Just what happened?
"Now, you're free from this hell."0
Heaven wiped her cheek with the back of her hand, still holding the pistol in it. Her eyes fell on Elmo, watching the blood crawl underneath his head.
"What a shame," she whispered, showing no emotions in adding another life taken under her belt. "He didn't look like he's a naturally bad person."
Another deep exhale slipped past her nostrils, eyes still on the dead Elmo. It had been a while since she wiped out an entire unit all on her own. Last year, Heaven didn't truly have the spare time to think about the dead, let alone how many people died in her hands. Not that she felt guilty for this.
"This is the life you lived and the path we all walked." Another whisper escaped her lips, stretching her hand to Elmo to close his eyes. "I'm not saying you made the wrong decision in siding with such a man, but you shouldn't have been so foolish to think someone like me would let you go."
Heaven retrieved her hand and kept her focus on Primo's right-hand man. She wouldn't commend how this man threw his boss under the bus to live. Her men wouldn't do that; that would hurt their pride. Or even if they did, they knew if she survived, their lives would be hellish than it already was.
That was how she managed to command countless capable men.
"I'm just worried that this might not end," she murmured, planting her hands on her legs as she pushed herself up. "It really brings back some old bitter memories."
Heaven looked around the rooftop. The chopper was still on the helipad, but the pilot in it was already shot dead. It was the same for everyone on the rooftop. The only living soul in there was Heaven. Everyone else was on the ground, lying in their own pool of blood.
Some of them fought back while others died even before they knew it.
"I guess there's only one I need to take down," she murmured, brushing the stray hairs falling on her forehead. As she did, some dust and blood on her hand smeared on her sweaty forehead. "I just hope my husband is alright. Well…"
Heaven paused as she glanced up to ponder. "He'll be fine. His enemy is just Silas, after all." She shrugged nonchalantly, walking away from Elmo to find a place to rest while she waited for her last target.
Heaven might not wonder how things turned out like this because she expected this to happen. However, those who died before they even knew it and those who tried fighting back only to end up dead might've had a last question in their heads.
Just what happened?

[The answer to what happened.]
"Be good. Everything will be alright, my love. So don't be sad anymore. You know I hate it when you make that face."
Heaven blinked wearily and her hand slowly fell from Silas's face. As she 'lost' consciousness, Silas stayed with her for a moment. He was still squatting down beside the couch, staring at her beautiful face.
"What a shame," he whispered, brushing her cheek with the back of his hand. "I got to admit you really are a catch, Heaven Liu. That is why it's no surprise that my cousin is head over heels for you. If you're a bit stupid, then I wouldn't mind taking his role in your life instead of sending you to that prick. But sadly, you are not that stupid and you caught the eye of someone you shouldn't."
Silas let out a shallow breath as his eyes fell on her lips. His thumb caressed the bottom of her lips before he let out a short laugh.
"Really a shame," he said as he retrieved his hand from her. His eyes, however, remained on her beautiful, sleeping face. If he would be honest, he was a little jealous of his cousin.
Dominic had it all.
Not only did Dominic graduate with flying colors, but had been consistent with being at the top of his class. He was also successful in his career, taking the Lyon Group to greater heights and becoming one of the richest men in the world. On top of that, he had such a lovely marriage as he had married a beautiful and smart woman like Heaven Liu.
Although Heaven Liu didn't have her own accumulated wealth, she was a talented celebrity. If Heaven pleased, she would be successful on her own in her chosen career. But alas, this woman chose to become a housewife and take care of her family. Not that Silas belittled her decision in life. Matter of fact, he admired it.
"You remind me of my mother," he whispered as his eyes softened, thinking of how his mother left everything for him.
From what he heard, Olivia was an exceptional businesswoman. She used to have a great career, but when she had Silas, she made a decision. Olivia stayed at home to become a full-time mother, taking care of the household, and raising her son. She was hands on, like Heaven.
"Maybe, that's why even if you annoy me so much, I can't really hate you that much," he confessed under his breath, pressing his lips into a thin line while the corners curled up. "Because at the end of the day, deep in my heart, I wish I had someone like that in my life."
If not for the situation, Silas wouldn't mind pursuing Heaven. However, she was Dominic's wife and she wouldn't mistake him for another if she was sober.
"What a real shame," he added in the same tone, looking at her for one last time before he pushed himself up. Silas turned around to leave the lounge room, looking back at her for one last time. "I guess this is farewell, Heaven Liu. Don't worry. Your children will be with you soon. You won't be lonely."
After saying his piece, Silas peeled his eyes from her and resumed his steps. He walked away without looking back at her this time. When he reached the door and stepped out, closing the door behind him, Silas turned to the guard wearing the server's uniform.
"Don't let anyone come in," he ordered. "Take her to No One's quarters once the night starts."
The guards outside bowed without a word while Silas simply glanced at them before walking away. Just as ordered, the two guards stood in front of the door with their backs facing it. Little did they know, the danger wasn't anyone outside, but the one inside the room they were guarding.
