[Bonus chapter] I can't keep failing them, Felice.

Primo leisurely wheeled Grandma Zhu inside the elevator. He then immediately closed it, not taking the risk of waiting for more people to catch up.0

"Man…" As the door closed, he couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. "It's been a while since I felt this nervousness."

Grandma Zhu looked back to confirm if this guy was telling the truth. From the looks of it, Primo was being genuine.

"Old Madam Zhu, you know this will not be a problem if you just tell me what you know." Primo gazed down at her, thinking persuading the old woman while they waited to reach their destination would be productive. "Didn't you say you want your great-grandchildren to be safe? I'll make sure of that if you just tell me."

"Hah." Grandma Zhu snorted. "Did you forget that you said you didn't take part in this planning? If you want to deceive me, you should've done so in the beginning."

"Aww. But I'm an honest man!" Primo let out another sigh. "It's really hard to lie, you know?"

He smacked his lips and glanced at the numbers above the elevator. "Old Madam Zhu, can you please at least tell me why you don't want to open that damn mouth? I mean, if you do, I'll disappear from your life forever!"

Old Madam Zhu didn't react. She simply kept her eyes on the door, reflecting Primo's distorted image of standing behind her wheelchair.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she repeated, but this time, her tone was low. "Just drop it. If only I know, then why would I not say it? After all, I want you to disappear from our family's lives. And therefore, I will definitely say it! But then again, how can I when I am just as clueless as you?"

Primo kept his eyes down on her, frowning. "At this point, I really want to believe you, Old Madam Zhu. I am this close!" he raised his hand, pinching the air to show her how close he was to believing her denial.

"However, did you really believe I will come to you carrying all these questions without enough grounds?" Primo bent over until his face was right next to her, eyes on their distorted reflection on the shut door. "Old Madam Zhu, you're quite interesting, you know? You claim to love your family, but then again, you would rather shut your mouth and watch them all die in my hands just to protect another family."

"I mean… the Cruel Family already fell." He tilted his head to the side, eyes on the old woman's side profile. "Why protect an already fallen family and risk your own? My questions are simple, aren't they? All you need to tell me is what you know about the Cruel Family. That's it. It doesn't matter how big or small this information was. All I need is a bit of an idea about them."

Grandma Zhu didn't answer immediately. Her expression was hard and emotionless. She slowly turned her head to him, holding his gaze sternly.

"Like I said, I don't know this family you keep talking about," she stressed, raising her brows as she made her point clear. "Even if you hold a gun on my temple, I can't give you the answers you're looking for, because I don't know."

Another moment of silence befell their shoulders as they stared at each other. After another second, Primo let out a shallow breath.

"Well, I guess your family will never attain the peace they deserve." He shrugged, straightening his back as he snapped his eyes at the numbers above the door. "Old Madam Zhu, I'm not perfect and I can be stupid at times. For instance, I realized I'm too foolish to put some confidence in your twisted grandson and thought he learned a thing or two from me. However, one of my strengths is that I learn from my mistakes and others."

Primo smacked his lips mildly as he glanced down briefly. "My point is, once I get out of here alive, no amount of planning can save your family. Dominic already played all his cards last year and tonight. I already have a brief idea of how he fights. He won't win, Old Madam Zhu."

"I'll kill him and I'll make you watch how I torture him until he begs you, just like how I'm begging you right now." All the playfulness on Primo's face had previously disappeared without a trace. This time, there was not even the slightest trace of emotion in his eyes. "This is not an empty promise, Old Madam Zhu. It's a prediction of the future — trust me."

Grandma Zhu was looking up at the man, witnessing how his demeanor changed with a snap of a finger. Surely, the playful version of Primo was simply a facade. This emotionless man was the real man behind that playful countenance.

She let out a huff, peeling her eyes from him. She kept her eyes on the shut door, holding on the end of the armrest tightly. Her lips were drawn into a thin line, and she felt this strong sense of dread creeping up her spine.

Primo's expression wasn't the only thing that changed, but also his aura. Right now, Grandma Zhu truly felt the ominous feeling everyone had been sensing since the beginning of the night. And she was certain, from the bottom of her heart, that what Primo uttered might truly happen.

'I'm sorry.' She closed her eyes as she drew a deep breath. 'I've sinned enough and failed my family many times. I can't keep failing them, Felice.'

"I don't know anything about them." When Grandma Zhu reopened her eyes, she swallowed a mouthful and spoke quietly. Even when her remarks were almost the same as the ones she kept spewing, her tone caught Primo's attention.

He gazed down at her once again, brows raised. Meanwhile, Grandma Zhu didn't speak for a few seconds as if she was contemplating.

"I lost contact with them a long time ago, but I know Felice. The foolish woman who fell in love with her target and brought a monster into this world."
