Do you mean butterflies in your stomach?
Ivy was panting when she slammed the door closed. Her hands slowly balled into fists until they were trembling. Looking back at the office she came from, she ground her teeth in fury. 2
'Silas Zhu,' Even her inner voice was shaking just as hard as her heart. 'Your day will come someday.'
Her face crumpled with equal anger and disgust, gazing down at the arm Silas held. She clicked her tongue, storming away from this wretched office. Surely Silas was a lost cause. There was no way he would ever redeem himself. The man didn't even have intentions of redeeming himself.
'Dominic Zhu, just what the hell are you thinking?'
Ivy's anger piled up at the thought of Dominic accepting his insufferable cousin back in their family. It was as if Dominic forgot or simply ignored everything Ivy told him about Silas. It was insulting. But then again, she wanted to trust Dominic, as that was the only thing Dominic told her when she found out about the list of the new board of directors.
When Ivy made her way to the parking space without slowing down at her pace, she saw two people ahead. Her steps this time slowed down until she stopped, eyes on the two people around a black sedan.
"Haha!" Tiger was laughing as he came out of the driver's seat.
Dane, who was getting out of the front passenger seat, glared back at him. "Stop laughing, you human trash! This time, I'm really going to convince the master to fire you for attempting to kill his important assistant!"
"Mr. Zhang, that's slander! I didn't try to kill you!"
"You opening the side of my door while the car is moving, not an attempted murder?"
"My hand slipped!"
"How can your hand slip from the driver's seat to the front passenger seat?" Dane gasped in disbelief, looking at Tiger as he wondered why the world's one and only creator allowed this abomination to exist. "Tiger, you are the worst of the worst! Go to hell!"
Tiger laughed once again, resting his arms on the vehicle's roof. He lowered his head until his chin was resting on top of his folded arms, smirking mischievously at his partner.
"Come on, partner. Go inside your car," he said playfully. "You know I can't leave if I don't see you leave safely. You should've let me drop you off at your place like the lady you are."
Dane scrunched up his face in disgust. "Why do you want to drop me off in my place? So that you have a new place to invade?"
"Us, living together, can't be that bad, I think? I think we're close enough to sleep in each other's places! We're almost like a married couple now!"
"Yuck! Ew! Blerg!" Dane gagged at the thought while Tiger laughed out loud, having the time of his life. "Never! Tiger, please. Stop running that mouth. I know you're a man with no shame or the slightest decency. But please! Have mercy on those who have ears to hear your nonsense! Everything you say gives me goosebumps."
"Goosebumps... do you mean butterflies in your stomach?"
"Yuck!" Dane clicked his tongue in irritation, looking at Tiger in utter dismay. There was truly no point in talking to this man. Dane would only get hypertension if he kept entertaining this indecent man.
With that thought in mind, Dane looked away from Tiger and walked away from the vehicle. But as soon as he did, he stopped as he saw a familiar person standing not far away from them. When Dane moved his head a little to the side, his breath hitched the second he locked eyes with Ivy.
'Shit!' Dane immediately turned around, making Tiger raise his brows in confusion. "You said you want to drop me off? Then, let's go!"
Dane didn't waste a second as he rushed back to the front passenger seat. Deep lines appeared between Tiger's brows, confused as to why Dane dared go back to the car he was driving. When Tiger shifted his gaze to where Dane glanced before he changed his mind, his eyes fell on the gorgeous lady Tiger was more or less familiar with.
Being Dominic's head of security, Tiger familiarized himself with the people who often meet his employer. In other words, Tiger already met Ivy more than a couple of times, but he never interacted with her.
'Why did he run away when he saw her?' he wondered to himself, eyes still on Ivy. His eyes then squinted suspiciously as his face turned a little sour. 'Don't tell me?'
Just then, Ivy let out a huff as she peeled her eyes from the passenger seat where Dane went in. She only cast the other man a quick look before turning on her heel to go to her own car.
"Hey!"
Ivy stopped as she looked back at Tiger. His voice was still echoing in the quiet parking space.
"You seem to be in a terrible mood, Miss Wei." Tiger sported a 'normal' smile that was unlike his usual cocky grins. "I'm dropping off Mr. Zhang at his place. Do you want a free ride too? I think you should, though. You look like someone who plans on driving off the rails and killing yourself."
Ivy was good with faces. Thus, she had an idea who this man was. He was the man who was always behind Dominic.
"I'm not suicidal," she whispered, wondering if she failed to hide the anger on her face.
"So?" Tiger's voice brought her back from her trance. "This is a free ride! I mean, who in the world wouldn't be tempted by something free?!"
Ivy set her eyes back to Tiger and sighed quietly. She glanced at the vehicle, about to tell him she had her own car. She could get home on her own. However, the other part of her was tempted by the offer — not because it was free, though. Right now, all she needed was company.
"Fine," she breathed out, turning on her heel as she marched toward the black sedan. Before getting in, she looked over the roof to see Tiger. "Thanks."
Tiger playfully clicked his tongue and winked. "You're welcome."
Meanwhile, Dane, who was inside the car, gasped in disbelief. He glared at Tiger, who was outside the driver's seat, grinding his teeth, as he figured Tiger found another way to get on his nerves.
'I hope he chokes on his sleep!'
