[Bonus chapter] The new member of the board
[HUNTER's ZONE]0
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Woo!" Silas whistled, clapping as Dominic hit the three targets straight in the bull's eyes. "Great marksmanship! As always. Exceptional in every aspect!"
The corner of Silas's lips curled up into a smirk, watching Dominic turn his head in his direction. The latter simply studied him for a second before raising a pistol at him.
"Oh." Silas instinctively raised his hands on either side of him. "Please, I'm begging you, cousin. Don't shoot me."
"Of course, I won't." Dominic spun the pistol around until he was holding the barrel. He placed the weapon on the surface where some parts and ammo were at. "There's no reason for me to shoot you."
"You speak as though you already shot someone."
Dominic arched a brow at Silas. "Who told you I hadn't?"
"You did?" Silas's brows rose. "Who?"
"Don't know the name." Dominic languidly shrugged as he disassembled the pistol. "All I know is what they've done."
"Oh... what was it like, then?"
"At first, I told myself, 'This is still a human being.' But then, the other part of me thought, we are the same species. If they can do it, what's stopping me?"
Dominic paused as he placed the pistol in his grip properly, raising it to the new targets that appeared. "If they can be animals, then I should be a beast. If I can't, then at least, be like them."
BANG BANG BANG!
Silas kept his eyes fixed on Dominic's side, propping his side against the edge of the surface. He folded his arms underneath his chest.
"You changed, huh?" Silas remarked as the thunderous gun's echo faded. "You used to be... more humane. A person who always thinks everything is under control and that everything can be dealt with according to the laws. I assume this change had something to do with that incident."
"Change is the only constant thing in this world. People's hearts are fickle. We either be good and better, be good and then turn bad, or bad turning worse. Sometimes, the other way around. The options are limited." Dominic cocked his head back and his eyes fell on his cousin.
"And where are you standing in those options?" Silas asked.
"Threading in between." Dominic shrugged once again, placing the pistol in place before facing Silas squarely. "What about you? Which route did you take?"
Both men stared at each other with one of them smirking while humming, and then the other bore a slight curiosity. Silas smacked his lips as he drew a deep breath, shrugging as he picked up the pistol on the surface near him.
"Who knows?" he said, holding the pistol in one hand. "Maybe my feet were stepping in one path and then the other one in the other — whichever the closest."
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!
"Oops. I missed it." Silas smiled back at Dominic. He only hit two bull's eyes, and then barely grazed the third target. "Dominic, I've always envied you and Axel ever since we were children, you know? You two had always known what you wanted even when we were still children, while I, on the other hand, was... clueless."
"I'm quite indecisive at times, so I can't give you a straight answer just yet. After all, the question never crossed me." His lips stretched wider, placing the pistol back in place. "You won this round, cousin. Should we take a break first? You've been practicing your marksmanship and I'm afraid you'd go mad."
Silas raised his brows playfully while Dominic rocked his head. It was true Dominic had been practicing his marksmanship and precision. Thus, a rest was necessary so as not to hurt his hand. His wife would scold him again if he came home with a cast.
With that being said, both men headed to the lounge area to rest. The second they plopped their butt down in their seats, they picked up their own bottled water to quench their thirst.
"I didn't know you could shoot well," Dominic pointed out after chugging two mouthfuls of water. "It took me quite some time to hold a pistol in one hand and hit my target."
"I had to kill time abroad."
Did he mean killing people abroad?
"That's... strange." Dominic pressed his lips and rocked his head. "I thought you were working multiple jobs on top of studying. If it were me, I don't think I'd even have the time to eat, let alone do extra-curricular activities."
Silas's smile remained, but he secretly bit his tongue. "School is easy and I'm a part-time worker. So there were days I had nothing else to do. Taking more gigs on those days to survive will drain me. So I have to find something else to do that isn't about work or school."
"Fair enough."
"It's a skill I acquired, so I still used that hobby to this day," he added with an air of nonchalance. "As a businessman, you understand, right? We have to learn sports and hobbies to have the same ground as our business affiliates."
"It's the opposite in my case." Dominic leaned back. "They learn sports and hobbies to have the common ground as I am. But yet, I understand."
"Haha. Right…" Silas chuckled heartily, yet deep down, he was hissing in mockery. Surely, his cousin liked to brag. "Anyway, I'm surprised you asked me to meet today. Don't you have any appointments?"
"I do."
"What time?"
"Thirty minutes ago." Dominic blinked as he checked his wristwatch. "This place is our meeting place, but he's late. As always."
Deep lines appeared between Silas's brows as he stared at Dominic. In other words, Dominic had a meeting thirty minutes ago. But the other party was late?
"He must be very important," Silas blurted out, watching Dominic look back at him. "I never thought there would be someone who would make Dominic Zhu wait. Now I'm curious, just how important this person was."
"You'll know once he comes…" Dominic trailed off as he caught a figure from the corner of his eyes. When he shifted his gaze to the person, he uttered, "Oh, there he is."
Curious, Silas turned his head to where Dominic was looking. The second he did, his brows knitted.
The man was simply wearing ripped and baggy jeans paired with a loose printed shirt. His long hair was tied in a tight man bun with stray hairs falling on the side of his head. He contradicted everything Silas thought about this important person who was making Dominic wait for so long. This man didn't look important at all. If anything, he looked like a rogue.
"Who is that?" Silas blurted out in curiosity, only to hear Dominic's short answer.
"Mr. M." Silas slowly turned his head to Dominic's side when the latter answered. "The new member of the board of directors of the LYON Group."
