That's our partnership!
"DOMINIC ZHU! You're going to die tonight, I swear! HAHAHA!"1
Silas's voice echoed along with the continuous rounds of bullets lighting up the event hall. His wicked laughter harmonized with the loud grunts and thud along with the other noises. Smokes from the guns polluted the air, mixing along with the scent of blood and death.
"You know you don't have to protect me." Wolf turned his head to the man standing beside him, hiding behind the pillar with him. "I'm almost at the point of feeling insulted, Mr. Zhu."
Dominic huffed as he cast the old foreigner a quick look. "I still need to make sure you're okay, chief. I apologize if my gestures came across the wrong way."
"Hah." Wolf let out a shallow breath, gazing to the side where he caught a dead person lying lifelessly on the floor. "You should make sure your grandma is fine. I don't need another hero tonight, Mr. Zhu."
"My grandma will be fine."
"Are you sure?" Wolf peeked over the pillar they were hiding before he immediately hid as a lost bullet hit the pillar hiding them. However, that second he peeked at the event hall was enough for him to catch a glimpse of Butler Fu and Bear.
"From how I see it, Alexander just got away with her. That Butler and Bernard aren't coming after them," he remarked, setting his eyes back to Dominic. "I don't think she will be fine."
The corner of Dominic's mouth curled up a bit, nodding at the old foreigner reassuringly. "You, of all people, should know Mr. Cruel can catch up."
The two of them looked at each other in silence. Although they could barely see each other with the flashing lights that allowed them to use their sense of sight, their eyes somehow adjusted to the darkness.
"Stop calling him Mister Cruel, Mr. Zhu." Wolf let out another huff before taking another deep breath, peeking over the pillar to see the situation. "He doesn't deserve to be called by that name. Shame on him."
The second those words rolled out of his tongue, Wolf jumped out of the pillar. He rolled to the ground until he reached the lifeless body nearby. Without wasting a breath, he picked up the rifle that was still clinging across the dead person's body. On his knees, he lifted the weapon up and then started shooting their enemies.
"Oh, Dominic~! HAHAHA!"
Dominic snapped his eyes away from the old foreigner, who was swift enough to step onto the battlefield without a second hesitation. He peeked from the pillar, hearing Silas's wicked laughter somewhere.
"Where are you? Haha!!"
Dominic searched the area, hiding from time to time as some bullets would land on the pillar he was hiding in. However, that wasn't enough to stop him from cocking the pistol in his hand. He peeked once more, and this time, he easily caught Silas in the middle of the stage, shooting fire at everyone.
"He really lost it this time," he breathed out, seeing Silas stop and jog to the short stairs of the stage. Silas was dragging a body close to him, making sure he was protected. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised."
According to his wife, Hera, there were wicked and selfish people out there who would even sacrifice their own people for their own good. Silas fell into that category. After all, the man he was dragging with him was one of the masked men.
How did Dominic know?
He could see the mask's strings tied around the dead body's neck, making the mask dangle around his upper chest. Dominic's eyes flickered menacingly, feeling no sense of pity for the dead man or for Silas. All he could feel was nothing but dismay.
"Silas!" Dominic shouted, stepping out of the pillar with his pistol raised.
BANG BANG BANG!
Silas instinctively ducked a little, still holding the dead body in front of him for any incoming bullet in his way. He didn't need to see who was the person called him as he immediately recognized Dominic's voice. He would never mistake that voice.
The shooting continued while Silas slipped his rifle in between the dead body's torso and arm. He randomly fired another round of bullets, not caring who would get shot in the process. As long as he could shoot Dominic, he wouldn't mind.
"Argh!" After a moment, Silas clenched his teeth as he felt a striking pain in his leg. Gazing down, he ground his teeth. Someone grazed him. It was just a graze, leaving a light cut on his trousers and through the side of his leg.
"Dominic Zhu!" he yelled once more, firing shots until the rifle in his hand was empty. "Huh?"
Silas pulled the trigger a couple more times, but much to his dismay, the rifle was empty. "Shit!" he tossed the weapon away, looking around to see if there was more nearby. There wasn't.
"Fuck!"
"Silas!"
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Left no choice but to hide, Silas squatted down. He still held the lifeless body to shield himself, walking away from the stage with his knees bent.
'I can't die just yet,'he told himself, eyes burning as he caught the end of the stage. "I can't — ugh!"
Silas held the person with both hands and when he reached the end of the stage, he pushed it away. At the same time, he jumped off the stage, rolling to the ground while bullets followed his figure.
"Shit!" he cursed through his gritted teeth, having a mix of relief and panic swelling in his chest. Whoever was shooting at him missed him and Silas was able to hide right beside the stage. Still, his aching leg paralyzed him for a moment, forcing him to hide until he regained more adrenaline.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The sound of metal hitting another metal rang in Silas's ear. Fortunately, from this position, it was hard to shoot him.
"I can't — where is that damn guy?" Silas kept his head down, flinching at the bullets hitting the stairs not far away from where he was hiding. When the firing stopped, Silas peeked his head over to look around.
Primo was no longer in this place. What Silas saw was Butler Fu and Bear making their way to the other exit door cautiously. The two old men were also fighting their way out, and for some reason, Silas immediately concluded they were coming after Grandma Zhu.
'That coward!' he mentally hissed, knowing Primo left him on his own to save himself. 'If I'm going down, you also need to go down. That's our partnership!'
