[Bonus chapter] You should die, Dom

Meanwhile…1

"Is that all?" Ivy's voice shook as she looked back nervously. She was still holding the phone in her ear while holding a power lever with the other.

"Yes." The man on the other end of the line kept his answer short.

"Are you sure?" she asked, looking up at the darkness of the space she was in.

The man named Joker asked her to sneak into the venue once more. To be truthfully honest, Ivy didn't want to do it at first. She briefly argued with him, telling him they should call for help instead. But alas, the person on the other end of the line just scolded her and told her he was the "help."

In the end, Ivy snuck back into the hell she had already gotten out already.

The Wei Family owned the venue. Even if Ivy Wei wasn't with them throughout the construction, she was the one managing it. After all, companies across the world often used this place for whatever event they had. Therefore, Ivy knew the changes and renovations made in the place. In other words, she knew a way to get back in without going through the main entrance.

Joker's help also gave her courage. Ivy didn't know if this way was also guarded, after all. Thus, she just had to trust the man blindly.

"Miss Wei, can you stay somewhere safe?" Joker asked lazily. Ivy could hear the slight nose of his fingers hitting the keyboard. "I don't think that place is safe — you might get fried if things go bad."

"Is there even a place to hide here? This place is surrounded!"

"Well…" Joker shrugged, but he focused on the multiple screens in front of him. "Good luck with hiding. If you die, that's on you. Bye!"

"Hey, wait—!" Ivy gasped, gazing at her phone in disbelief. After helping this man who introduced himself as one of Dominic's people, he just left her hanging.

What was she going to do now?

Ivy looked around the room she was in, only to see wires and devices that controlled the lights in the venue. She held her hand close to her chest, biting her bottom lip out of habit.

"Is it… really dangerous to stay here?" she wondered to herself, thinking this should be a perfect place to hide. Although Joker told her that those masked men guarded the main door of this room, they wouldn't know she was inside, right?

"But what if things go wrong?" she murmured, taking a deep breath as she closed her eyes. "No. I should listen to him. He was right when he said there were people on the way earlier."

Ivy nodded in determination. However, fear still crept into her heart. Earlier, she was able to avoid the armed men with Joker's help. But now, the man hung up on her. Therefore, all she got was herself. She could just take the path she had taken earlier, right? If she was able to avoid the places that had no guards, the possibility of that path was still left unguarded.

With that thought in mind, Ivy carefully made her way back to the path she had taken previously to sneak inside the venue.

[Minutes earlier]

"Boss, don't forget the discount you promised on the stock prices. Right. He can't probably hear me, but well, tell him that, my colleague. Thanks!"

Silas dropped his hand from his ear, eyes still on Dominic. He had seen Moose's marksmanship in the Hunter's Zone, a target shooting club. That was the place where he first met the man, and also that was the day Silas found out Moose was teaching Dominic how to hone his marksmanship.

His grip on his phone tightened until his knuckles turned white.

"Hah…" Silas let out another short scoff, realizing the guests who were supposed to die tonight were still alive. "That damn Mr. M."

"Mr. M and I had a deal, Silas. My offer to him was quite tempting. Even you will forget your grudge against me if I make the same offer."

"Dominic Zhu." Silas's eyes blazed in fury, speaking through his gritted teeth as he ground them. "Do you think this is enough for you to save yourself? Hahaha! Don't make me laugh. You might've been able to save Axel and those rotten people, but you will still die."

Silas swiftly placed his hand inside his suit and immediately took out a small pistol. He aimed it straight at Dominic, sneering wickedly at him.

"This is not over yet, Dom." He shook his head, barely blinking as the veins in his sclera protruded. "I don't care if everyone else lives… as long as you die, I'm fine with it."

Dominic tilted his head to the side, brows knitted. "I'm confused. Shouldn't you be angry at Grandma and not me? I think you're pointing that gun in the wrong direction."

"Hah!" Grandma Zhu huffed, casting her eldest grandson a look of dismay. First, Axel was suggesting Silas should've just plotted Grandma's death and now Dominic was telling Silas to aim the latter's gun at her instead.

Although she would understand Silas's wrath, hearing it from his grandsons left an unpleasant taste in her mouth. She could also understand if this came from Axel, but from Dominic? Surely, Dominic changed drastically, and it only showed tonight.

"I'm amused you still have time for jokes, Dom," Silas snickered. "But I can't argue with you. You're right. I should be aiming at this old hag, but she will die anyway. She's old and will kick the bucket soon. It's better to watch her while she laments on the death of her beloved family and watch how her treasured reputation goes down the drain."

"But you!" he continued, moving his pistol for a moment. "You should die just because this Zhu family won't fall if you're alive. I told you, Dom. I admired you from then on and even at this second. That is why I know that even if things didn't go my way and you survive, you'll be able to regain the lost glory of this sinful family."

Silas paused for a moment, sliding his finger inside the trigger. "You should die, Dom."

The second those words rolled out of Silas's tongue, the lights went out.
