That's not something you should feel ashamed of
"You're a virgin?!"0
Tiger's face twitched as he hissed, making Ivy realize she raised her voice accidentally. She instinctively covered her lips, lowering her head as she leaned closer to him.
"You're a virgin?" she repeated, but this time, her voice was low.
"Miss Wei, that's the most shameful thing a person mistook me for." He clicked his tongue in dismay. "It's not like that. I fuck around many times before, but I don't date. I just fuck."
"Oh." Her cheek turned a little pinkish as she drew her head back a little. She pursed her lips and glanced at him. To be fair, Tiger wasn't ugly. He got the looks — though not better-looking than Dane. However, his strongest and most attractive point was his appeal.
One look and one could already guess what sort of personality he had. The man oozed with confidence and even though he had a crude way of speaking, it somehow suited his looks and aura. If she thought about it, this sort of personality and nature shouldn't be this pleasant. But somehow, it looked pleasant in her eyes. The bad boy type, or what others called it.
"It's just a personal opinion — perspective. One should date to marry," he added nonchalantly. "Why date and just waste my time and the other person's time?"
"Does that mean I'm not one to marry?"
"I mean it in general." He clarified. There was a vestige of annoyance in his voice, but it wasn't because of her. "I don't want to marry."
"And why is that?"
"The list of reasons is long. I've seen people marry and how they lose everything overnight."
Ivy furrowed her brows because that explanation was too vague for her. If she knew where he came from, then she would definitely understand. In the underground world, having a family wasn't forbidden. However, that also meant not only the person who was already a part of the underground world was in danger, but the family he had as well.
People in the underground were twisted in a diabolical way. To get someone, they didn't care who would get hurt in the process. They would even target innocent families or anyone who had even a bit of value to their enemies. Therefore, Tiger thought it was just foolish to marry someone and put his wife in danger. A danger that would last for as long as they were breathing.
Even now that he wasn't involved in the underground, he still had that principle. Who knew when his previous enemies would appear before him?
"Seeing you confused, I'd give you the simplest reason. Did I mention about my sister?" He remarked, guessing that Ivy didn't understand his initial answer. "If I married when she was alive, then she'd die."
The lines between her brows deepened as she asked. "Why? Did she tell you not to marry and just look after her all your life? Isn't that a little unfair?"
"No." Tiger chuckled as he shook his head, picking up the glass to his lips. "If I did marry before her, then she'd die of envy. That's her stupid dream, after all. To be someone's wife and just stay at home."
"Oh." Ivy rocked her head. "I didn't expect that."
"She will never ask anyone to look after her. That's her job… she used to say."
She glanced at Tiger's side profile, studying him as he chugged down his glass of Scott. She pressed her lips into a thin line. Whenever he talked about his late sister, there was always this strange difference in his tone. Ivy couldn't pinpoint what exactly it was, but there was definitely an aspect of respect and loyalty in it.
"You really love her, huh?" she whispered, earning his attention. "Since you keep mentioning her, will you mind if I asked what she's like?"
"The young madam."
"Huh?"
"Somehow, the young madam resembles her." This time, Tiger set his eyes on the drink his in hand. "I didn't mind it at first, thinking I just missed her. But the longer I stay in this job, the more she reminds me of her."
His eyelids drooped as a glint flickered across his eyes. "The way she walks and how she sometimes doesn't make a sound at all, how her hand rest naturally — as if she was used to holding something. Sometimes, even the way her eyelashes flutter as her eyes sharpen makes me think I'm looking at my sister. Even how she gets on my nerves is the same."
"I don't want to entertain the thought," he continued and made light of his tone, chuckling. "But it annoys me how she reminds me of her. You can say it's one of the reasons I stuck around when I have a hundred reasons to leave."
"Oh…" Ivy rocked her head, a bit surprised at the details he told her. "That's quite too detailed. I didn't think you were observing Heaven way too much."
"Jealous?"
"Why would I?" she frowned a bit. "You're the head of security. So, it's natural for you to notice everything around you."
Tiger chuckled mildly at her answer, taking a mouthful of drink. When he put down the glass, he spun on the stool to face her.
"Anyway, we should go," he said. "Don't drink too much. We might end up under the sheets later."
Ivy looked at him strangely, lips drawn into a thin line. His right brow arched at the look that appeared on her face.
"You…" he trailed off, squinting his eyes suspiciously. "Don't tell you're a —"
Before he could finish his question, Ivy panicked. She let go of her glass to cover his mouth with both her hands. Her pupils were wide and the hands covering his lips were trembling. One could tell she wasn't trembling out of fear, but out of shame.
Why, though?
Tiger peeled her hands from his mouth and drew his head back. "Why are you so ashamed?" he asked curiously. "It's a little insulting for me as a man, but I don't think it should be the same for women. I mean, being a virgin isn't really bad."
"Please. You don't have to spell it out."
"That, what? That you're actually a virgin?" Her face turned red while he laughed playfully, teasing her a bit. "Come on, Miss Wei. I'm just messing with you. Don't be mad."
"Don't talk to me!"
Ivy pressed her lips, looking at him in dismay. She looked away and said nothing, chugging down her drink in one go, only to order another glass. She hadn't talked to him since then, ignoring him as her way of telling him how insensitive he was.
