A meeting at this hour?
"Told you, Silas. My brother and sis will kill you. You're dead — Bleh!" 0
Silas had his eyes wide open as he stared at the large screen on the stage. Even though Axel could barely open his swollen and blacked eyes, he could feel the look of ridicule behind his gaze. His chest rumbled as he breathed out a jagged breath, turning his head in Dominic's direction on instinct.
"What…"
"Motherfucker," Silas trailed off at Primo's airy side comment, but he couldn't take his attention away from Dominic.
Silas was so sure his plan for tonight was clean and smooth. He had waited for this, planned for it for many years, and executed it tonight after years of extended patience. He fought a patient fight, knowing he had to be careful if he wanted to end the Zhu family without getting implicated in it.
What happened?
Why was Axel, who was supposed to be dead, now on the screen and taunting him? Why was Dominic smirking at him now as if he was successful in something? And why was Primo so alarmed at the thought of Heaven Liu?
What was going on?
"Silas, we grew up together and despite not spending many years throughout our teenage years and adulthood, some things don't change. But for sure, there were changes." Dominic let out a shallow breath, assessing Silas's pale complexion. "For instance, you never changed, Silas. While I… did, not long ago."
Dominic took a deliberate pause as his eyelids drooped. "Silas, did you really believe that I can forgive someone who touched my family? Don't make me laugh. Be it the devil or God himself — it doesn't matter who, I will not forgive them."
"And you're right, Silas." He shook his head mildly. "You're not family. You've stopped being one the moment you thought of us as your enemies."
Silas held his breath while staring at the pair of sharp eyes not far away from him. His men were still armed and the situation in this hall still hadn't changed. However, for some reason, Silas felt like he was the one who was trapped in there.
How the hell did things turn out like this?

[FLASHBACK: Miracle's third month anniversary]
"Damn it!" Axel jumped up on the bed, fuming in anger. "I can't believe them! How can they just forgive him just like that!? That man won't change."
During the family dinner, to celebrate Miracle's third month of existence, Axel heard so much bullshit spewed by his family. He was so in disbelief he chose to shut his mouth. He told himself for the sake of his nephew and niece, he shouldn't make a big deal out of it.
His family was a little forgiving, after all. Especially his parents and brother. But still, how come Heaven and Grandma Zhu approved of it?! And so easily as that?!
"Unbelievable!" he harrumphed, huffing sharply. "Did they get bribed for that truckload of gifts?! I gifted my angels too! How come he got so many benefits?!"
Axel jumped back on the bed, lying on his side and shutting his eyes to sleep. But his mind was too active, not giving him the peace he needed to fall asleep. Thus, he jumped up once more, clicking his tongue in irritation.
"This can't be!" he hissed, flinging his legs out of the bed. Axel hurriedly slipped his feet inside his fluffy indoor slipper before he marched outside the bedroom.
He knew his brother. If that foolish big brother of his was too naive to think Silas would change, then he should at least convince Heaven. If he did, there was a high chance his sister-in-law would reconsider. Moreover, Heaven was the most cautious of all. She might appear relaxed and silly most of the time, but it would be foolish to think she wasn't aware of her surroundings. That woman seemed to have eyes even in the back of her head, after all.
With that thought in mind, Axel marched his way to his brother's and sister's room. When he reached their bedroom, he didn't dare open the door unannounced. Who knew what the couple was doing? Axel didn't want to have such a memory. Moreover, his brother would pluck out his eyes and rewire his brain if Axel ended up seeing his sister-in-law naked. Therefore, Axel simply knocked as loud as he could.
"Bro!" he yelled while continuously knocking on the door. "Sis! I can't sleep! We need to talk!"
Axel's knocking grew faster and louder, calling for his sister and brother. After two minutes of continuous knocking, he stopped and waited. If the couple were having a lovely time, they would need some time to get dressed. However, five minutes had passed, and no one opened the door.
"Are you ignoring me?!" Axel yelled, tempted to open the door. "Can you please answer if you are, or I'll end up barging into your room!"
"Bro, I will open the door in ten, nine, eight —"
"Second young master?"
Axel stopped mid-sentence upon hearing Miriam's voice from the side. He turned his head, only to see Miriam standing in the middle of the short hall in the couple's room.
"Second young master, what are you doing?" Miriam inquired, confused. She moved her eyes to the door where Axel had been knocking. "Are you looking for the Young Master and the Young Madam? They were in the family room."
"Huh?"
Miriam let out a sigh. "Please, second young master, it's already a little late. Miracle's room is just right next door and I'm afraid she'll wake up if you keep knocking on that door as if you want to break it."
"Oh." Axel blinked as if he just realized his niece's room was just right next to his brother and sister-in-law's room. "Did you say they were in the family room?"
"Yes."
"But Basti already went to bed??"
"He did, but the Young Master and the Young Madam called for a meeting."
"A meeting?" Axel furrowed his brows, estimating what time it was already. "At this hour?"
"Yes."
"Then why are you here?"
"They only called the bodyguards. The house staff aren't included in the meeting." Miriam explained patiently before sighing once more. Just as her lips parted again, she heard a child's cry. "Second young master, I think Miracle woke up. I have to go."
Miriam didn't waste a second as she hurriedly went to the other room near Heaven's and Dominic's. Meanwhile, Axel stood motionless in the same spot.
"A meeting at this hour?" he cocked his head to the side while rubbing his chin. "Well, that's a little surprising. Since when did my brother call for his bodyguards to have a meeting so late? If I remember correctly, that is Mr. Zhang's job."
