Only one of us will get to see the light of day tomorrow.
'That coward!' Silas mentally hissed, knowing Primo left him on his own to save himself. 'If I'm going down, you also need to go down. That's our partnership!'2
Silas's eyes blazed until they looked red. He looked around in his surroundings and then caught a person hiding behind a pillar nearby. The man was one of Primo's people — one of the masked men. The man was still alive, shooting someone, but seemingly missed his target.
"Hey!" Silas called, but the person didn't seem to hear him. "This bastard —"
He ground his teeth angrily, taking a deep breath as he peeked his head once more. Using this moment of pause, he jumped from his position and ran toward the nearby pillar.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
As Silas sprinted toward the nearby pillar, sparks followed him as someone was shooting at him. Thanks to his regular exercise and mix of adrenaline, the bullets didn't hit him until he reached his destination. The shooting continued, hitting the pillar where he hid.
"Boss!" the man hiding behind the pillar looked at Silas with wide eyes. However, he couldn't say anything as both of them squeezed together to hide behind the pillar. When the firing stopped, the man looked at Silas once more.
"Are you alright?" asked the man. "We should retreat, Boss. Those guys are monsters and after that explosion, I've caught little spiders crawling inside this event hall."
"I know!"
"Then, let's go! I'll tell them to retreat." The man took a step, but a hand suddenly grabbed his arm to pull him back. "Boss, what are you —"
"I know I should retreat. You stay and distract them." Silas breathed out and the very second he ended his sentence, he suddenly grabbed the man's rifle and shot him underneath his chin.
BANG!
The shot didn't make a difference, as all different sorts of sound polluted the air. Even when the man fell to the ground with a thud, Silas didn't hesitate to drag him closer to him.
"We can't retreat all at once. You guys need to stay and buy me some time," he muttered as he quickly took off the strap around the man's body. Once he held the rifle and looted all the spare magazines and ammo, Silas got up and hid behind the pillar.
He didn't care about the person who was willing to stay with him and accompany him to get out of this place. All he had in mind was that he needed to get out of there alive. He was already shot. Even though it was only a graze, that small cut was enough to put him at a disadvantage.
Moreover, Primo already fled. If Primo got out of this place, then the rest of his people would also leave. If that happened, Silas would be on his own and once he was all alone, Dominic's men would most likely seize him. Silas couldn't allow that. If Primo would flee, then Silas had to go as well.
BANG BANG BANG!
Silas hid behind the pillar, flinching involuntarily as he could feel the impact of bullets hitting the concrete. Yet, he held the rifle close to his body, calming his breath while the firing continued. He waited. Whoever shooting him would surely need to pause and reload.
BANG BANG BANG —
When a few seconds passed and the firing stopped, Silas yelled 'NOW!' in his head. He didn't waste a breath as he grabbed the lifeless body's collar near his feet. Dragging it with him, Silas opened fire randomly. He caught Dominic on his way out of the venue hall, aiming at the man until Dominic had no option but to hide.
'Dominic Zhu!'Silas ground his teeth, emptying his weapon until he reached the other exit of the event hall. 'I'll get you next time!'
BANG!
Silas ducked for a moment, following his instinct as another bullet aimed at him. He picked up his pace, using another dead body to shield himself all the while firing back to everyone. When he reached the exit, Silas tossed the body in front of him while he jumped away, his back hitting the door, and losing his balance as he landed on his bottom.
BANG BANG BANG!
Bullets still went through the door where Silas went through, making the man take cover and curl up on the floor. The fire continued, almost hitting Silas by an inch. When it stooped, Silas looked at the door, only to see the holes in it.
"Damn it!" he cursed through his gritted teeth before he picked himself up to run away. "Damn you Dominic, damn you old hag! Damn that Silas. You will all go to hell!"
His knees felt a little weak as if his adrenaline started to dwindle. But the anger swelling in his chest almost made his heart burst into countless pieces. Therefore, Silas forced his heavy feet to run and ignored his shaking knees to save himself.

Meanwhile…
Dominic let out a short huff as he caught Silas jumping through the door. He fired at the door until he emptied the pistol in his hand.
"Did I get him?" he muttered to himself, seeing the door sway to and fro. As he stared at it, he caught Silas's shadow getting up and, without wasting a breath, ran away.
"No," he whispered, dropping the empty magazine as he took large steps toward the door where Silas went. He wouldn't let Silas get away tonight. Not now, not in a million years.
As Dominic made his way toward the door as if he wasn't in the middle of the shootout, some bullets flew in his direction. Yet Dominic didn't show any sign of stopping or hiding. He knew his wife's people would watch his back, and wouldn't let him fall.
Dominic was right.
Even though some of their enemies caught him and tried to shoot him, the bullets were either repelled by Tiger or shot down by Bear. His bodyguards, who were left to fight with them, also fought fearlessly with their captain leading them.
"Silas Zhu…" Dominic breathed out as he marched steadily toward the door, walking over some dead bodies lying on the ground. "Only one of us will get to see the light of day tomorrow."
"TAKE COVER!"
Dominic heard Tiger's loud voice in the background, but then it was immediately followed by a loud explosion. He didn't look back to see who got hurt with that second explosion as he pushed the door open, marching through the same hallway, and following the blood trails on the floor.
