4The closer the anniversary celebration of the LYON Group, the busier everyone got. Days felt long, but it was not long enough to get the job done. Even so, everyone worked hand in hand to make this celebration perfect and before everyone knew it, the day of the anniversary was only a day away. 

"Sis!" 

While running errands to another department, Heaven heard a call. But before she could do anything, she felt a hand take her arm and drag her to the corner. Turning her head, she arched a brow. 

"What?" she asked, a bit annoyed at Axel. She purposely ignored him when she caught him from the corner of her eyes, but the guy still dragged her with him. 

Axel had his eyes wide open, looking at her arm where she held some papers and folders. "Sis, so it's true?"

"True, what?"

"That you're working in the company as an errand girl!"

Heaven blinked, furrowing her brows. It had been a while since she hung out with her little brother-in-law. Axel had been busy with the company and his training on the side. He was slowly getting back to racing again, after all. Although Axel still lived in the old residence, their busy schedule and how wide the old residence was hindered them from seeing each other. 

"Axel, it's been almost a month since I started working here," she said in disbelief. "Why are you acting as if this is news?"

"Because it's news to me!"

"..." Heaven opened her mouth but then remembered she still had an errand to do. She pulled her arm from him, hugging the document securely. "Axel, can't you see I'm busy? I don't have to play with you."

"But --"

"Please." Her expression died, looking at him dead in the eye. "Mr. Yang will really put me on fire if he finds out I went around again before doing my errand."

After saying her piece, Heaven turned on her heel to do her job. Meanwhile, Axel opened and closed his mouth, but all he could do was stare at her back.

"Why is she so weird?" he asked himself. "Does she know she can just say she bumped into her superior's superior's brother? And that I asked her for directions or something?" — well, that didn't make sense to him either. There was no way Axel could get lost in this building. No matter how many times it gets renovated, he witnessed how this building changed throughout the years. 

But even so, that wasn't the point! If she used him as an excuse, then whoever Mr. Yang was, she wouldn't get scolded!

"I just wanted to have lunch with her," he muttered and frowned deeply. "I bought her favorite buns on my way here since we didn't celebrate her employment together."

Another deep exhale slipped past his lips, thinking that he had been busy and he missed his sister so much. The only people he had spent time with were Sebastian and Miracle because Heaven and Dominic only came home in the night. Axel was already sleeping by that time. 

"I guess I should just eat with Bear," he told himself, dragging his feet through the corridor. Everyone was just so busy, and the only people who weren't were the security. If Dominic was still in the building, that means Bear was also in the security office. 

"I wonder if Bear has already eaten anything?" he wondered as he reached the elevator. Standing in front of the lift while waiting for it to open, Axel hummed a melancholic tune. Bear would pity him if he looked pitiful. 

DING!

After a while, a short and loud ring resonated in his ears. Axel snapped his eyes at the number above the door out of habit, and then slowly lowered his gaze as the door parted. The sadness in his eyes, however, was instantly replaced by disgust at the sight of Silas.

"The hell?" Axel clicked his tongue, blaming his luck for bumping into this guy. 

"Good to see you as well, Axel." Silas smiled. His cast was already removed and the bruise on his face already faded, but there were still mild traces left. "Aren't you going in?"

"No, thanks!" Axel rolled his eyes. "I'll just wait for the next one."

"That's a shame then." Silas sighed, taking a step forward to close the lift. As he did so, Axel arched a brow. 

"Wait, never mind!" Axel hurriedly got in the elevator, making Silas take a few steps back to give him some room. "I'm in a hurry, so I'll just stomach the thought of spending a few minutes with you."

Axel pressed the ground floor button, facing the door as it closed. He stood in the middle as if he was the only person in the lift while Silas leaned his back in the corner. 

"How have you been, Axel?" Silas inquired after a moment of silence. "I heard you're back to training again, and that you're planning to return to the tracks in a few months."

Axel rolled his eyes, ignoring the man. He promised that he would behave himself to his parents and that he wouldn't instigate an argument with Silas. His family forgave this scum, after all. For Miracle's and Sebastian's sake, Axel wanted to have a peaceful family for his niece and nephew. And to do that, he should ignore Silas at all costs. 

"That's weird." Silas hummed, rubbing his chin while assessing Axel's back. It seemed Axel planned to ignore him, but Silas felt a little playful today. "I thought you wouldn't go back to racing after what happened."

Axel arched a brow but didn't react. Silas was probably talking about Axel's suspension a year ago. But alas, Silas's next remarks were enough to get a reaction from him.

"You really are something else, Axel. I mean, I admire your strong will in this chosen passion of yours," Silas said as the corner of his mouth curled up into a smirk, eyes glinting wickedly. "Even after getting bullied in Cakewalk County by those rogues, you still haven't given up on your dream. That's really amazing, isn't it?"
