[Bonus chapter] free from this hell
"She's not, Old Madam. Hera Cruel is alive, and I just saw her somewhere."1
Primo's smile stretched from ear to ear until his eyes were squinting into mere curve lines. Meanwhile, Grandma Zhu let out a shallow breath.
"If she's alive, then I'm glad," she breathed out. "At the same time, don't."
"And why is that?" he asked.
"Because that means that child is still suffering."
Primo cocked his head to the side, repeating Grandma Zhu's remarks in his head. "That doesn't make sense. I would understand if you say you aren't relieved because that means she'll make others suffer more. But, well, who am I to judge? You ruin your grandsons's lives, so that explains your twisted mind."
"Did you get what you want now?" Grandma Zhu ignored his hurtful but truthful remarks as she delved into something more important. "I already told you everything I know, and even my darkest secret. Do I still interest you?"
"Well…" Primo hummed a long tune as he rubbed his chin mildly. When he looked down once again, he sighed and released the wheelchair. "Yeah. I don't need you anymore. I'm a man of my word, Old Madam Zhu."
Grandma Zhu looked at him suspiciously and heaved a sigh of relief. "Then I take this as a promise."
"Sure."
"You will stay out of my family's business, young man, and leave my family alone."
"Mhm." Primo hummed again as he nodded. "Though I'm having second thoughts because you've already grown in me, I'll leave you alone for the same reason. I guess Dominic Zhu is really lucky, Madam Zhu. For having a grandma who will break his heart, but also, someone who will stitch it right back up!"
A loud laughter escaped his mouth as he took a large step. His hand stretched to the buttons, pressing a button three levels below the rooftop. Grandma Zhu looked back at him as the elevator stopped before the door slowly parted.
"Old Madam Zhu, I hate saying goodbyes. After all, your late friend might've died, but maybe, once we see each other again, we can be friends, yeah?" Primo flashed her a grin as he held the wheelchair's handle once more. "Anyway, I'm not lying when I say I've grown fond of you. So, I'm really hopeful that we see each other in the future — don't die."
After saying his piece, Primo pushed Grandma Zhu out of the lift. His push had a bit of force, making Grandma Zhu hit the wall.
"Oops! Sorry, my friend!"
Grandma Zhu winced a bit, although she wasn't hurt that much. She glared back at him, only to see Primo standing alone in the lift, waving at her.
"See you around, Old Madam Zhu. I will not forget our time together. I promise you!" Primo still had his grin as the door slowly moved together. "Once my wedding is set, I will send you an invitation. I hope you come, alright!?"
Primo's mood elevated the closer the doors reached each other. He kept his eyes on Grandma Zhu until the door fully closed.
"She's really a lovely company," he muttered as his smile faded, sighing. "Now I feel a little sad and empty. Should I go back and take her with me?"
Primo cocked his head to the side before he let out a laugh, shaking his head. He waved mildly, clicking his tongue once.
"Nah. I really don't want to burden myself with Dominic and that crafty Heaven Liu…" he suddenly trailed off as he remembered Heaven. His expression immediately faded, recalling that Silas had sent that crazy woman into his quarters.
Although Primo wasn't on his way to his quarters, he wanted to make sure the people on the rooftop were fine. After all, how would he leave this place if she was already there? Primo didn't want the hassle of confronting that woman.
Without wasting a breath, Primo slid his hand inside his suit. When he fished out his phone, he sped-dialed his right-hand man, Elmo.
"I'll be very disappointed in him if he gets defeated by that woman — nah. I shouldn't overthink for now," Primo muttered as he listened to the ring. When he heard the third ring, he arched a brow and glanced at his phone. "Why is he not answering?"
"Yes, Boss?"
Before Primo could think of anything else, he heard the call being picked up. He slowly placed the phone on his ear again, brow arched, not saying a word.
"Boss?" called from the other end of the line. "Did you get out of the event hall?"
Primo didn't answer immediately, but he already recognized the voice. "Elmo, is everything ok there?"
"Yes."
"You sure?"
"Well." Elmo breathed out deeply as if he was exhausted. "Dominic had more people around the place. We had some confrontations and had some casualties."
"You lost a few men??"
"Joker sent his little spiders again."
"That motherfucker," Primo hissed at the thought of that sneaky clown. "He really won't stop, huh? Wait until I kill him myself."
"We dealt with all of them. Though we need to leave as soon as possible," Elmo remarked airily. "I'm afraid more reinforcement will come. After all, I think Dominic came prepared this time and wants to take us all down in one swoop."
"Right, right, I know." Primo arched a brow as his eyes slid to the side. "Anyway, are you hurt?"
There was a moment of silence in the line before Elmo spoke. "Yes."
"Are you going to die?"
"No. I was shot in the leg, but I'm alright."
"Okay. Prepare the chopper. I'm almost there."
With that being said, Primo ended the call. Meanwhile, Elmo, who was currently on the rooftop breathed heavily. Elmo blinked ever so slowly, seeing the same sight as he had been staring at. People were on the ground, all dead. Elmo was the only person alive and the person beside him.
Elmo slowly turned his head to his right, only to see Heaven retrieve the phone from his ear. He was on his knees while she was squatting down beside him. He wanted to take that phone away from her or struggle for one last time, but alas, his shoulders and fingers were broken. She even crushed his ankle.
How did this happened was because of that stupid Silas for sending this woman to them.
"Well, I guess I should just wait for him." Heaven smacked her lips as she peeled her gaze from the phone and set them to Elmo. "Thanks."
"Let me go," he breathed out, lips quivering. "I lied to him and soon enough, you will get your hands on him. You don't need me."
Heaven stared at him with genuine wonder in her eyes. "Primo is lucky and not at the same time. My people would rather die than throw me under the bus. But yes, a promise is a promise. I'll let you go." She smiled and then raised the pistol in his temple, pulling the trigger without a moment's hesitation, and blowing Elmo's head off.
Thud.
Heaven shut one of her eyes as blood splattered on her face. But this unfazed her as she blew the end of the pistol before saying,
"Now, you're free from this hell."
