[Bonus chapter] That's the madam's

[MEANWHILE]0

Butler Fu fought his way out of the venue. But this time, he was careful enough not to die due to his recklessness. Bear covered for him and even assisted him. When they were out of the event hall where the shootout was occurring, they immediately looked for Grandma Zhu together.

Bear wasn't tasked to look after Dominic, after all. Before they left the venue hall, Dominic had already come after Silas. Therefore, he wasn't really worried. Unless, of course, Tiger didn't follow Dominic, which Bear doubted.

"Are you sure you should be with me right now?" Butler Fu gazed ahead, eyes landing on Bear as they jogged their way through the hallway. "I believe the Young Master would need some assistance. I can follow the Madam on my own."

"He'll be fine." Bear kept his eyes ahead, squinting at them as he saw some feet at the other end of the hallway. "Someone's ahead."

Their pace slowed down as Bear kept his hand raised. When they were close to the end of the hallway, he held his gun securely. If this turned out enemies, he needed to be prepared. Much to his dismay, when he reached the end of the hallway, he realized he was right.

There were enemies in there. However, none were alive.

Bear slowed down until he stopped. Butler Fu kept a distance from him, so he furrowed his brows at what made Bear stop in his tracks. It didn't look like there were enemies. The questions in Butler Fu's head were instantly answered when he reached Bear's vantage point.

"Oh goodness," Butler Fu breathed out as he veered his eyes up to the other end, only to see bodies lying on the floor.

Despite the dim lights granting them to use their sense of sight, Butler Fu could see the gruesome sight clearly. It was as though a monster went this way, wiping out everyone even before they knew it.

"What happened here?" Butler Fu blurted out under his breath, wondering if this was also a part of Dominic's plan or if another force joined the party. "I've always wanted to be right, but right now, I wish my guess is wrong. It'll be problematic if another force joins the party and turns out another enemy. Everyone's hands are full already."

"Rejoice you're wrong this time, Butler Fu." Bear breathed out as he bent down, picking up the rifle clinging to a body on the ground. "I was worried about her, but it seems she's doing just fine."

"She?" Butler Fu gazed down at Bear, watching the man loot some weapons, and then tossed the rifle to him. Butler Fu caught it on instinct, brows still furrowed. "You mean...?"

"The young madam. Let's go. Stay behind me and cover for me if needed."

Bear didn't waste another second in idling as he turned his heel to where he was heading. He jumped over the dead bodies lying or sitting on the floor. There were a few people who crossed his mind of who was the culprit in this gruesome massacre. However, most of them were already preoccupied.

The only person who had been missing since the start of the event was Heaven.

Knowing her, it was highly possible she was the one who had done it. As they ran through the hallway, Bear couldn't help but observe the surroundings, including the dead people. From the look of it, it did seem like Hera went back to her old ways.

'I'm a little worried,'he thought as he peeled his eyes from one of the bodies whose face was brutally riddled with bullets. 'This is bad.'

Butler Fu and Bear didn't stop. They didn't see any enemies on the way. Even if they did, they were already dead. Thus, they made their way to the elevator. Before reaching the lift, Bear caught the door opening and closing as a foot was peeking out from the inside.

Their steps skidded until they stopped in front of the 'broken' lift. Standing in front of it, Bear and Butler Fu held their breaths. There were two men inside the lift, both dead. They weren't surprised, though. After seeing the situation on their way here, these people were just an added casualty.

Without a word, Bear reached for the foot that was already peeking outside the lift. He dragged the body out in one go before he stepped inside. Butler Fu followed, watching Bear press the highest floor button.

"How are you sure they were on the rooftop?" Butler Fu asked as he glanced to the side where another dead body was lying. "Also, why didn't you take out this person?"

"Waste of time and, for your first question, most people use choppers to get away. It's much safer and has a much higher chance of survival," explained Bear as he clicked another button a few levels below the rooftop.

"And why did you press that button?"

"Going straight is far too dangerous," he answered monotonously. "We don't want to end up just like that guy."

Butler Fu rocked his head in understanding as his eyes fell on the dead just right beside him. It did seem like this person died before he even knew it. He looked back at the wall of the lift, only to see multiple deep dents on it.

"I'm really growing old for this," he murmured. "Even though I used to have such a life before working for the Madam as a butler, that's been decades ago. I've forgotten how tiring it is to be in action."

Butler Fu cast Bear's side profile a look, but the man just kept his eyes on the shut door sternly. "I was trying to have a conversation before reaching our destination. I'm still curious, after all. I heard the Young Madam went to save the little master, but no one truly knew about the details aside from those people who were in it. So, now, I'm curious. Since when did the Young Madam have such a skill?"

'Since she was a child,' was the answer Bear didn't give, keeping his silence as he believed this was something he shouldn't answer himself.

Butler Fu didn't press on the matter, though. If Bear didn't answer, then that means he wouldn't, no matter what. Therefore, the two of them rode the lift in silence until it rang before its doors opened. Bear immediately stepped out of the lift while Butler Fu followed. However, just as they did, something caught their attention.

It was neither enemies nor anything of the sort. What they caught from the corner of their eyes and made them turn their heads was the empty wheelchair in front of the other lift near their vantage point.

"That wheelchair…" Butler Fu trailed off as he held his breath, eyes wide on the empty wheelchair. "That's — that's the madam's."
