More ambitious than before

Axel didn't have plans on spending his well-deserved break with Tiger. Tiger was the last person he expected to eat lunch with, but it somehow ended that way.  2

"I heard you got suspended for beating up that jerk." Axel gazed at the man sitting across from him in a small office. Both men were sitting on the set of couches with food on the coffee table between them. 

"Why did you do that, though?" he asked, curious. "That two-faced jerk might've smooth-talked his way to the board, but he's still a director. You could've lost your job, you know?"

Tiger paused, holding a chopstick with noodles in between them. "He assaulted a lady on my turf," he answered before slurping the noodles in one go. 

"Who?"

"Miss Wei." Tiger shrugged nonchalantly, giving a different answer than the usual answers he had given in the past. "Also, he annoys the fuck out of me. So, there's that."

"You can't just do that even if you're the captain of the security unit."

"Well, I did, so I guess I can."

Axel frowned, watching the man eat his food. He knew Tiger because the man was always with Dominic, just as often as he was with Dane in the past year. This man was also present at the time Sebastian was abducted, but Axel could say he wasn't very close to him. 

Axel was close to Bear because Bear was close to Heaven. He was also a little buddy-buddy with Fig since Fig was stationed to guard the old residence with Princess. But Tiger? Axel couldn't remember any notable interaction with him. Yet, the man was acting too comfortable with him. 

"You should be careful," he warned half-heartedly, massaging his wrist as he could still feel slight discomfort in it. "That two-faced guy is a vengeful person. He won't easily let things go, no matter what reason you have."

"Second young master, didn't you see the look on his face when he saw me?" Tiger's mouth was full, making his words sound a little gibberish. He waved once in front of his face as if his action would emphasize his point. "Just hearing my voice drains the color on his face! He should be careful, not me."

"I'm just saying!" Axel clicked his tongue as he reached for the piece of bun in the basket. "It won't hurt if you were careful, you know?"

"Aww. That's so touching." 

"I'm being serious."

"So am I." Tiger continued his meal as if he starved for days, holding the bowl in his hand and the chopstick with the other. "Even if he hires someone to kill me, it's fine. I won't die so easily."

"How can you say that with so much conviction?"

Tiger looked up and his eyes squinted as he grinned. "Because someone like him is not the person who can kill me."

"Goodness. You're so arrogant!" Axel pouted as he kept his eyes on Tiger. Although he had to admit that even though Tiger sounded arrogant, a part of him believed it. 

Tiger seemed like someone who wouldn't die without a fight, even if the Grim Reaper appeared in front of him. The guy just looked that persistent. 

"Did you really see us on the monitor?" Axel asked after taking a bite of the bun. "You're quite fast."

"I'm the captain of the security, second young master."

"I know, but even so, I think it would've taken you a while to arrive if you came from the security office."

Tiger placed his chopsticks inside the bowl and slipped his hand inside his suit. Taking his phone out, he waved it to his side to show Axel.

"This is what I mean when I said I'm the head of the security unit." He placed his phone on the coffee table between them. "I asked Gray to install the system on my phone. I was doing my rounds around the building when I saw him in the lift. When I saw you enter the elevator, I had a feeling something bad would happen, so I came straight there that moment."

"Ohh…" Axel rocked his head, impressed by this revelation. "I didn't know you could install the security system on that phone."

"Gray has a knack for these things. Though he isn't that good as some people I know."

"Some people you know?"

"My sister and her stalker." Tiger shrugged as he picked up his chopsticks again to eat. "But you're missing the point. I can't just stay in the security office all day. People call me lazy, but they're the ones who are lazy! How can they ensure the security of this building if all they do is sit all day behind the monitors?"

Doubt flickered across Axel's eyes. "You're just doing more work now because you just got out of your suspension. So you're trying to earn brownie points."

  Tiger almost choked on his food, pounding his fist against his chest. 

"See? I was right." Axel clicked his tongue, but not surprised at this guy. "You know, ever since you guys came, I couldn't help but wonder where my brother got you from. You don't look like people who take your job seriously. I only heard you got in because of Mr. Cruel's recommendation."

He paused and sighed. "But the point is, my brother's security unit is never like before."

"You mean it's not as incompetent as before?" 

"No? It's not as decent as it used to be."

"Heh." Tiger snapped his eyes up at Axel, snickering at the man. "Second young master, when talking about security, looking decent and proper isn't what's important. Anyone can look decent and professional. Just throw them a set of suits and they're good to go. But from what I know, when someone dies in their duties, they all don't look decent at all."

He pointed the chopsticks at Axel, shaking them mildly. "My job isn't to look decent but to make sure your brother comes out alive in any situation."

"Why? Is my brother in danger?"

"He… will be." Tiger shrugged, casting Axel a knowing look. "He'd become more ambitious than the first time I met him, after all. And with such ambition? I'd bet my life that he'll magnet tons of shit. Don't tell it to anyone, though. I just realized this is confidential information — my bad."

Axel furrowed his brows, curious at the deeper meaning behind Tiger's remarks. However, he couldn't find the strength to pry. It was not like Tiger would tell him more, anyway. Thus, Axel dropped it and just ate his food in peace without realizing he had eaten all the buns he bought for Heaven.
