The errand girl store is closed
"Hey, newbie!" 2
Heaven rolled her eyes, but when she turned around, her lips were already stretched from ear to ear. "Yes, boss?"
"Come here for a moment!"
"Tsk." She secretly clicked her tongue before dramatically gazing at her chair that had been calling for her. 'I'm sorry, dear.'
Since coming into this department, Heaven barely had time to breathe at the errands coming to her desk nonstop. She did various errands, such as copying, delivering, and printing. Just when she thought she finally had time to rest, her grumpy senior was now calling for her.
'What does he want now?'she wondered, stopping a step from her senior's desk. Gazing down, Heaven already had a slightly sour expression.
This man right here was the senior who scolded her and showed her to her desk. It might not look like it, but he was the head of the art department. He had this worn-out look with the dark bags under his eyes and his untrimmed beard as if he hadn't shaved for the past three days. Well, it didn't look like he even got home in the past three days. This was probably the reason for his grumpiness and for his balding head.
"What's with that look?" the head of the art department scrunched up his wrinkly face, sensing the grumpy attitude from the newcomer. "Oy, newcomer. Frowning like that won't help you or anyone in this department. You should be grateful you were able to help everyone here! If you haven't known, this is the busiest department in the company. This company relies on this department and without us, it'll be a big loss!"
"Ah. Okay." Heaven forced a meek smile, only to make the department head frown deeper.
"What's with that reaction? Aren't you proud you're now part of this team?"
Heaven glanced at his boss today, assessing the middle-aged man from head to toe. After a moment, a shallow breath slipped past her lips before her voice echoed across the entire art department.
"Of course, I am proud to be a part of this very important department, sir!" Heaven shouted straight from her diaphragm, saluting. "It is an honor to be a part of the LYON Group, but I am lucky to fall in the art department! As long as it is for the betterment of this department and company, I will do my utmost best to be an asset to this company and this team!"
The head of the art department flinched the second she shouted. His face continued to crumple at her continuation. Did she think they were in the military? Wasn't she ashamed?! Meanwhile, the other employees in the same department could only stare at Heaven with pity.
Such an innocent and pitiful soul, they thought. She reminded them of how they were on their first day. They were just as enthusiastic and optimistic just like her. But now, they wouldn't mind groveling to the deity's feet for a zombie apocalypse.
"Aish — tsk!" The head of the art department clicked his tongue in irritation, waving dismissively. "Right, right. I now know you're taking pride in this job. But no matter what, you shouldn't be too loud about it. It's embarrassing!"
"Hehe."
He studied the newbie, who was smiling mischievously, and shook his head. "It's good to have new blood in this department, and I truly hope you will last. As you can see, we lack manpower — thanks to all those selfish bastards who quit without proper explanation. Anyway, you see those papers over there?"
Heaven raised her brows as she followed the direction her current boss was pointing at. The second her eyes fell on the documents stacked on the push-cart dolly. Her face twitched, wondering what sort of errand she was going to do next.
"Those were the previous designs we had. I want you to segregate each of them from different categories and then..."
Heaven listened to her boss's instructions, feeling her head throb a little from the long instructions he was spewing.
"... and then once you're done, you can bring them to my desk..." the department head continued, slapping the surface once to get her attention. "Did you get all that?"
"Uh..."
"What do you mean, uh?"
"I mean, aye aye boss! Leave it to me!" Heaven shouted and saluted once again, making her boss almost jump from his seat. "I will finish it in no time, I promise!"
Without wasting a second, Heaven immediately rushed to the corner, where tons of papers and trash were piled up. This was the art department, and thus, she wasn't surprised there were tons of samples that they couldn't throw away as they could still be recycled or recreated.
When Heaven got the pushcart dolly and moved it to her desk, she stood beside it for a moment. Her hands were resting on her hips, humming a long tune while tilting her head from one side to the other.
'Well, I guess it's better if I do it like this.'She shrugged, throwing away all unnecessary thoughts as she started working. These papers wouldn't segregate themselves, after all.
With that thought in mind, Heaven carried a handful of papers and transferred it to her desk. She did this until half of the documents on the pushcart were left. When she sat down in her chair, only then did Heaven realize the mountain of paper on her desk. She couldn't even see her surroundings!
"Well…" she hummed, looking at the mountain of paperwork before her. "At least this hides me from more errands. Sorry. The errand girl store is closed."
A short chuckle slipped past her throat as she started working. For some reason, Heaven sort of liked what she was currently doing. To be honest, it was much more fun than being in the film set. Although she couldn't honestly say it was something she would do for a long time, she didn't dislike it. If anything, it was amusing to see the other side of the LYON Group. Behind the elegance and good PR about the company lie people like everyone in this department working themselves to the bone.
LYON Group was not perfect, but she now has a better understanding of her husband's company and how the changes in the past several months affected some departments in the company.
