[Bonus chapter]won the lottery kind of lucky
Heaven and Dane journeyed back to the office in silence. She realized she shouldn't get involved in the affair with what he said. All she could do as a friend was to be Ivy's support, but other than that, she could only stay on the sidelines. 0
When they arrived at the building, Heaven got a good scolding from Mr. Yang. She had to take all the scolding because she just suddenly disappeared from the venue, and then told her workmates she would go back first. But in the end, her workmate got to the office first before her. Therefore, Mr. Yang assumed she simply went out to do something on the side again.
Mr. Yang didn't need to punish Heaven, though. With the amount of work they already had at hand, it was already a punishment. And just like that, Heaven and everyone went by their day like usual. Ivy went to do her own thing while Dane settled matters that were within his scope of work.
Nothing seemed to change. Or maybe Heaven just couldn't see it because she wasn't Dane or Ivy, who was involved in a complicated love matter.

"Is there's something wrong?"
Heaven blinked ever so slowly, peeling her eyes from the sleeping baby to the person sitting on the edge of the bed. She was lying on her side while watching Miracle sleep soundlessly.
"Nope." Heaven smiled at Dominic. "Nothing's wrong."
"I heard you were scolded today because you disappeared from the venue," he said, revealing he was still keeping an eye on his wife despite his busy schedule. "You should've told them you rode with Mr. Zhang, and that he had to drop by somewhere else, which explains your delay."
"It's okay, dear." She chuckled, shaking her head as she looked at Miracle. She slipped her finger in between the baby's small and chubby hand, letting Miracle cling to her index. "Mr. Yang is just like that, but he's actually a good person. He scolds me because it's my fault, but he wouldn't scold me over small mistakes."
"I see..."
"I'm just thinking that Ivy and Mr. Zhang are truly a piece of work."
Dominic tilted his head to the side. "What's wrong with them?"
His question made her look back at her husband. Seeing the cluelessness plastered on Dominic's face, she couldn't help but laugh. Why was she surprised that Dominic had no idea about Ivy and Dane's affair? Her husband wasn't a nosy person to begin with.
"Gosh, Dom." Heaven shook her head once again, chuckling. "To give you some gossip, Ivy is in love with Mr. Zhang."
"Oh?"
She blinked, assessing his lack of reaction. "Yes, she is, for years. But Dane doesn't like her because, for him, the company is more important."
"I see."
"What's with that reaction?"
"It's their personal affairs and I don't think I should have a say in it," he explained and shrugged indifferently. "Ivy and Mr. Zhang were adults. They would figure things out without my help. And I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate it if I poked my nose into their personal affairs. I'm the last person they need advice on this matter, anyway."
She opened her mouth but then shut them closed again. He was right. Dominic wasn't someone to gossip. Although he would usually listen to his wife's rants and nonsense gossip attentively, he didn't let it affect him.
"You're right." Heaven let out a shallow breath. "They're already adults. They had problems and so as we. We have other important things to worry about."
"Exactly my point."
"But still it makes me sad." She smacked her lips and set her eyes back to him. "Ivy is my friend, and it makes me sad when she's sad."
"She can handle it herself," he said, offering her a reassuring smile. "If it's too much, I'm sure she'll ask for help. Until then, just do what you can."
"Mhm."
"Anyway, let me carry her to her crib." Dominic adjusted his position, sliding his hand underneath Miracle's head and chubby body. At his own discretion, he lifted her and secured her in his arms. "She's getting heavier every day."
"She's getting healthy," Heaven corrected playfully, earning a look from him. Miracle was very small when she was born, but now that she was in her third month, she drastically gained weight. Well, all the baby did was drink her milk and sleep. Even a grown-up would gain weight if that was all they did.
"Darling, have you been working out?" she asked while watching Dominic carry their giant baby to the crib near the bed. "You're carrying her as if she weighs like a pillow."
"I am doing a regular exercise in the morning," he answered without taking his attention from his daughter. Dominic paused as he laid Miracle down, tapping her squishy white leg mildly so she wouldn't wake up. When he was sure Miracle went back to sleep, he marched back to the bed to join his wife.
"But the best workout is during the night." He didn't rest on the vacant side of the bed, but crawled his way on top of her. The corner of his mouth curled up subtly, earning a playful smile back from her.
"Dom, I'm tired." She pouted, snaking her arms around his shoulder. "But today, I missed you more than usual."
His brows rose, interested to hear more about it. But Heaven just stared at him, her eyes scanning his facial structure as if etching it in her mind. Ivy must be blind. How could she say Dane was much better-looking than her husband?
"I know I always say this, but I really love you, Dom." Her eyes softened with affection, expressing this overflowing love and appreciation toward her man. "And it really feels great to be loved back by the person I deeply love. I really felt lucky today. It's like I won the lottery kind of lucky."
His smile softened. "The feeling is mutual," he said as he lowered his head, planting a soft kiss on his lips. When he drew his head back, his eyes glinted as he went for another kiss, but this time, much longer and deeper.
