592: That’s your mother’s wish, Silas.

Author: BAJJ Word Count: 6508 Updated: 2025-03-06 17:13:48

That’s your mother’s wish, Silas.

"All I want is my new grandma and that Grandpa over there. Hello there, Wolf, it's been a while. What a surprise to see you here, when I thought I killed you. Surely, you're a motherfucking son of the devil. How did you survive?"1

The corner of Wolf's mouth curled up in a smirk, looking at the very familiar person in the past. As the chief of the central intelligence, Wolf was familiar with many dangerous people. Albeit, most of them were his enemies. After all, he had been after these "bad guys" asses and even locked up many of them in the most dangerous prison facility in the world.

"How did I survive that one time you wrapped a boulder around my body so I'd sink into the bottom of the ocean?" Wolf inquired calmly, taking a long drag from the last stick of cigarette he would light tonight. "It's simple. I can't die in the hands of a fool. That will hurt my pride. Though, this is a good reunion. It's nice to see you too, Alex."

The smile on Primo's face cracked a little at how Wolf called him. However, that wasn't enough to trigger him to kill the man. After all, Primo still needed something from the man… especially now.

"I assume you're here to get my ass?" Primo guessed, darting his eyes between Dominic and Wolf. "If you do, that changes everything." His expression faded into coldness.

Primo wouldn't live this long if he was a little foolish. His enemies were more dangerous and powerful than Dominic Zhu. After all, Dominic's contacts were mostly in the government. The good people and heroes… or whatever people deemed them to be. But Primo's enemies were more dangerous than any corrupted politicians. But rather, people who could enjoy a meal with a severed head in the middle of the table.

In other words, if Wolf was here, then that means Dominic anticipated this to happen. That was the question. Did Dominic anticipate this turn of events? Or was it simply a coincidence?

"That won't change a thing."

As Primo reviewed the situation tonight and how things easily unfolded, Silas suddenly spoke. Primo slowly shifted his eyes to Silas, only to see the man staring at Dominic and then at Grandma Zhu.

"A mere old man wouldn't change anything tonight, Primo," Silas continued coldly, keeping his gaze on his grandmother. "I made this plan, thinking of Dominic's retaliation. I already anticipated whatever cards he would be playing tonight, after all. Whatever it was, his end would be the same."

"Well, that's quite insulting, young man," Wolf expressed with a bit of dismay. "I've never been called a mere old man in my life."

"Silas." Ignoring Wolf's personal sentiments, Grandma Zhu broke her silence. Her burning eyes behind her wrinkly eyelids were fixed on her grandson. "How can you do this to your family?"

"Family?" Silas scoffed, almost laughing at that joke he had been hearing all his life. He would laugh out loud about it, but he already heard this joke countless times in his life. Therefore, it wasn't funny anymore.

"Grandma, I am not your family," he continued in a mocking tone. "Your family is Lionel, Ria, Leon, Dominic, Axel, and now your great-grandchildren. I'm not one of them." He shook his head, eyes still on the old madam. "I've stopped being your family when you let my mother die in the hands of that monster, Madam Zhu."

"Silas, your mother —"

"Don't you dare say her name, Old Hag!" Silas's voice thundered, making it echo across the entire hall. Everyone, even those standing far away like Tiger and Dane, looked in their direction. "You don't deserve to call her name when you turned a blind eye to your son's crime and let her die as a woman who took her own life for her son to see."

Silas panted as he let out all the suppressed emotions he had hidden for many years. His eyes burned in anger, and in one glance, everyone could tell he was blaming Old Madam Zhu for everything.

"You sided with your son and abandoned the woman he ruined," he added under his breath, shaking his head mildly while still keeping his eyes on her. "That day you allowed Leon to get away from his crime and let the judge call her death a suicide. You've not only lost Leon and my mother. You've also lost all the respect I have for you, Madam Zhu. That day, you and everyone in the Zhu family stopped being my family."

"You think letting me live in your house with your favorites is helping? No. It didn't, Madam Zhu. If anything, it only showed me why you made such a decision. At the end of the day, you had your favorites. Leon grew up insecure because of you and the person who suffered from his inferiority complex was me and my mother," Silas hissed, grinding his teeth as he expressed his personal sentiments and the grudge that kept him going every single day. "I will never forgive you or the entire Zhu family. Even if you grovel at my feet, I will end you just like how I ended Axel. Or perhaps I'll hang you just like how your son hung my mother."

Grandma Zhu clenched her teeth as she clutched the armrest of the wheelchair. She breathed out, feeling her heart clench a little.

"You don't have any idea how that image of her keeps haunting me till this day," he added with a short scoff. "This is justice, Old Madam Zhu. You're not the one who hung her, but you're not innocent either. It's your fault — your crime. Therefore, you must pay for it."

"Silas," Dominic called under his breath, absorbing all the nonsense Silas spewed. He processed everything Silas said and knew it was his cousin's driving force. "That's your mother's wish, Silas."

"Huh?" Silas let out a short laugh as he looked at Dominic. But before he could say anything, Dominic already spoke.

"You fool. That's your mother's wish." Dominic clenched his teeth for a moment, hands balled into a tight fist. "Grandma, let him go because your mother didn't want you to live with the title of being a murderer's son. It was also the reason Auntie Olivia didn't press charges against the domestic violence, telling Grandma that even if Leon killed her, she wouldn't want her son to live with such a title along his name."

"You think doing this will make your mother proud? Well done, Silas," Dominic added with a tinge of mockery in his tone. "You've wasted all her efforts in giving you a better life and for you to not become like that monster who killed her — the same person who tried to kill an eight-year-old boy."
