[Bonus chapter]That's an IF
"Not him again."2
"What do you mean, not me again?!" Axel roared at the bald man, who left such an untasteful yet vague comment. He knew this guy. Even if the man shaved off his ugly mohawk, Axel would never mistake him.
"Didn't my sister warn you guys?!" he harrumphed. "Hadn't you learned your lesson the last time?! Once my sister comes here, she'll make sure you guys won't just end up in the hospital!"
Axel's voice echoed as he continuously raged at the three men who had arrived in this place. He released his dismay that he suppressed the entire day in one go until he was panting. The men, on the other hand, simply watched and listened to him.
"What?! Why aren't you talking, huh?" Axel huffed, breathing heavily while his chest moved in and out deeply. "Back then, my sister held back because of me. But she'll kill you all if you touch me again!!"
The bald guy who used to have an orange mohawk like a troll simply clicked his tongue. He didn't talk back to Axel, snapping his eyes in a direction. When he did, he caught a few more shadows coming in. His face instantly turned grim.
"I'm telling you —" Axel almost bit his tongue as he abruptly stopped, shifting his fiery eyes in a particular direction. The fire in his eyes blazed even more, grinding his teeth at the sight of Silas. "This copycat… how dare he show up here with my brother's face?"
Even though Axel knew the differences between Dominic and Silas, he couldn't deny his cousin was like Dominic's twin brother. They resembled each other so much that they could impersonate each other and people wouldn't even notice!
"Axel Zhu." Silas stopped a few steps from where Axel was tied up, looking at the latter from up and down. "You shouldn't be so nosy. Look what happened!"
"My brother will kill you!" Axel roared. "Silas Zhu, you really had done it this time! Do you think my brother — Mom and Dad, and even Grandma will forgive you this time?! Once they hear that you are doing what your father had done to our family, they will not only throw you abroad! Grandma will kill you herself!"
Silas maintained his short smile, unfazed by Axel's usual aggression. "That's an IF, Axel."
Axel's breath hitched at the off-putting remark that flew out of Silas's sinful mouth.
"Of course, they won't forgive me if they found out I kept you captive here," Silas continued offhandedly, smiling, which sent a sense of dread down Axel's spine. "Especially that big brother of yours. He'll probably kill me himself and will do everything in his power to push me off to my demise. That is why… you can't come out of here, Axel."
"So, you'll really kill me?!" Axel breathed out a jagged breath, keeping his heart still from the fear that was creeping into his heart. "Silas Zhu! Are you really out of your mind!? Mom, Dad, Grandma, and even my sister chose to forgive you! They chose to forget what you had done in the past and welcomed you back into the family with open arms! You had done so many things that put my brother in a tight spot, but even so, he believed in you. He even let you have a share in the company, which gave you a spot on the board!"
He was already panting with all the overflowing emotions swirling in his chest. His anger caused a thin layer of tears to coat his pair of fiery eyes.
"Just how ungrateful are you, Silas Zhu?!" this time, Axel's voice volume down as he felt a little emotional. Not because he was hurt by Silas's action. Silas was already a big disappointment, after all.
What made Axel emotional was he felt sorry for his family. His family chose to forgive and believed in someone like Silas. They were hopeful that Silas had matured and that he now understood the value of family. They had done so because they wanted peace for the new generation, so Sebastian and Miracle wouldn't carry the burden of this unresolved family issue in the future.
Axel felt sorry that no matter how his family tried, this man only took everything for granted. This situation might anger Dominic and Grandma. But Lionel and Ria? Those two would be hurt and devastated if they found out Silas had harmed Axel.
"Just… why are you like this?!" His voice thundered once again, but it had a tinge of sadness and helplessness. "Just what did our family do for you to hate us like this?!"
Silas let Axel vent his frustration. Even when the latter's tone changed, he didn't have a change in his expression. He simply gazed down at Axel in silence.
"What did the Zhu family have done to me?" he repeated after a moment while the side of his lips twitched. "Nothing. Your family had been nothing good to me."
"Then why are you —"
"Their only sin is that I am Leon Zhu's son," Silas continued, stopping Axel mid-sentence.
Huh?
Axel's pupils dilated as his pale lips parted. All he could do for a moment was stare at Silas with wide eyes. What did Silas mean by that? What nonsense was he talking about now?
"Axel, they shouldn't have let that disappointment have a child, you know? They should've stopped him. If only they did, then I wouldn't have such an incompetent man as a father!" Silas exclaimed, rendering Axel speechless with his nonsense. "Just imagine having to carry the fact that Leon Zhu is my father! He's so incompetent and a total idiot! It disgusts me to even call him father and how you and everyone else always compare me to him! It's upsetting, knowing I am better than him. His name shouldn't even be put in the same sentence as mine."
"What are you… what nonsense is this?"
Silas frowned deeply. "I'm saying I'll prove to everyone Leon Zhu is nothing. Everyone always saw me as his shadow, but I'll prove to everyone that shadow is bigger and more fearsome than what you all can fathom."
