Heaven pouted as her face turned redder, looking up at him.
"But that's true… or is that your kink?"
"Shh! The baby can hear it!"
Seeing how she still gets embarrassed by these sorts of things, he couldn't help but tease her more. For hours, the two of them just cuddled, teased each other, and talked about things they hadn't talked about before. But their hearts were relieved. All those torturous and confusing days were worth it because, in the end, they knew they had emerged from it stronger than ever.
