[Bonus chapter] Don't be sad anymore.
3Meanwhile…
Dominic and his distinguished guest remained in the VIP section. Since there were a lot of attendees, they didn't want to join the long lines. Moreover, they were told to stay for a little while by that person Dominic called No One.
"CEO Zhu, I have a lot of words with you once we get out of here." The senator cast Dominic a stern look, eyes glinting. "You haven't explained to me that you have such an enemy coming at your tail, putting everyone in danger like this."
Dominic remained silent, eyes down.
The senator's expression turned even more sour, not pleased the man was ignoring him. "And I will never forgive you if you die here tonight. I told you. We have lots of things to talk about once we get out of here. Therefore, you should come out of this place because the only time I'd meet you outside is while you're alive. I will not attend your funeral."
Everyone around the table looked at the senator quietly. The man was staring in one direction, making them shift their eyes to Dominic.
They were all displeased at how this event turned out. However, they couldn't fully blame Dominic. The man didn't ask for this to happen. Moreover, Dominic was already making a huge sacrifice. Every one of them was given the pass to leave the establishment, after all. Only a few were told to stay.
One of them was the new member of the board of directors of the Lyon Group, Mr. M, and the other person was the chief of central intelligence. What luck! Thinking of that, they couldn't help but cast the old man a quick look.
From what they heard, the man just arrived in the country. And yet, now, he was part of this disaster. He must be very disappointed. But alas, studying the foreigner's face, he didn't seem fazed. Was he just putting up a brave front? He hadn't said a word since this entire fiasco started.
"I am sorry for your loss, Mr. Zhu." After a minute of nothing but silence, the foreigner finally spoke. He looked in Dominic's direction, only to see the man looking down. "I heard you have a very good relationship with your brother. It must be hard not to have the time to grieve."
The man's remarks reminded them of Axel. Their faces crumpled in dismay as they gazed down. That was right. They almost forgot about it because of the situations they were in. Right now, Dominic was not only in danger himself, but he just found out about his brother's murder.
How could they get angry at him now? Dominic lost his brother and his death was even broadcast for everyone to see.
"I've been in that exact same position," said the foreigner, slipping his hand inside his suit pocket leisurely. When he took it out, a pack of cigarettes was in his hand and a silver lighter. "I once lost a very important person in my life. She's like a daughter to me, but when she passed, I didn't even get the time to grieve due to my job."
The foreigner clipped the cigarette butt in between his lips, lighting up the other end of it. When he succeeded and took a long drag, he puffed smoke in the air as his eyes fell on Dominic once again.
"That is why I am not displeased at this situation I am dragged in," he continued with the same tone. "My heart is with you."
Still, Dominic didn't reply. He kept his eyes down, his expression almost dead, pale and plain.
The chief didn't mind, though. He glanced up and shifted his eyes to the person sitting at the other table next to them. There sat Moose with a flask in his hand. Moose just looked at the man without a word, before looking away from the foreigner.
"Where's my wife?" after five minutes of nothing but silence, Dominic broke his silence. He turned his head in Bear's direction as the man was taken to a place near them. In this way, the masked men could maximize their manpower by watching the hostages in place while letting the rest go.
"Bear," he called quietly, catching Bear standing not far away from them. "Where is she?"
His question put a deep line in between everyone's brows. Dominic's wife was here? How come? Did she perhaps arrive late? But shouldn't she supposed to be with her husband so Dominic could introduce her to them?
Bear lowered his eyes. "I have no idea, but she'll be fine since she's not on the list."
"She'll be fine?" Dominic repeated under his breath, rocking his head. "She should be. For sure. Right."
Again, Dominic peeled his eyes from Bear and cast his eyes down. He kept mumbling to himself, making everyone look at him apologetically. Even Moose and Bear had their eyes on their employer, bearing this stern look, but remained quiet.
Making a move now would only ruin Dominic's negotiation.

"Hmm…" Heaven opened her eyes wearily, feeling weak as she fell on something soft. Despite her blurring vision, she tried to look around to see what was going on. Walls and pieces of furniture replaced her view of the huge venue filled with people as if she were in a room.
"Where…" she trailed off weakly, catching a person standing not far away from her. She narrowed her eyes in hopes of seeing the person clearly. "Dom? I think I got a lot of drink tonight… did you take me home?"
Silas, who was standing not away from the couch she was lying on, simply gazed down at her. A sneer appeared on his face as he slowly bent down, looking at her face closer.
"Yes, darling," he said, caressing her cheek with the back of his hand. "You drank quite a lot tonight, so I have to take you home."
Heaven blinked weakly as she stared at the face in front of her. "Did I make a scene, my love?" she inquired, raising her hand weakly to cup his face. "If so, then I'm sorry if I ruined your night."
Silas's brows rose at the softness of her touch. His eyes remained on her, witnessing how were droopy eyes twinkled with affection and how her smile appeared so mesmerizing.
"Darling," she called as she furrowed her brows. "Why do you look so sad?"
"I'm not sad."
"Liar." Heaven frowned as she lost strength in her hand, dropping it on the side of the couch. However, she kept her weary eyes on him as she stared at him, barely keeping her consciousness. "I am your wife… and I know you from inside and out."
Silas kept his lips pressed together, staring at her quietly. 'Liar,'he thought. 'After all those big claims, you've still mistaken someone else for him.' He raised a hand and cupped her lean face, brushing her cheek with his thumb.
Her initial reaction was a giggle and a smile. Heaven slowly raised her hand again to hold the hand on her face.
"Be good," she whispered, closing her eyes. "Everything will be alright, my love. So don't be sad anymore. You know I hate it when you make that face."
