Quite reliable
Axel had nothing else to do after his 'planned' lunch with Heaven. His initial plan of spending a day with his sister-in-law failed miserably. Thus, Axel ended up killing time tagging along with Tiger. Everyone was busy and Tiger was the only person whom Axel knew was available at the moment. 2
He went with Tiger as they made their rounds, checking each department as if they were supervisors or some sort. To be fair, this was actually one of Tiger's jobs to ensure that the building was safe from any form of danger. It's just that Bear or someone in the security unit would usually do it because Tiger was lazy. Moreover, Tiger was often with Dominic and Dominic was always out and about.
"This is crazy." Axel couldn't help but comment as they walked around the twentieth floor. "You mean you need to do this regularly?"
"Mhm. People are crazy and scary." Tiger sniffed as he glossed over the hallway before stopping in front of an office. He opened the door and glanced around before closing it to continue his duty. "Who knows what they bring into this building?"
"Don't everyone get through the security check at the entrance?"
"Second young master, in this building alone, there's already a thousand people who come in and out of here. Even if there's a security check, small things can be easily overlooked," Tiger explained languidly, checking another room and scanning it for a second. "Though the security in here is already tight and no one can get in without a pass, double-checks won't hurt."
Axel glanced at the man's side profile with doubt. "I don't believe that you do this every day."
"I don't. I'm not competing for the title of being an employee of the month." The two of them walked in the long corridor, heading to the elevator since they mostly checked the floor. "I told you. I need to earn some good points which I can drain once someone fucks around in my turf."
"This is an office, not some sort of gang town."
"Sounds the same thing to me."
At this point, Axel didn't want to argue with him anymore. After talking to this man for hours, he realized he would never win against Tiger in an argument. The man was clever enough to twist people's words and turn the tables with his nonsense.
Just when Axel thought he was already nonsense at times, there was someone else who was worse than him.
"Why are you following me, by the way?" Standing in front of the lift, Tiger furrowed his brows as he turned his head to the second young master. "Are you still scared of Director Zhu?"
"That jerk will need to eat tons of sacks of rice before he can intimidate me!"
"Ah." Tiger rocked his head in understanding. "So, you're bored, huh?"
"What?"
"Well, that's fine. So long as you don't disturb me, you're good." Tiger waved dismissively, setting his eyes back on the lift. "I don't mind having company, anyway. Or I might end up doing something else."
Axel had his lips curved down, studying Tiger's side profile. "Are you forgetting I am your boss's brother? I'm not your colleague."
"So?"
"So, you shouldn't be too comfortable with me."
Tiger looked back at him with a bit of dismay. Was Axel joking? He must be, right? Before Tiger could say anything, the sound from the elevator resonated in their ears. Looking back at the opening doors, their brows rose as they saw Heaven standing inside.
She was standing near the corner with a dolly trolley cart in the middle. When their eyes fell on the cart, all they saw were boxes of papers on it.
"Wait for the next one," she said, taking a step forward to close the door. "We three can't fit in, and I'm in a hurry."
"..."
Axel and Tiger looked at her, speechless. They kept their eyes fixed on her until the door fully closed.
"Man… she's working hard, isn't she?" Tiger recovered from his slight shock and looked back at Axel. "How many times did we bump into her since doing our rounds?"
"I don't know?" Axel's face twitched a little as he gazed at the shut door. "Maybe three?"
"She makes this building look small since she's everywhere." Tiger laughed at the thought of the young madam running errands. In no time, he was certain many people would be familiar with her since she was always everywhere.
Does she even sit down?
"I don't know what's going on with her mind." Axel let out a deep exhale and shook his head. "She can always have a good position if she asked my brother, but she chose to be an errand girl."
"She's weird."
Axel glared at him. "That's still my sister. I can say anything to her, but I won't let others insult her."
"I'm not insulting her, I'm describing her."
"It's offensive."
"Well, sorry." Tiger raised his hands up a little as a gesture of surrender. "But if you can tell her anything, then why not start with what Director Zhu did to you?"
"Huh?"
"You said Director Zhu provoked you by mentioning what I assume is a sensitive topic. And even blackmailed you," Tiger pointed out in a knowing tone. "I think if you tell her about it, she'd be able to deal with him."
Axel pressed his lips into a thin line. Right. He did mention that to Tiger because of the overwhelming anger he felt a few hours ago.
"Don't tell me it's something you can't tell even to the person you trust the most?"
"That's not it." Axel frowned, casting his eyes down. "But if I tell her about it, then the peace she wants for her children might be disrupted. I'm already old, you know? I should deal with this as a man."
Tiger studied the second young master and let out a sigh. He looked away and gazed at the door, glancing up to check if the next lift was closed.
"Well, I already promised you that I'd make you punch him at least once," he remarked offhandedly. "So I guess I shouldn't make a fuss about it."
DING!
Tiger wasted no second in getting in the lift while Axel stood motionless in the same spot. He kept his eyes on Tiger's back, brows raised.
'Somehow…' Axel thought as he felt this sense of reassurance in his heart. 'I feel that he's quite reliable and that my brother is in good hands.'
"What are you waiting for? We still need to check a few floors?"
"Alright." Axel smiled as he joined Tiger inside the lift. Tiger arched a brow, wondering what this second young master was smiling about.
