[Bonus chapter] May the worst villain win

"Mommy, did I do a good job?" Sebastian perked up, making Heaven pause in tucking him in. The latter smiled helplessly, stroking his hair gently.  0

"Basti, Mommy only told you to be careful, not to play spy," she said, narrowing her eyes playfully. "Don't do something that can harm you, okay? Mommy and Daddy will do their best, so what happened will never happen again."

The little master's lips stretched into a wide smile.

"But I like it!" he said. "It's fun to watch Uncle Silas lie while I already know the truth! He doesn't pay attention to me. If only he did, then he would know I already read those books he gave me and that I put a one-star review on all of them!"

"Oh, Basti." Heaven burst out in laughter. She shook her head. Her son was surely a mischievous one.

"Uncle Axel is much better. At least, even if he gifts me toys I will never use, my friends like them. It helps me make friends."

"Basti, friends who are gained through that don't make them loyal friends." Heaven maintained a smile as her voice was laced with gentleness and sincerity. "Some people will toss you aside if you don't benefit them anyone. But you're still young, so do what makes you happy. But always remember what I said, alright?"

Sebastian grinned, nodding. He understood what his mother was saying, but didn't argue. He would rather keep his answer to himself because, for sure, it might worry her. Bribes were not his way to gain friends, but it was his way to be in an advantageous position. If he said that, then that would make Heaven think she wasn't raising her son properly.

"Now, you sleep." Heaven patted his leg, smiling. "I'll stay here until you fall asleep."

His cheek turned pinkish as he nodded. "Mommy, once Miracle is a bit bigger, can we sleep with you?"

"Of course." She nodded. "It's just that Miracle still wakes up in the middle of the night, so she might disturb your rest. But once we adjusted well, we'll do a slumber party."

"Alright!" Sebastian happily closed his eyes, excited for the day he could share a bed with his little sister. Right now, Miracle was still so tiny. Although she wasn't as tiny as the first time he saw her, she was still too small for him. He might hurt her in his sleep and for sure, Sebastian wouldn't sleep properly if he slept on the same bed with his sister.

"Sleep now," Heaven crooned as she could still see Sebastian's little movements. She couldn't help but chuckle while staring at him.

'Look at him,' she thought. 'He gets all excited at the thought of looking after his sister.'

Her eyes softened, grateful that Sebastian loved his sister instead of seeing her as his rival for attention. That was what she was scared of, after all. She didn't want Sebastian to feel left out because of the new baby. Therefore, Heaven was doing her best to give him enough time, attention, and love.

Sebastian, even if he was mature and advanced, he was still a child. He still needed love and care from his parents. That was why Dominic would also take time to take Sebastian on a date. It was also Dominic's way to let Heaven rest and only think of Miracle and herself for a moment.

"Hmm..." her hum slowly faded as she noticed Sebastian's breathing grew heavier. However, even if her hum stopped, she was still patting his leg on top of the blanket over him. "Goodnight, Basti. Mom always loves you so much."

Knock Knock

Heaven turned her head upon hearing faint knocks from outside the door. As soon as she did, the door creaked open, revealing Dominic outside.

"He just fell asleep," she hushed with a smile, bending over to plant a kiss on her son's forehead. When she drew her head back, she gazed at her son lovingly before sliding away from the bed with caution. She tiptoed on instinct, eyes fixed on Sebastian to make sure he didn't wake up.

Dominic couldn't help but chuckle, observing his wife sneak away from his son's bed from the door. He didn't bother entering, staying by the door with his side resting against the jamb. His smile stretched when Heaven tiptoed her way to the door, standing before him.

"Let's go," she whispered, tapping his chest to signal him to move away from the door. "Come on, quick."

Dominic took a slothful step back while Heaven quickly held the door. He watched his wife close it with caution, tilting his head to the side.

"Is that how assassins do things so they won't get found out?" he inquired out of plain curiosity, making her look back at him. "I thought assassins had suave moves, just like in the movies. What I've seen looks like those in cartoons."

Heaven's face turned sour, still holding the knob. "Dom, I'm trying not to wake up my son and not kill him."

"Oh. So there's a different level of stealth?"

"..." Heaven shook her head in dismay, closing the door fully without making a sound. When she straightened her back and faced him again, she clicked her tongue. "Goodness, Dom. At this point, I'm doubting everything in that head of yours is full of serious things. Cartoons? Seriously?"

"It's cute. Don't be shy."

"I'm not being shy."

He smiled, opening his palm for her to clasp it. "Let's go. Miracle is still sleeping, so it's my time now, right?"

The smile on her face didn't return, gazing at his wiggling, slender fingers. If her husband and son could split her in half, they would've done it. But then again, it didn't feel like a chore since they still respected her own time, as she had been keen on getting back in good shape.

"Goodness." Heaven sighed as she threw her hand in his grip. "Anyway, did your insufferable cousin leave?"

"Mhm." Dominic held her hand securely as they made their way toward their room. His eyes sharpened as the corner of his lips curled up, cocking his head back while his eyes fell on her. "You were right. I gave him a bit of truth to cover up a lie, and he seems excited."

Heaven smiled as she rocked her head. "Of course, he'll be."

The two of them let out a soft chuckle while shaking their heads. Silas Zhu. For them to deal with a troll, they have to be one.

Forgiveness? Unity? Don't make them laugh.

There was no longer room for forgiveness unless one of them fell into their demise. An eye for an eye, tooth for tooth. May the worst villain win.
