[Bonus chapter] That's what you get
"I'm saying I'll prove to everyone Leon Zhu is nothing. Everyone always saw me as his shadow, but I'll prove to everyone that shadow is bigger and more fearsome than what you all can fathom."0
Axel could only stare at Silas after hearing all that nonsense. Silas's voice echoed and silence filled in once the echoes faded into nothingness.
"I…" Axel tried to talk, but the rest of his words rolled back into his throat. He couldn't believe what he just heard. He was trying to understand the root of Silas's action, but he didn't expect it would be such nonsense and irrational as this.
Was he truly sick in the head? No sob story? No explanation that could be considered a fragile attempt to justify his action to tear the listener apart? What sort of villain story was this? It was laughable!
"There's your answer, Axel." Silas shrugged after a brief moment of silence. "Are you satisfied now?"
Satisfied?
"Hah!" Axel let out a short, ridiculing laugh, shaking his head mildly. "What a mindset, Silas Zhu. No. Silas. You don't deserve to carry the family name. You're not family."
Silas frowned a little but didn't mind it. "I never felt I was one, anyway."
"Ungrateful jerk." Axel hissed.
What did he mean he never felt one? Lionel and Ria were even more considerate to him than to Dominic and Axel! His parents were always worried that Silas would feel lonely and think he had no one on his side. Therefore, even when Silas would do all the craziest things, those two would forgive him so easily.
Even when Grandma stepped in to discipline Silas, Lionel and Ria helped him behind Grandma's back. They held onto him, showering him with parental love in their hopes their love would change him. Yet Silas seemed to not have considered how devastating that sentence was for his parents.
There was no point in arguing with him. No amount of words could straighten his twisted mind. Axel would just waste his breath.
"Hmm? Tired of screaming now?" Silas tilted his head to the side, earning a hiss from Axel. "Well, I guess you get tired as well. That's new. You're always full of energy, full of life. It always makes me wonder where that energy comes from, but well, doesn't matter."
"Boss."
Silas arched a brow as a voice reached his ear. He turned his head, and his eyes landed on the bald man standing not far away from him.
"What?" he asked in a curt tone.
"We… should just let him go."
"What?" Not only Silas was surprised by this nonsense, but Axel was as well.
Axel looked at the bald guy, who used to have an ugly orange mohawk. Was this guy taking his side? Why?
The bald guy sported a conflicted look as he scratched his shiny head. "I'm just saying…" how should he say it? He glanced at Silas and figured just his suggestion alone angered him. Anything he wouldn't change that. Therefore, he found the courage to reason out.
"We told you already how crazy this guy's sister is," he reasoned out in exasperation. "We didn't even have a chance to land a punch on her. I mean… if she finds out that you took this guy as a hostage, she'll go berserk! She'll kill all of us!"
'Huh?' Axel looked at the bald guy with equal surprise and dismay. 'So, that's why he said that earlier? He's scared of my sister?' — that was surprising, but then again, even if Axel was in their shoes, he would be scared! Adding to how Heaven beat them up, that rescue mission that night a year ago really gave Heaven a different light.
"Hah." Hearing the man's reasoning, Silas couldn't help but burst out in laughter. Although he heard how Heaven beat these guys up and that they had to spend a month or two in the hospital to recover, it did not faze Silas. Perhaps it was just a fluke. Or these guys simply underestimated her.
There were myriads of possibilities on how Heaven beat up grown men. These guys were too relaxed, after all. They weren't trained like him and some of his men. If he added Primo's people, then Heaven wouldn't stand a chance! Even if Dominic gathered all his team, Primo had a more hidden, talented, elite team to deal with them.
Therefore, what this guy was spewing was hilarious!
"Oh, goodness. My disappointment in you makes me cry." Silas wiped the corner of his eyes with the side of his index, chuckling. When he recovered, he looked at the man dead in the eye. "You're scared of a woman?"
The bald man lowered his eyes and pressed his lips into a thin line. It hurt his pride as well, but it was true. Just the thought of that woman scared the hell out of him and his group! Silas was this arrogant because he hadn't seen it himself and he wasn't there that night. If only he were, he was certain Silas would take a more careful approach.
"What a useless little thing." Silas clicked his tongue and shook his head. He gazed at the bald man and then glanced at the other guys around. Aside from the guys who came with him, they also had their eyes cast down.
"Just a mere woman and you're trembling in fear!" he roared, annoyed at the attitude he was seeing.
"A mere woman?" Axel let out a snicker, earning Silas's attention. "Silas, you're an idiot for even thinking my sister is just a mere woman. Forget about her. Even if she doesn't do a thing, many people will compete to open up your skull to fix the wires in that brain of yours just for saying that."
A glint of ridicule flickered across his eyes, looking at Silas with nothing but mockery. "You're dead once she finds out."
"IF... she finds out." Silas sneered. "Axel, right now, no one even knows you're here. Even if you die tonight, no one will think you're dead because they'll just think you went out to party somewhere."
Axel's face stiffened while Silas's sneer turned more twisted and evil.
"Don't worry, Axel. I planned on letting your beloved sister — your beloved Zhu family know where I dumped your body." His eyes flashed with malevolence as his smirk broadened. "Or better yet, I'd dump everyone in the same grave as yours."
The smile on Silas's face disappeared without a trace, motioning his hand to signal his men. "Teach him a lesson until he understands the Zhu family will soon become a part of the history."
"Silas!!" Axel roared while some men approached him. "Even if you kill me tonight, you will never touch my family — ugh!"
Axel's voice was instantly replaced by a grunt as a punch landed on his abdomen, taking his breath away. A kick immediately followed, even before he could recover.
"Heh." Silas snickered as he watched two men beat up Axel without mercy. "That's what you get for being so nosy."
He blinked ever so slowly, shifting his sharp eyes to the corner where a man stood under the darkness. Silas said nothing as he scoffed, setting his attention back to Axel as more and more blood smeared the dusty concrete floor.
